Altar sent me this free sample through the BzzAgent sampling program. This running shoe is one of the most comfortable shoe I've even worn right from the start. The cushioning makes for great impact for running. It's also very light weight which makes it much easier for longer runs. As someone who normally runs 3-5 times a week it's important to have a shoe that give support and comfort. This running shoe does both. My only down side is that this show is made for people who have a wide foot in my opinion. As someone with a very narrow foot I felt like my foot was swimming unless I wore extra pairs of socks. I can see the attempt to make it feet different types of feet however for narrow feet it's just moving around in the show which is comfortable after starting out on a run. If this show were made more narrow, it would be the perfect ruining show for me.

While true to size through the majority of the foot, with the current styling it feels way too wide in the toes.

The sole is too stiff. The upper is too large and the heel feels sloppy. The eyelets aren't as easy as older designs like 4.0/4.5 The upper is thicker and not as moldable (to the foot). Overall, mediocre. Detracts from the light/fast concept of the Superior series.

New additional material to support the laces near the base of my pinky toe rubs in an unfortunate way making these unwearable for me. It would have been my 4th pair of Superiors. On to Lone Peaks...

I've been running in Altra shoes for 10 years or so. They forgot to include the wide toe box on these shoes, and the soles are paper thin. They do advertise these shows as low cushion, but you can literally feel every pebble on the trail under your feet. My real gripe on these is that they don't have the standard wide toe box that you know and love altra footwear for. Looks like I'll be switching to topos.

I liked my Lone Peak 8s and thought I would try a different Altra hiker. But Superior 6 in the same size was much more narrow in the midfiit with much lower volume, and narrower in the toe box as well. I think I'd have to size up one full size. Why such inconsistency from Altra? Buyer beware.

The color is great but the fit is terrible. Been buying Altras for years, and this is the worst pair I've ever bought.
The tongue of the shoe is attached on one side and is not adjustable or moveable, and there were incredibly tight, especially around the ball of thr foot.
I wish Zappos sold thr older pair of Altras I've had in the past

Superior 5 is my favorite shoe. The Superior 6 is a big let down. I don't have big wide feet but the fit of this shoe is too tight from the middle of the foot down to the toes. Breaking them in helped slightly but they still feel tight like they could have a blow out on the sides at any time. The new fabric is nice and more durable but has less give and perhaps this is part of the issue and just needs a little more height added. Hope to see this corrected in the future.

Really bummed by this shoe. I absolutely loved the superior 5 and after ordering my replacement this shoe has a totally different fit. It feels smaller, narrower + the side ripped and blew out on me.

What a bummer. What ever happened to the roomy toe box that Altra is famous for ? I have been a Lone Peak 6 fan for years where did they go. I picked the Superior 6 because it was the least obnoxious color. They are tight in the toes and uncomfortable. What a shame. I am officially frustrated with Altra and will settle for a different brand.

The shoe fits for a 13 length wise. Width wise I've been on the narrow side and these are very narrow. Even smaller is the amount of volume in the toe box. If I ran without socks they'd be fine, but the blisters would be even worse. I wore these for about a week and a half before sending them back. The tow box's narrowness and low volume couples with the hinge point made where the laces stop and the forefoot begins is a serious hot spot. I did not go on any long forays in these and they started forming blisters on my little toes where the lace supports end. Too bad, because the feel of the sole and the lightness were both perfect and the colorway one of the best available. Waiting for my credit on these to buy a different pair, will likely try experience wilds. I have had Timp 4s (13) and Lone Peak 7s (12.5, a little on the small side but it was the size they had), for comparison.

The lounge is sewn in and therefore just lacing it up feels way too tight. Had no choice but to exchange for another pair.

I LOVED the Superior 5 and owned 3 pair over time. My most recent pair is thoroughly worn out and I ended up replacing them with a pair of Superior 6's. Bottom line: I do not like Superior 6. They are a step back. The toebox feels narrower and the stack seems higher. If I wanted a high stack I'd buy Lone Peaks. Hopefully I can still find some 5's somewhere because the 6 won't cut it for me.

I've been using Altra Superiors for several generations of shoes, but these just don't work. Narrow forefoot, no give to the upper, and hence unwearable. Not the shoe or shape I'd expect from Altra.

I have a pair of superior 4 shoes that are so slippery on wet rocks that I only use them on dry days. Otherwise a great pair of shoes. Every generation of this shoe gets reports of slipping on wet rocks, please fix the rubber!

Really tried to like this shoe as the look/style appeals to me, but that's the only Pro comment I can make. The tongue on this shoe is horrible as one side is completely stitched/integrated into the shoe so there is zero flexibility to adjust to your foot so it feels 'wrong' or off center no matter what. I love Altra's and I hate Altra's for this reason - absolutely zero consistency in tongue design/comfort. Speaking of comfort, the outsole on this shoe is stiff and feels and sounds like wearing a hard sole boot when walking and running. Major disappointment and ultimately why I returned them.

I've switched to Topo. These shoes need bigger lugs (think King MT) with vibram rubber. Durability should be better as well. After 6 iterations you'd think they would have these more dialed in.

I have bought and loved Altra Superiors. Think think the originals are best. Through out the version changes the shoe has become more narrow and different fabric above the toes causing me to go up in sizes. Unfortunalety, this version is even more narrow and the fabric above the toes is similiar to the Lone Peaks. Even with the thinnest socks it was hard to put and was painful to walk in. This is the first pair of shoes I have even had to return. Ended up buying 3 pairs of the previous version.

Laces are 6-10" too short. The eyelets on one side are weird and make the laces drift to that side. Eyelets are also positioned so it's hard to get a snug fit. Sole cushion overall size is good.

I bought these on May 9, 2023 (Superior 5s) and I love how these shoes feel. However, I am disappointed that after approximately 120 miles on Ohio trails, they are already falling apart. The on the top of the toe box on the right shoe is peeling off, which started after my 2nd run in them. It continues to get worse. I attempted to glue it back on with Gorilla glue this week but that didn't work. What's strange is that I have a pair of Escalates that don't have any problems. I am hoping that I just got a faulty product because I love running the trail in the Superiors, but I can't recommend products to friends that fall apart so soon.

There is not much padding between my feet and the rubber soles. Needs better insoles.

I was really really looking forward to the new superior 6. Looked like not many changes with the new outsole rubber used in the LP7. Unfortunately the upper doesn't allow for any room in the toe box or at the mid foot. I can't believe this because I don't have wide feet at all. Many complained about the LP7 being more narrow but was no problem for me. What a disappointment. The midsole feels good and the grip is so much better in wet conditions but I just can't wear this shoe. I suppose I could remove the sock liner to increase the volume but I never thought i would have to do this in Altras with my narrow foot...

The size and width was fine but the toe depth was so shallow it felt like I smashed my toes downwards. Why design such a nice wide toe box and them make it this shallow?
