I bought a pair of the 6" Bean boots; already have the 8" Thinsulate Bean boot. I bought these socks to wear with the 6" boot. I bought the XL which I believe fits 10-13. I wear a size 13, and should have known better. These run much more to the 10-11 than they do toward the 13.
So, they are a bit on the snug size, and don't come high enough up the calf for my satisfaction. Others may find them ok. It is a thick enough sock; I just wish they were made to fit 13-15.

These are actually great socks. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because the size is off. I wear an 8 1/2-9 shoe, & L.L.Beans size chart says to order a medium. I have a small foot & usually have a hard time getting socks that aren't too big, but I ordered the medium & they're way too small! The area where your heel is supposed to go is completely on the bottom of my foot. Since I've never had any problems with L.L.Beans sizes before, I thought, well, maybe they stretch. These are very well made & haven't stretched at all. I'm hoping that after washing, these will fit my girlfriends feet, & I'll buy a large.

I loved the feel of these socks on my feet but I thought that as book socks they should reach higher on my calf also they seemed much smaller after going though the laundry.

I ORDERED XXLARGE AND THEY WERE NOT LARGE AT ALL, I MADE A GIFT OUT OF THEM INSTEAD OF KEEPING THEM MYSELF

I have ordered these same socks for three years running and I can tell the quality is slipping. The material and workmanship have dropped to the point that I may not order again. As with a review that I had written before, the toe seam has crept forward toward the tip making them almost too uncomfortable to wear. Probably some people may find this OK which is why I would recommend them because of the thickness of the sock.
I hope things turn around because I do like LL Bean products.

For a boot sock they are too thin and annoyingly have to be washed in cool/warm water. I like stockings to be tough enough for hot water without fear of shrinking.

Great without shoes or slippers. Just be sure to only wear these in temperatures below 50 degrees or you may end up with moist toes. The comfort is great as advertised and quality is top notch, just be sure you really need these uber warm socks before purchase.

The toes wore through on these socks after only 2 months. They are worn only 2 hours a day. This happened with 2 pairs of socks.

Nice socks. I'm a size 10, so ordered large (according to the size chart), and I thought these were TOO large. Be aware when you order I felt like my feet were swimming in them a bit. Otherwise, thick and plush and nice. I'll see after a washing if they shrink a bit.

These socks are warm, but rather "lumpy". The toe is very wide.

Bought 3 pair. One had a serious defect with the toe seam raveling. Also not as warm as I assumed they would be.
Could have sent them back for Bean replacement, but just darned up the defect.

The length is great and they cover my legs even when my pants ride up; however, I find them stiff and as a diabetic, so I will need to wear another sock underneath these. I bought them for the warmth for hiking and I ended up ordering a different sock to put underneath.

These socks are nice looking
My issue with them concerns their expected longevity, which will surely be compromised by the relatively thin portions in the mid-foot and ankle elastic locations. And those same sections offer compromised insulation value.
The elastics undoubtedly contribute to a better fit, but I suspect these won't compare with my Smartwools for durability over the longer term.

Disappointing quality from LL Bean. The socks have a perceptible seam around the toe, and the size chart is wrong (I needed a large for size 8 shoe). I much prefer the SmartWool Trekking sock, which is about the same price.

Not by my standards. As someone who has worn a pair of boots almost everyday for a lotta years, I'll stick with the All-Sport Socks, Heavyweight Crew.

These boot socks were a little too thick for me. I suppose if you were wearing them where it is VERY cold, they would be great. I ordered several other pairs of LL bean socks that were thinner and I like those better. I returned them.

Purchased for my husband - he said the heel had a very loose fit and felt like the sock was slipping down all the time. Thought it was the shoes he was wearing, but it was the same with several different types of boots.

However, L.L. Bean as always was gracious in its return policies. I' will always shop here first and always.

Socks are great and comfortable. I should have ordered heavy duty socks because I got a blister with these socks and my hiking boots.

These are not like the first pairs that I bought. Much thinner fabric and scratchy feeling. Not as warm and cozy as the previous ones.mI a very disappointed. I gave 2 stars because they are sewn well. Would not recommend and will not buy again.

Been an LLBean customer for decades, this one surprised me.I ordered these for my husband in 2024. He started wearing them in winter 2025. 2 big ole holes in the ball of the feet within months, possibly weeks.
