The color of the inside pockets lessens the quality of the garment. Not what I would expect from L.L. Bean..

Not as good as they used to be. Too many pockets and all that fabric in the torso make it too bulky. This is my go to jacket for cool mornings. I put it on to eat breakfast and start writing first thing in the morning. Then it goes on the back of the chair. This model doesn't work anymore. Sorry, but I like my old ones better.

Bulkier than I expected.I've had the llBean corduroy shirts in the past and loved them. This one has a straight bottom and side pockets. I washed the two shirts I bought, hoping that I would like them but the extra bulk from the pockets located at the bottom makes them more like jackets than shirts.

I completely wore out my last corduroy relaxed shirt and was thrilled to see that it was back! Unfortunately, it's not quite what I was hoping for. The shirt material is comfy and it's roomy for wearing over a turtleneck but the first thing I'm going to do is remove those inner denim pockets. I'm actually embarrassed for L.L. Bean over those pockets! As others have mentioned, I would love to see the old style back.

llBean: If it's not broken, don't fix it. The front pockets are made out of what appears to be a very light weight denim. The pockets are the whole front of the garment. Not a normal pocket. Overpowering. Makes the garment heavy and not in a good way. I know how to sew so I took them out. My seam ripper was working overtime. The picture is one pocket. 12" x 9 1/2". But I love the new colors except Deep Admiral Blue is not available ANYWHERE in the United States or online. And please make this longer for women that want to wear this with leggins.

The quality of this shirt is substantial, and it is as close to the correct fit as a generic-sized shirt can get. I also like the saddle color, which coordinates nicely with blue jeans. But compared to the L.L.Bean corduroy relaxed shirts in my closet from past purchases, the current version has been turned into a pseudo-jacket. And unless a female has very small breasts, having two chest pockets is an unflattering style -- in this, L.L.Bean should have left well enough alone.

I have purchased this corduroy shirt three times in the past. It is my go to for early morning and after sunset. However, the new version is not nearly as good a product. it has a lot more pockets, with two silly additions in a different fabric tacked into the inside. I don't know if you have changed fabric or the extra pockets make it so heavy, but I don't like this version. Simpler was better. Not too heavy and not too light. This one is not great and I probably won't wear it.

I was all set to buy one of these until I read about the changes - shorter with awful pocket design. What a disappointment. I have two of the old style and will just wait until LLB figures it out.

Nice shirt but the color wasn't exactly what I wanted. I wanted more of a brown not tan. The shirt fits and falls where I wanted. I

I have had one of the original LL B corduroy shirts for years and it gets softer with every wash and I wear it constantly over turtlenecks in the winter . I wanted the new saddle color but when I received it , the 1st thing I noticed was the bright BLUE cotton fabric they used for the side pocket linings . I often wear this shirt open but the poor, loosely constructed pockets and the awful selection of fabric and color of the lining just ruins the beautiful color and soft corduroy on the outside of the shirt . WHY did you do this LLBean ? The color was perfect but back to your warehouse this goes ! I predict these shirts will be 1/2 price or less soon due to the poor pocket construction which ruins an otherwise beautiful shirt

I have 4 others of this same shirt that I ordered sz. small because they ran big and they all fit great. However, I had to exchange my last one for a sz. medium because the design has changed drastically in the sleeves and around the chest. It is much tighter. Even the sz. medium is tighter than my old ones in the sleeves. Still a great shirt but beware.

Photos and other reviewer comments are correct--the pockets are pretty bad. I got the dusty pink and the contrasting cheap fabric on the poorly sewn pockets looks bad, making it necessary to wear this shirt with the buttons closed at all times. It is a bit boxy in style, but I didn't particularly mind that aspect since it is reflected in llbean's product photos. It has a bit too much fabric bulk on the cuffs when you roll them. That said, I kept the shirt since the corduroy itself was very nice, good color, warm and soft--great for wearing around the house. I will use as a bed jacket type of thing....

A couple of months ago Iveas all ready to buy several new ones,. I have several of these that I have purchased in the past & love them.nit was time to replace them. I did not like the looks of the cut. I decided to wait to hear feedback. I am glad I did wait. since a number of repeat customers had the same opinion that I had. PLEASE bring back the old style & cut. I do love some of the new colors, but won't be purchasing unless there is a change.

Let me start by saying my height and weight would make one think I would wear an XL at best and I normally do; however, this top runs really big and is boxy, so I can size down. The only thing I can't do is button right at the bust as it's a bit tight. I used to love these shirts and have 2-3 colors at a time. The fabric is nice and very soft and the shirt is comfortable...but....the pockets they added to the side seams are useless because you can't put anything heavier than a Kleenex in them or they sag and bulge out. One shirt and it has 4 pockets? Two on the front and two on the side? Overkill for certain. Would rather just have 1 pocket at the chest level and none other than that. I also swear the shirt is boxier/wider in the body than my last one a few years ago, which no one looks good in. Lastly, LLBean used to offer nice long-sleeve, crew neck top in solid and/or stripe in the same colors as the shirt. It made a really sharp outfit and I always purchased the tops and the shirts. They don't offer them anymore and that was the final straw. Back it went and I won't order again unless some styling changes are made.

I have so many of the original corduroy shirts and I LOVE them, so when these new colors came out I was thrilled!!They went into back order rather quickly so I just received them both, less than a week ago. I had ordered Saddle and Mauve Pink. The actual corduroy fabric is quite substantial and soft, but the style is too short and boxy looking. This style is highly unflattering. The pockets are too high and of a horrible fabric. PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL STYLE!! Sadly, I had to return both in size medium, hoping that a large would be more like a Big Shirt. I'm hoping that you go back to the original styling in the next season.

I purchased this item a few years ago and loved it. So, I expected the same when I ordered this one, but have been sorely disappointed. The changes are small and yet important. Now the shirt has an extra breast pocket and two side pockets. The extra material is taken from the back panel which is now almost two inches shorter. Instead of the corduroy material extending to the side hems,it's now some kind of plain cotton. These changes make the shirt less roomy, the feel less luxurious. You can do better, LL Bean!

bring back the old style corduroy shirt in the full size range . i will keep this , but its a disappointment , it isn't mauve , i knew that, because mauve is lavender ., its dusty rose which i like enough , it is not the clear pink pictured . the lower pockets were a mistake , even the design were okay, they should have been lined with matching color. that was a cheap idea, beaners . and the brown plastic faux something buttons are truly cheap looking . i will replace them as i did every single one on the 8 of these i bought in the original design.as i will on the bright blue one when it arrives. unless it isnt the bright royal blue the agent described. if it isnt i will send it back with a complimentary box of crayons. you've had this color problem for awhile . i order aqua, i get mint . i order country pink i get peach, i order blush pink, i get vivid pink. really . get a color chart something. i will keep this shirt. you have discontinued so many of your plus size blouses, and stock so few of them, it is hard to find anything . but you would sell me t shirts. i dont want tshirts. i want flannel oxford cloth and corduroy. i want the best of the what the best store had. but you've quit me pretty much. bean. and broken my heart. i will keep this shirt, b ut i wont wear it til i change the buttons . i will not wear it has confidently nor as proudly has i have worn the others, nor do i expect compliments. its not as nice looking.

I bought my usual size and was surprised to find that the shirt ran small and that it wasn't long enough to count as a big shirt. (I'm 5'3" and purchased the regular size, not petite.) Given the long wait for this backordered item, it's not worth exchanging it for a larger size. This one was a rare disappointment with LLBean.

I was so glad to see that LLBean had brought back the corduroy comfort shirt. I ordered a size Regular Small in Admiral Blue. Sadly, I do not like the "new design and fit of this shirt. The bottom hem is quite wide, the shirt is shorter in length and the sleeves are more trim fitting. The overall fit is "shorter and more boxy." I do wish that LLBean has brought the "original design and fit" when they decided to bring this shirt back into their inventory.

I have had three of the big shirts (corduroy) that I absolutely loved. I was going to order some new ones because I have lost a lot of weight recently, but after reading the reviews, I will wait until the original version is back. The new version is apparently bulkier yet runs a bit small. I can wait.

I was so ecstatic to see that the shirts were back that I ordered 4 - in case they cancelled the style again. I currently have 4 that have been washed and worn for years and do need replacing but the new shirts are smaller - even before washing. Across the back and shoulder seams they are about 2 inches shorter and about 1 1/2 inches shorter across each front panel. {Back length seems the same.} Also agree with others that the pockets are terrible - they are just like the review picture - hanging down and silly. Am returning them for next size up and will eliminate the pockets myself.

Loved the large cord and wanted to wear as an alternative to a heavy cardigan. Unfortunately it was too short in length hitting just below belt line. With description stating "relaxed" I thought it would fit a bit oversized enough cover my bum. Returned and wish it had been offered in Tall. Perhaps next year LLBean?

Have had several of these shirts in the past. Old ones ran larger & were longer. Prefer that style. New one too short; don't care for the pockets. Haven't decided if I'll return it. Do like the pink color.

Not what I'd consider a "big shirt". A little on the small side. Sleeves not roomy enough to wear a sleeved shirt under it, and it's too short overall. But the worst feature: the side pockets. They're huge inside and aren't tacked down, so they just flop, and the pocket entry is so small I could barely get my hand into it. Once in, the pockets are too large. I was hoping for an old fashioned "big shirt", roomy and longer. The side pockets are an epic fail. Fabric is nice, though, and colors are pretty.
