Too small, then I realized its for women. Now I read the product description no thing is mentioned about gender. waste of my time and money. I bought two pairs for my diabetic feet. very disappointed.

The socks had a very chemical smell before and after the first wash. Took a couple of washes before it subsided. The inside of the socks are very rough / bulky seams. On a positive note they are soft and warm. Overall a decent sock if you are not overly sensitive to the seams.

These are very comfy, but they are not fitted. They fit, but are not snug. They slide around in my pull on boots. With lace up boots they don't slide around, but they are too thick for my lace up boots. I just wear them around the house like slippers. I would not purchase again. $24 dollars is way too much to spend for these socks. Plus there's a $7 return charge which is ridiculous considering how high-end and pricey LL Bean is. It's not worth the hassle to return without getting a full refund.

The socks are good, but you need to find a way to make the heels more durable so they don't wear out as fast

I have bought about 20 pairs of these socks over the past dozen years. At one time they were worth every penny. The last few times I purchased these socks there has been a serious drop in quality. Even today, the socks I purchased several years (after years of wear) are far superior to the socks I purchased in the last few years.

These have been my husband's favorite socks for years. That said we have noticed that they do not hold up like they used to. I have had to replace them in under 10 months. For the price I don't think this is acceptable and am looking for another brand that will last longer

The socks are nice. However, the description states "Boot" Sock, and they look tall in the picture, but they barely go over your ankle. Very disappointed.

I purchased 2 pairs of these socks. The socks U.S. XL size is described as 13-15 online. That information cannot be accurate. The true sock size is U.S. 12-13 at best if the sock is really stretched. The sock heel pad does not even cover my foot heel. I wear a size U.S. 14 shoe and this sock now noes not meet my needs. I purchase 2 pairs of this exact sock style from LL Bean for about $25 each year for many consecutive years. The latest sock manufacturer changed the sizing. Beware of XL sizing. The other qualities of the sock, e.g., thickness, durability, and materials, is superb and worth $25.

These are thick and warm which I love. They start off snug and we'll fitting in the morning but by mid day they don't fit well and become loose and start slipping off, I wish that didn't happen. They do regain their shape after being washed which is nice.

I have been buying these socks for years and the quality/warmth is not there anymore. They are no longer thick and cushiony.

I've worn these for many years but those in my recent purchase were just too small.

I bought 2 pair of these socks just recently. I had bought 2 pair of the same socks about 3 years ago also ( but one of the pups put some small holes in them so it was time for some new ones). It wasn't just my imagination that the new boot socks are thinner than the same ones that I bought a couple of years ago. They're noticeably thinner, less material. Oh well. That's the trend with so many products; don't raise the price just downsize the product instead. But they're still decent socks. They're just not heavy socks anymore, not light, just something in-between.

The Dark Heather is more like a black and grey, nothing like the picture. More importantly, they are nowhere near as heavy as the ones I bought a couple of years ago. They are not much heavier than my LL Bean medium weight hiking socks.

My husband has worn only these socks for many many years. I always purchase some at Christmas time for him. After receiving and wearing these most recent ones he said something has changed and they aren't the same. I thought he was crazy, how would anyone noticed that. I decided to call ( for confirmation) and sure enough there has been a change. It's seems only slightly but definitely enough for him to notice. Please switch back if possible.. life long customer.

Seems the reviews for the Boot Socks are mixed in with the Cresta hiking socks, so that's an issue when trying to read reviews on the Boot Socks. Overall, great socks while they last, but after a winter season, a toe hole shows up by Spring. I've been through many pairs with the same problem over the past 3 years. Almost worth it, disposing them after the season, because they are warm and work well, but not exactly ideal given the cost. Would like Bean to try to address this issue. Most of the time I am wearing them in the house no shoes one, and so the toe isn't even rubbing against anything... so there is a flaw in the sock, and it's not me overusing them. (if the heel wore out, I'd understand that might be on me).

These socks fit my feet just fine. They are thick and warm. However the elastic around the sock opening is too tight and leaves a big, soar dint in my shin skin. The only way to wear these socks is to fold down the top around the ankle. Certainlyt not what I was expecting.

These look to be comfortable and well made, but I haven't had a chance to do any winter hikes with them yet. Why? Because they are so thick they don't fit into my hiking boots! These need to be worn with large, loose-fitting boots - they won't work with snug-fitting footwear. I'm waiting for the next blizzard so that I can wear them with my snow boots.

Socks are warm and fit my size 14 feet perfectly but the heels are wearing out in just over a year of intermittent use. So buyer beware that these socks will not wear as well as Smartwool even though the price is similar.

I was disappointed in the new L.L.Bean boot socks. The fabric was lighter, not as dense. The socks didn't have as much cushioning as boot socks of the past. I won't return them, because I can use them with shoes that fit more tightly, but I need more cushioning to keep my feet from moving around and getting blisters in my Bean boots and hiking shoes. I hope that L.L.Bean will bring back boot socks with heavy cushioning for those of us who have grown used to them.

These are made of a very nice material, warm and soft on the foot. However, I found that they dont stay up as well as the Cresta socks. As such, I'll stick to the Cresta wool socks

I ordered my size but after the first wash, they were a little tight. I threw away the packaging and I don't know if they were supposed to hang dry, but they will from now on. Definitely feel warm in this frigid weather we've been having.

I purchased these for my Granddaughter and when shopping came straight to LL Bean so I would get the best. As I was wrapping them for Christmas I noticed a lot of Chinese writing on the plastic. I hope these weren't made in China or with materials from China! That would take away from the quality I'm used to
