These are thick and warm which I love. They start off snug and we'll fitting in the morning but by mid day they don't fit well and become loose and start slipping off, I wish that didn't happen. They do regain their shape after being washed which is nice.

I have been buying these socks for years and the quality/warmth is not there anymore. They are no longer thick and cushiony.

I've worn these for many years but those in my recent purchase were just too small.

I bought 2 pair of these socks just recently. I had bought 2 pair of the same socks about 3 years ago also ( but one of the pups put some small holes in them so it was time for some new ones). It wasn't just my imagination that the new boot socks are thinner than the same ones that I bought a couple of years ago. They're noticeably thinner, less material. Oh well. That's the trend with so many products; don't raise the price just downsize the product instead. But they're still decent socks. They're just not heavy socks anymore, not light, just something in-between.

The Dark Heather is more like a black and grey, nothing like the picture. More importantly, they are nowhere near as heavy as the ones I bought a couple of years ago. They are not much heavier than my LL Bean medium weight hiking socks.

My husband has worn only these socks for many many years. I always purchase some at Christmas time for him. After receiving and wearing these most recent ones he said something has changed and they aren't the same. I thought he was crazy, how would anyone noticed that. I decided to call ( for confirmation) and sure enough there has been a change. It's seems only slightly but definitely enough for him to notice. Please switch back if possible.. life long customer.

Seems the reviews for the Boot Socks are mixed in with the Cresta hiking socks, so that's an issue when trying to read reviews on the Boot Socks.
Overall, great socks while they last, but after a winter season, a toe hole shows up by Spring.
I've been through many pairs with the same problem over the past 3 years.
Almost worth it, disposing them after the season, because they are warm and work well, but not exactly ideal given the cost.
Would like Bean to try to address this issue. Most of the time I am wearing them in the house no shoes one, and so the toe isn't even rubbing against anything... so there is a flaw in the sock, and it's not me overusing them. (if the heel wore out, I'd understand that might be on me).

These socks fit my feet just fine. They are thick and warm. However the elastic around the sock opening is too tight and leaves a big, soar dint in my shin skin. The only way to wear these socks is to fold down the top around the ankle. Certainlyt not what I was expecting.

They pinch my feet when I wear them in any of my boots.

These look to be comfortable and well made, but I haven't had a chance to do any winter hikes with them yet. Why? Because they are so thick they don't fit into my hiking boots! These need to be worn with large, loose-fitting boots - they won't work with snug-fitting footwear. I'm waiting for the next blizzard so that I can wear them with my snow boots.

Socks are warm and fit my size 14 feet perfectly but the heels are wearing out in just over a year of intermittent use. So buyer beware that these socks will not wear as well as Smartwool even though the price is similar.

I was disappointed in the new L.L.Bean boot socks. The fabric was lighter, not as dense. The socks didn't have as much cushioning as boot socks of the past. I won't return them, because I can use them with shoes that fit more tightly, but I need more cushioning to keep my feet from moving around and getting blisters in my Bean boots and hiking shoes. I hope that L.L.Bean will bring back boot socks with heavy cushioning for those of us who have grown used to them.

These are made of a very nice material, warm and soft on the foot.
However, I found that they dont stay up as well as the Cresta socks. As such, I'll stick to the Cresta wool socks

I ordered my size but after the first wash, they were a little tight. I threw away the packaging and I don't know if they were supposed to hang dry, but they will from now on. Definitely feel warm in this frigid weather we've been having.

I purchased these for my Granddaughter and when shopping came straight to LL Bean so I would get the best. As I was wrapping them for Christmas I noticed a lot of Chinese writing on the plastic. I hope these weren't made in China or with materials from China! That would take away from the quality I'm used to

I bought a pair of the 6" Bean boots; already have the 8" Thinsulate Bean boot. I bought these socks to wear with the 6" boot. I bought the XL which I believe fits 10-13. I wear a size 13, and should have known better. These run much more to the 10-11 than they do toward the 13.
So, they are a bit on the snug size, and don't come high enough up the calf for my satisfaction. Others may find them ok. It is a thick enough sock; I just wish they were made to fit 13-15.

These are actually great socks. The only reason I gave them 3 stars is because the size is off. I wear an 8 1/2-9 shoe, & L.L.Beans size chart says to order a medium. I have a small foot & usually have a hard time getting socks that aren't too big, but I ordered the medium & they're way too small! The area where your heel is supposed to go is completely on the bottom of my foot. Since I've never had any problems with L.L.Beans sizes before, I thought, well, maybe they stretch. These are very well made & haven't stretched at all. I'm hoping that after washing, these will fit my girlfriends feet, & I'll buy a large.

I loved the feel of these socks on my feet but I thought that as book socks they should reach higher on my calf also they seemed much smaller after going though the laundry.

I have ordered these same socks for three years running and I can tell the quality is slipping. The material and workmanship have dropped to the point that I may not order again. As with a review that I had written before, the toe seam has crept forward toward the tip making them almost too uncomfortable to wear. Probably some people may find this OK which is why I would recommend them because of the thickness of the sock.
I hope things turn around because I do like LL Bean products.

For a boot sock they are too thin and annoyingly have to be washed in cool/warm water. I like stockings to be tough enough for hot water without fear of shrinking.

Great without shoes or slippers. Just be sure to only wear these in temperatures below 50 degrees or you may end up with moist toes. The comfort is great as advertised and quality is top notch, just be sure you really need these uber warm socks before purchase.

The toes wore through on these socks after only 2 months. They are worn only 2 hours a day. This happened with 2 pairs of socks.
