I bought this coat several years ago. I should have returned it. The size runs small and I feel like I'll rip it every time I wear it, which isn't often. I normally love LLBean quality.

I personally have a primaloft ladies coat I bought in 2019. It is wonderful! Now-this coat I bought for my teenage son for an upcoming trip to Alaska. It is extremely thin (my packaway coat is thicker and still folds into its pocket nice and small). I figured maybe it would be just as good as mine-wrong. He wore this coat (with a long sleeve shirt underneath) for approximately 2 hours outdoors on a day where it was 55 degrees and a little windy (we have mostly mild winter days where we live). He froze. This coat is literally like a slightly thick windbreaker which is disappointing considering the cost. I wish it was made like mine. I also bought a child's version for my little boy and it's made the same-very thin. Bring back the older version please!

I wear this jacket more than any other jacket I own, but it gets only two stars because it is not wind resistant at all. The first quality of any jacket advertised as outer wear should be wind resistance and even the slightest breeze passes straight through this jacket. It and has no business in LLBean's "warmer" category. I live in Aurora, Colorado (next to Denver) which has milder weather than most people think and this is just a warm sweater to me. It is not adequate as an outdoor garment when worn alone except for going to and from the car, which is what I do most and why I wear it so often. That being said, it is super compressible and super slippery and doesn't bind at all when worn over or under anything. I wear it mostly just over a t-shirt, but I always have to keep a shell or warmer jacket or coat in the back seat just in case I have to be outside for longer periods. One thing this jacket does excel in is the inner pocket hides the weight and profile of a handgun as well as any purpose-made jacket I have tried, and it does so without having to look "tactical." I see there is a warmer Pro version available, but LLBean just needs to add a more wind resistant outer layer with a bit of water resistance with the current 60-gram insulation to get 5 stars from me.

This is the worst purchase I've ever made from LL Bean. This jacket is a glorified windbreaker. For $200, I expected a warm jacket. I bought it for my son to take to Europe for a semester abroad, and thought it would be light and packable but also somewhat warm. Wrong. You have to add multiple layers to tolerate even moderate winter weather. I even tried wearing it myself and could not believe how flimsy it was. Extremely disappointing.

Bad fit- Size was way off based on size /measurement guide/chart provided. Also had to pay for return shipping. Would rather just go into a store and try on. Usually LL Bean is good...not so much for this particular jacket.

A lightweight, no bulk jacket is exactly what I wanted for this winter. This jacket is built well and warm, but the sizing! Slightly fitted is more like a slim, hipster fit. There was zero mobility for me in this jacket. Don't return a lot of Bean items, but this is one.

I was hoping the PrimaLoft Packaway Jacket would be a less expensive, better fitting alternative to a competing product made by a different manufacturer. I wear a size L / TALL but the other manufacturer doesn't have tall sizes. The PrimaLoft Packaway Jacket fits well, but the material is quite stiff and rather unpleasant to the touch at least compared to the silky feel of the competitor's jackets. I really like to feel cozy in a puffy jacket, and this one just doesn't do the job. I'm going to return the PrimaLoft Packaway and get a size XL from the competitor despite the higher price and poorer fit.

It gets one star for being lightweight, but it was not warm enough here in Chicago to even pretend to be a winter coat and there's not enough pockets nor are they big enough for what I needed. It's an okay lightweight jacket for spring or fall but, even then, not for the money. I had to wear so many layers underneath that it just wasn't practical. FYI after I returned this I bought a coat from "Beyond" clothing from their outlet and it's fantastic.

The Bean 850 jackets are warmer than this NASA stuff. There have been tests comparing the two materials. Look up the MyLifeOutdoors test on YouTube. This insulation is a marketing gimmick.

I was looking for a winter jacket that would be suitable for a trip to central Indiana at Christmas. Th8s jacket isn't it ! I am a 2XL Tall and to be safe I ordered a 3XL Tall, since I wanted to be able to wear it with a winter flannel shirt underneath it. The jacket barely zippered up, was very tight under the arms and all around. The measurements for this
jacket are made for someone with a much smaller fame. It is also VERY thin. I doubt it would be very warm. Returning it the same day I got it.

My husband has worn the older version of this for the past 17 years. He replaced it once about 12 yrs ago. He loves that jacket. I have bought him competitors versions (*NF & Mar***) and he always comes back to this one. I went to replace it this year and what a change! The new one is so thin! This isn't even the warmth of wearing a decent fleece. I bought the women's version. I lasted 3 minutes outside and went back in for my old jacket. Both got returned. The store said that they're focusing on sustainability now and going to new materials. I'm all for sustainability but this was a big step in the the wrong direction as far as creating a functional jacket. There were tons of these in all sizes at the outlet where I returned them. Do yourself a favor and skip this purchase!

I returned the packaway (650) fill hooded jacket as it was much lighter than I needed for a cold Northwest winter and the large, slightly fitted size was a bit too tight to fit around my typical slightly large sized tummy. Suggest Bean forget so many slightly fitted products. I may try the 850 filled XL.

Rated as warmest but this lightweight jacket extremely overrated. Very thin layer of primaloft did not provide expected warmth, very disappointed and resented needed to pay for return shipping when jacket misrepresented in catalog.

The fit was very small. The jacket was not a tall length compared to other LL Bean tall items. I had to return it.

I bought this jacket just over a year ago and haven't worn it much. The dog pulled me down yesterday and the sleeve split open. LL Bean will not cover damage caused by an accident, which is understandable to an extent. However when paying $200 for a jacket, I would expect it not to tear so easily. Other buyers have had the same issues. It's just really disappointing how far the quality and customer service has fallen at LL Bean. It's just not worth paying the extra money for their products anymore; sorry.

This jacket may be good for walking around town, but keep it away from trees. I've had this jacket barely a year and only wore it a handful of times before I had the audacity to wear it near trees. While brushing by a tree branch, it caught and ripped the front in two spots. I was hoping LL Bean would stand behind their product, but won't do so. Buyer beware.

I was looking forward to splurging and buying this new item with birthday money from my parents. It seemed to be just what I had been looking for as a really warm "NASA" technology lightweight jacket. Fit and color are beautiful-- I'll say that as a positive...I'm a tall slender woman and find the men's medium tall in LLBean works beautifully for my build and longer arms. Unfortunately, no reviews at the time and really regret having paid that large sum of money for a jacket that is barely warm enough, with wool sweater underneath, for a typical 40+ degree Minnesota day in any season. Breezes go right through it! Maybe for a vigorous snowshoeing session, with layering, it'll work out. Too late to return, and I see others have reviewed it with the same issue of LLBean overselling its warmth factors. I've never had a problem before and trusted the wording given. Here in MN we take our outerwear seriously and want value for our money!
