Soft but tight and run small. And they shrank when washed and dried by machine. I gave them away. Size M didn't comfortably fit husband (size 9 shoe) or wife (size 8 shoe).

Good quality but small, particularly after washing.

Other reviewers noted these socks are sized smaller than they used to be. I've worn them every winter for years, and although they do tend to wear holes in the heels, I wear them all day every day at home.
But this year they run smaller than usual, and I don't like tight socks on my feel. I'm returning and reordering more in size large.

Last fall (2020), I ordered some wonderful cotton ragg socks. Everything about them was great. They are all cotton, the right thickness, and very comfortable. They come up to mid-calf and don't fall down. I was very happy that I had finally found substitutes for my years-old, well-worn ragg socks. It's so difficult to find well made cotton rag socks of the right thickness. These days socks are all synthetic or very thin. Ugh!
In December I wanted more and thought I was buying the same socks, but turned out they weren't. They are of the same thickness and seem to be decent quality. (We'll see after washing.) BUT they are about two inches shorter than the ones I really wanted!
On top of that I ordered them early December and kept receiving emails that they were continually being back ordered and did I still want them. They finally arrived a week ago and to my dismay, they weren't what I had thought I had ordered. L.L. Bean seems to have discontinued the longer ones and I am VERY disappointed.
These shorter ones are still likely the only cotton ragg socks out there of a good thickness and decent quality though. But I feel like I have to settle.
(I would recommend these socks to a "friend" but I would make sure they were happy with the length first.)

I bought these socks because they are cute and I knew they would look good with my black shoes and boots. I wish they came in single pairs or two pairs of the same color. I did not want the gray color but had to buy it to get the black color. I also wish they were thicker at the toes so that they would last longer.

These socks aren't what I was hoping for. There's too much extra fabric in the toes and it bunches up inside my shoe. There's not enough stretch to prevent the socks from sagging and twisting so the heel ends up on the side of my foot. It's very annoying to constantly lean down and adjust them. They're fine to wear lounging around the house but I was hoping to wear them outdoors.

These are not 100% cotton and do not feel like 100% cotton.

I am a small person and, after washing, these baby socks are kind of uncomfortable. The style is terrific but the fabrication needs some work. I'll wear these out rather than return them but I don't look forward to wearing them.

These seem much too small to be the correct size. I'm a size 9 women's and bought the size medium - which says size 6-10, and there is no way I could comfortably wear these. My toes feel squished together. My son can wear a size 6 women's and they're snug on him. They are a nice thick material, but the stitching over the toes is not done well at all. There is a large bump there across the whole toe seam, so even if they fit, I wouldn't rate them higher because of the uncomfortable seam. For the price I would expect these to have smooth seams and more fabric overall. I got the mauve/burgundy set. Would not recommend or purchase again.

This is the first time I've ever been disappointed with a Bean purchase.
Way too tight & they do not keep my feet warm at all.

I'm a bit disappointed with these socks. They are very comfortable but they have a tendency to slip down on my feet.

These socks run small. The heel markings are on the instep and the toe markings are very crooked.
They are soft, but definitely not LL Bean quality!

I have purchased these socks several times in the past. I loved them. They are no longer the same. Not all cotton. They are not as comfortable. They used to be my favorite socks. I will not purchase them again.

Ordered xl or 13-15 the largest size available, but these socks are for me too small and too tight around the ankle. My normal shoe size is 12 and half.

Wonderfully thick for warm feet this winter, but omg they shrink sooooooo very much. Still able to wear, but toes hurt by the end of day.

As a size 10, I'm on the dreaded "cut off" line between size medium and large. I initially gambled on the mediums, since this is my 4th round of buying cotton ragg socks (1st set was from LLBean YEARS ago, last 2 sets were from a competitor) and I'm used to them having quite a bit of stretch. They shrank so much in a lukewarm wash/medium heat dryer, I gave them to my 9-year-olds and then bought a round of size larges for myself. They likewise shrank to the same tiny size as the mediums (we can't tell them apart!), and though they do stretch, they feel tight on my feet, like they're uncomfortably "pulling" across the bottoms. In addition, one of the medium socks already has a good-sized hole on the ankle from the first time my daughter wore it. Very disappointed overall.
I give these a "fair" rating only because the fabric is wonderfully soft. If you don't mind your socks compressing your feet, and have a lifestyle that isn't hard on socks, these would probably work for you.
Photo shows the toe-to-heel length difference in these socks (left) vs the socks I was trying to replace (right) plus the hole.

I have worn these socks for a few years and they have been great. The new socks I just ordered are shorter, tighter, and just not as comfortable. It seems there is more elastic in the sock. I wear a size 7 shoe, women's. I can't imagine someone with a larger foot size will be comfortable in these, they barely fit me.

I bought 4 pair of these Cotton Rag socks in Large, I usually buy/wear Medium, but for extra comfort & after reading reviews I decided to get Large. Well, they arrived, I tried them on & sent them back next day & ordered X-Large. I will wash them & do recommend anyone who buys them, wash in cold water & hang to dry, no dryer, even though instructions say low dryer setting, I don't want the possibility to shrink. I wear socks every day in the house instead of slippers so don't want much shrinkage. I do like the colors. I have purchased the Cotton Rag socks in the past & didn't have a problem with them running so small or tight seems that they added extra elastic to the cotton threads.

This is made of good material but the construction is not as good as other LL Bean products. It fit too tight. I am a size 9 and I normally buy medium-sized socks. I got large for this one and it is still too tight, especially around the ankle. But the material comes in nice patterns

These are nothing like the cotton ragg socks that I purchased from LL Bean a few years ago. The new socks run very small, I wear a ladies size 10 and purchased the Large (size 10-12). They are stretched to the max, can't imagine that they will last long without my toe poking out.
