Appreciate LL Bean bringing back the corduroy big shirt because it's the only thing I wear in the winter. I like the fabric, soft and plush, and the fit is pretty much the same as the original. But what's with all the pockets? Especially the stupid side pockets. This isn't a jacket, it isn't long enough. It's a shirt and who wants side pockets in a shirt which do nothing except add bulk. Fortunately I'm a seamstress and can easily get rid of them. But honestly, just leave them out of future versions.

Having purchased at least 8 of these comfort corduroy shirts in the past, I was so distressed when this item was discontinued a year or so ago. And consequently I was really excited to see it back in the catalog, and a little intrigued about the addition of side seam pockets. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of those pockets because somehow they make the shirt pooch out around the hips, which most of us certainly don't need. Still, though, the shirt is comfy and the quality seems good. And I think it's a smidgen longer than the original shirt, which is fine by me.

I love that the shirt returned finally - but have to say - I am not impressed with any of the pockets. That's the one thing I really don't like about it at all. All 4 pockets are unappreciated on this shirt - and I have several of the Big Shirt - in a lot of colors - over several years - and loved them all just plain as they were originally. I would hope people take this into consideration......

i like the comfort but not crazy about the hemline as it seems bulky and awkward.

I own three of these. I really like the new shorter style but the double side pockets on each side are so bulky they make you look a wide as a barn door. I carefully cut them out and stitched the openings closed. Doing this created a much slimmer look. Go back to no pockets on the sides or at least single pockets. I would not recommend this present style to a friend because of the pockets. It was a lot of work and very aggregating having to remove them.

The material is rough, not soft like a previous shirt I purchased years ago . It fits a bit larger than the size but that is an issue.

Why are all LL Bean tops so short? I'm only 5'4" and they are usually too short. I even bought this top in a TALL (hoping to wear it with leggings). Returned.

The corderoy was not as soft as expected, but it was the pockets that just did not hang right. The inside of the pockets bagged out if the shirt was not buttoned shut.

I have purchased many of these over several years, but only one in this newer version. The fabric, fit and quality are all good, but the current version is too bulky with two breast pockets and the thick band around the bottom. Please bring back the single pocket and simple hemmed bottom edge!!

This was a disappointing purchase. The fabric and color (foggy blue) are beautiful but I wanted a shirt and this is cut like a jacket. It has on-seam pockets and is very roomy around the hips which was not flattering on me. I am 5'9" so I ordered a tall (I have a long torso) as the instructions specified, but it was way too long. I probably have 5 or 6 of these shirts in various colors. They used to be just corduroy shirts but then someone had the idea to make them shirt jacs. Now they are bad. They have side "jacket" pockets which create this excess fabric that make the shirts bunch up and make you look fatter. The excess inside fabric doesn't lay flat and it's annoying AND who really needs pockets like this? I think it's way more unattractive to wear and I really hope LLBean goes back to the old way. Who even thought this addition was necessary? I bet it was a man. The entire women's clothes industry is built on minimal pockets so women's pants don't bulge. This is beyond bulging, this looks like you have something under your shirt. LLBean has been known for decades to have these Big Corduroy shirts for women, the need to change something so popular to something so unappealing is unappealing. I wouldn't say don't buy them, although, I will not be buying any more until this excess fabric idea is removed or maybe I will never buy another one again. The reason I have so many old ones is because of all the different colors. If there was a color I liked, I bought it. I don't think I'll be doing that anymore.

This is a corduroy version of a denim jacket. Not what I was hoping for. The tunic version is far too long and would look cute with tights. The rose color is alittle darker than photo of model but not as dark as the swatch to choose the color. Old Rose

The shirt fits well and looks good. However, I am disappointed in the fabric, because it was advertized as being soft. However, it is rather hard and stiff. I hope it will get softer with every wash, but right now if does not feel comfortable.

I'm 5'1" 130. I bought Petite Small. The shirt itself is quality, and well made. The material was great! It did fit. However, the cut had no "structure." It looked like a potato sack on me. I do have short legs, so this cut was not flattering on me. My 21yr old granddaughters like that "bigger" look in shirts, but it just wasn't me.

The shirt fit nicely and I like the material, but the cuffs are way too tight. I couldn't fit the cuff over my Apple Watch.

I love the corduroy shirts and tunics. I have 4, different colors, both styles. They are soft, comfortable to wear and are great for layering. A great purchase!!

I thought this would be a dark gray, misunderstood the color. IMO the fabric seemed like it had already been washed too many times. Somehow the fit was off and did little for me too. Just a bit underwhelmed with this piece. Sent back and still waiting for my refund. It's been a couple of weeks.

I ordered this in two sizes, the small which I exchanged for a medium as shoulders seems a bit tight. The small fit well otherwise and no issues with the pockets. The medium was an okay fit but then the problem with the pockets that others have mentioned. So the fit was off for me and I returned both. I'd say if you are between sizes, go with the smaller for the best chance of success. I am 5'4", 128 pounds, 34B, curvy on bottom. I got the rose color which was lighter in color than I expected but okay anyway.

I usually wear a large but this shirt was way too big so I returned it. They were out of the mediums so I did not replace it

Each time these come up or are noticed in the catalogue my partner expresses a bit of excitement. Then, after seeing it still has the hem pockets, it's a no-go. She doesn't like extra bulk. We did order one once, but returned it for that reason.

I bought this shirt as a replacement for a worn out corduroy shirt I purchased from LL Bean over 10 years ago. This new shirt was a real disappointment. NO chest pocket, and the big open pockets at the bottom of this new shirt are worthless (no way to keep anything in the pockets), and the pockets (even empty) are so heavy that they pull the shirt out of shape unless the shirt is completely buttoned up.
Disappointed,

I remember the days when this shirt was one of the best. It was well cut and comfortable, excellent weight corduroy, looked good and was substantial. Please Beans, go back to the corduroy shirt you made 20 years ago. This new shirt is flimsy and kind of messy looking. Forgive me, but you had the best corduroy shirt anywhere, but no longer.

This shirt jacket is comfortable but is too rumpled for my needs. The hemline sticks out on the sides and it feels oversized. Love the idea, but!
