I absolutely love my Altra superior 5. They were the second pair of "barefoot" style shoes I purchased, and I've now tried five brands. Lems are well built and comfortable, but not great in wet conditions, Xero have lasted a long time, but they're not very stylish. My viviborefoot have started falling apart after 3 months! These altra's are the only shoe that feels like the manufacturing process is solid. They are very light, very comfortable and they're by far, the best built, most durable, and long lasting shoe I've purchased in the zero drop category. I love my Altras

I've been very happy with these shoes so far! One oddity in the design is that the tongue is fully attached to the shoe on one side, and is more traditional on the other side (overlap with a gusset that would normally keep it centered, but in this case I guess just keeps it from falling into the shoe too far). It makes the shoes feel a little odd to put on, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Quality seems good and there was little to no break-in period. Looking forward to wearing these more!

These shoes are what my son prefers for XC and all orienteering races. They handle both the off trail terrain, as well as urban sprint running on concrete. I have spent thousands on Altra running shoes have purchased multiple pairs and he has raced in terrain around the world for team USA and these handle all conditions well; he doesn't roll his ankle in these shoes either they have good connection to the ground.

Great shoes and very comfortable. I bought one pair to take to Bandon Dunes to play golf. We walk 36 holes a day. They worked great, I ended up buying two more pairs of different styles from road to trail.

I received these right before a trip to Disney and they performed amazingly! I use them for my daily 3 mile run, the fit and cushion leave my feet feeling great. Thanks Altra for the free shoes!

This is my 3rd pair of altra shoes ( I like to have multiple shoes on hand ) this brand really does provide excellent quality shoes within a surprising light weight form . I run on mild terrain about 3-4x a week as well as weekend hiking on steeper terrain . Shoes flex incredibly well without pinching toes. Fit i feel is very true to size and level of cushion and bounce back is great for arch lift off . Super durable , my other altra pair have lasted great through an entire year of runs . Highly recommend these shoes.

I've tried to test these shoes in a variety of conditions and situations, and they have performed so well in all of them. I have run the streets of our neighborhood in them, decided to work on squats with them (because the toe box is so wide and allows my toes to spread), and went out on the disc golf course with them on as a bit of a hiking shoe because of their great mid-aggressive sole! I love how lightweight they are which means I can move even more nimbly when I'm running outside or in the gym. The laces are super comfortable and easy to tie, and the tongue of the shoe makes it very easy to get my foot in the shoe quickly!

I have a running buddy who runs in Altras all the time. He loves their zero-drop. To be honest, the zero-drop (especially as I've gotten older - I'm 43) made me a little reluctant - as I often deal with achilles, heel, and arch pain (I run a decent amount). Nonetheless, when I had the opportunity to try the Altra Superior 6s - I thought it would be a good test, because I could also wear them on day hikes and trail runs. All that to say, I love the way they feel! Given their purpose, I haven't done any 'road running', but have spent some time on trails and really like them. Just enough cushion, yet feel 'close to the ground', and allow for a natural gait. If I had to pick a color scheme - I'd probably pick something different than the 'black' pair that I have - but they also have a good outdoorsy look. They seem to provide good grip on rocky areas - though I haven't worn them in any wet conditions. Overall, a great shoe and would recommend.

I received this product free in exchange for an honest review. I've run and used this shoe in the gym and love the roominess, comfort, and minimal feel. Great grip on the sole and fits true to size!

Disclosure: This review is in exchange for a complimentary sample. I recently had the opportunity to sample the Altra Running US MEN'S SUPERIOR shoes, and I must say, they exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I slipped them on, I could feel the superior comfort and support they provided. One of the standout features is it ensures a perfect fit and accommodates the natural shape of my feet. This not only enhanced the overall comfort but also gave me the confidence to tackle any terrain with ease. The traction on the outsole is exceptional, providing excellent grip on both dry and wet surfaces. I felt secure and stable while running on uneven trails, great traction and this prevented any slips or slides. What impressed me the most was the shoe's responsiveness and flexibility. The lightweight design allowed for effortless movement, and the cushioning system provided a nice balance between responsiveness and impact absorption. Whether I was navigating rocky paths or cruising on smooth surfaces, the shoes adapted seamlessly to the terrain, providing a smooth and enjoyable running experience. The high-quality materials used in their construction, combined with the solid craftsmanship, have resulted in a long-lasting and reliable pair of shoes. Overall, I highly recommend the Altra Running US MEN'S SUPERIOR shoes to any trail running enthusiasts. They offer unmatched comfort, outstanding traction, and impressive durability, making them a fantastic choice for those seeking a high-performance shoe. Put them on, hit the trails, and get ready for an incredible running experience.

Straight out the box this product feels great on the foot. Received these the day before Memorial Day and i had a Double Murph on tap. 4 miles 200 pull ups, 400 push ups and 600 air squats and my feet felt great! Not a single blister or raw spot. This is by far the most comfortable toe box i have had in a shoe. Shout out to ALTRA for allowing me to test these shoes as part of a free sampling program.

These shoes are very lightweight and comfortable. The cushioning is the same from front to back and relieves pressure on my knees and feet while running. They look great as well. The front of the shoe is a little wider looking than other shoes, but still looks good. These are great for every day as well as for running outdoors.

I am not a runner, I just wanted some good looking shoes to wear that were comfortable. I like the larger toe box and they fit well. I hate how all the other shows have 2-3 inches of sole under heel.

I've worn the Superior 5's for a few years for trail running, walking, everyday use, exercise, and street running as needed (and they're fine for that). And with its minimalist design it is a wonderful all-in-one travel shoe. This update has the same great fit and is improved-upon (cleaner) with the loss of the plasticky side supports. There are no unnecessary design elements - just the pretty discrete Altra logo in a nice reflective orange on the side and the pull tab on back (which one could simply cut-off if need be) The gray soul is a perfect compromise between a light color that would show dirt and scream tennis shoe and something too dark that would make it an ugly all black. It's toe protection is discrete. You can wear this out and it doesn't say "running shoe" or bulky trail shoe. Thank goodness it is just "plain" in the best way. Thank you designers!

I do not do trail running but these are my fav summer walking everyday shoes. The only one thing is that you should buy at least half size larger than your actual size.

I decided to try these because were on sale. I use barefoot and zero drop shoes exclusively. After a bicycle accident brain injury and now a lack of balance, I chose these as my disc golf/everyday shoe. Other than the narrowness, they have been great.

I really like this shoe, but I would prefer a little more cushion so my next pair will be the Lone Peak. Still a really nice shoe.

Rugged trail running. Almost perfect !!! Great shoe in every way except the hard plastic lacing structure on the upper, lateral part of the shoe digs into my boney ankle (lateral malleolus). Please soften that area or trim it down, away from the malleolus. Thanks.

I previously loved my Altra Torin 6's for their wide toe box. This shoe (Superior 6) is not shaped the same as that and were too narrow at the widest part of my foot. In other shoe brands I have always required a wide size. The shoe was otherwise exactly as advertised.

These shoes are very comfortable, versatile, and look good too! However, I have one major complaint: the outsole wears out much more quickly than other shoes I've owned, even those in a similar style. I purchased this pair in February, and now (six months later) a significant portion of the lugs are worn away. While these have been my sort of default/everyday shoes, I don't really do a ton of walking or running, and I haven't used these shoes for any excessive amount of hiking, etc. that might wear the shoes out extra fast. Based on other shoes I've owned, I typically expect them to last about a year of normal use before reaching their current condition, and this pair has worn out in half that time. They've begun to feel like there is little traction left compared to when I got them.
I'd also recommend:

I have not bought the superior model since 2018, been running in lone peaks. I started working on using less and less padding again and made the switch back to the superiors to find them narrow in the toe box. Not painfully so, but they seem like the fabric is going to wear out from being pulled tight. I like the rest of the shoe, drys fast, fits properly in the heel, tread had a good amount of grip. I would recommend to anyone with regular width feet; if the fabric holds up I will buy again.
