I love the socks, except sizing. I wear a 9 women's shoe so first ordered a medium - too small. Then a large - still too small. Now going for an XL. Again, great socks, just sizing issue brings down 2 stars.

Yellow ones First wash on cold, tumble dry low. it said machine wash and dry. Other than that the socks are so nice and thick. Definitely buying the men's sizes next time. I'm a 6.5 womens and these were the medium size. Striped are not washed yet.

These socks seem to be a tad small. They do stretch - way more that LLBean's old cotton rag socks that I've worn forever & loved. They are colorful. Wash well - I've let them air dry to prevent any shrinkage.

I like the material which has a lot of cotton, and I like the thickness of these socks. They are not really too comfortable for me because they only come up a short way on the leg. I bought these socks in the past and it seems that now they are smaller and not coming up the leg very far.

The fabric feels nice but these aren't anything like my previous pair of LL Bean socks by the same name. These are extremely stretchy, the previous pair was as expected, mostly cotton with just enough stretch to stay up. These are tiny, look like a young child's sock until I put them on and they stretched out. But even with that, the size Large is supposed to fit Women's shoe size 10-12, and were too small for me (Women's shoe size 11.) I'm exchanging them for size XL and hoping those stretch out enough to fit. I miss the old cotton ragg socks.

Either these socks are way under sized or someone is trying to make more socks with less material. I am a Women's size 7 but fortunately, I read the reviews on these socks ahead of time. Reviews said that these socks ran small. So... I ordered size Men's Large. I got them today and they barely fit (too small). Yes, they stretched on but really, very small for the size. Now, I am afraid to wash them because if they get any smaller they won't fit. The alternative is to return them and get a Men's XL for my tiny little foot. Nice colors though.

Wow! These socks are way, way shorter than the same product purchased a few years ago. That is not a deal breaker, just a sign of the times. That said, the stitching on the toe seam of one of the blue socks began to unravel after one washing. That is a bummer! They don't cost enough to bother returning them. I haven't darned socks in a really long time but that's gonna happen. LL Bean, why not make socks like you used to and charge more?

I would definitely size up on these. I wear a woman's size 9.5 and bought a medium, and these socks barely fit. I have only worn them a couple of times so I don't know quality wise how these are going to hold up over time.

They are not the soft, loose sock they were previously. Instead full of elastic that makes them tight. I did not have trouble wearing them, but I much prefer the pure slouchy cotton!!! I won't order these again.

somewhat small...i have a size 10 foot...comfortable...colors seem to be suited for a female...

My wife really, really, really loved these socks when they arrived. We even got them slightly marked down. Cotton version of her favorite wool socks sounded great. She got one wear out of them at the correct size, loved them all day, and put them in the laundry. Lo and behold, they came out of the dryer legit looking like toddler socks. She can't even get them on her feet anymore. And we don't even dry on hot, specifically to mitigate shrinkage like this. I'm sort of mystified. It's like the socks WANTED to shrink no matter what. Anyway, sending them back now because we don't have kids, which would be the only sized foot that these would fit now. So, stars awarded to the socks in their original form because they were pretty rad back then, but stars deducted for basically being a one-time-use product and forcing me through the hassle of returning them (and I'm sure the shipping fee will be deducted out of my refund, like Bean always seems to do). Disappointed.

Very comfortable but take 2-3 days to dry after coming out of the dryer. They shrink to half the original size after the first wash but stretch back readily.

The 2 pair of socks were different sizes. One was the right size and the other way too small.

Dear Lord these are tiny! By the time you stretch them over your foot and to just below crew sock level, their more like hosiery than socks, and certainly not heavy rag wool socks

Size is stated as xxx TO 12. I wear an 11.5. It works, but VERY tight. We'll see what it's like in a year.

This is the first time I've ever been disappointed by an LLBean product. I wear a size 10 shoe, so I ordered Large (10-12), but these sizes must be for elves. Sure, they stretch to double their size and kind of fit me, but that's not what I want from a pair of socks. I gave them to my wife.

Yes I can stretch these onto my man's size 11 foot, but they fit my wife's size 6 foot nicely and she loves them. Wish I could find some large cotton ragg socks.

Does shrink a little. Would suggest the wool ragg instead

They run super small. I am a size 7 shoe and bought the medium. Wished I had bought the large.

I read the other reviews before I purchased these socks, so I had an idea of what I was getting. If you don't like your socks snug, they are indeed too small. I bought the largest and they are tight. I doubt that they will last very long. The sizes might be more correct for women. They are NOT unisex. And even if they are the correct size for you, they will be snug. Lots of spandex in these socks.

These run very small. I would definitely buy a size up. I bought Men's Large and they look like kid's size.
