Comfort plus warmth. Found the wool to be slightly itchy, but under garment solved the problem. Excellent item

This is unequivocally the best sweater I have ever had! So good I just ordered one for each of my three sons. All wool (hard to find these days), the right weight to wear indoors or out, tightly enough woven to cut the wind. Not itchy at the collar. Just a super product.

This is the finest and warmest sweater I've ever owned. I have two, because I liked the first one I bought so much I added another color. Doesn't itch, machine washable, tough, warm, and attractively styled. Most of the people I run into compliment me on the sweater and ask where I got it. I have two commando sweaters I like as well, but they aren't in the same league as this one at all. Is it warm? For the last two years I've hunted pheasants in actual blizzards. High winds, blowing snow, and wind chills below zero. All I wear is a polar weight Polartec top, this sweater, and my game vest. It is still almost too warm! I'd give this thing 10 stars if I could. The only thing I would change is to replace the integrated knit shoulder and elbow patches with suede, as I'm curious about the long term durability of the knit patches. But then again, I really put this sweater through a lot of abuse.

I bought this sweater in long to provide length past my waist and to allow it to fit over layers o clothes. I ordered it on Monday, and received it on Friday prior to my trip. I wore a unlined military style jacket over it, and the sweater over a t shirt and LL bean undershirt. I did not get cold sitting in 10 degree weather in a duck blind. Can't wait to use it in the duck blind next year. Great item. Will buy another if this one ever wears out.

I found the fit and quality to be excellent...I wear a size medium, product fit as advertised. This is a durable sweater, I intended to save it for deer season as a layer under a parka but find myself wearing it to the office! The liner on the inside of the collar ends the itch normally associated with this style of wool sweater.

Very good! Looks good, feels warm. I will probably buy another.

January 2010, 34 degrees, 22 degrees windchill factor--damp, windy and cold. An hour standing around at the dog park with a river driver undershirt, an ll bean turtle neck, an ll bean chamois shirt and this sweater---warmth!! Comfortable, warm, and looks great on. My only complaint is the bottom hem could be a little tighter so I could wear it at my hips.

At -5 I needed an extra layer in the stand & this is just what I was looking for. A good heavy wool sweater. It runs a little big which is perfect for layering. Not a big fan of the way it zips at the neck but everything else about it is perfect. Now that deer season is over I cant wait to wear it when I go ice fishing.

I needed a heavy warm sweater, nothing fancy, and this did the trick. I have plenty of dress sweaters, so this is a nice addition to the wardrobe. I look forward to trying it out in upstate New York winter conditions.

I purchased this sweater for my 40 year old son for Christmas. I chose it because the style was very attractive. I looked nicer in person than it did on-line. He told me it was very comfortable and warm when he wore it.

This sweater is much nicer than I was expecting. It is warm, roomy, and well-made. The collar comes up quite high when zipped up, so it will only really work if you have a normal to long neck. The brown color is true the description.

I bought this for my hubby for his bday. He loved it so much, he is getting another one for Christmas! He says it is really warm and keeps the cold wind off of him.

Have worn this sweater three times this season while duck hunting. It is the perfect weight for cold days in our part of the country (15 to 35 degrees). As always it is very well made.

Great sweater. Keeps me warm and dry. Use it as a base layer when hunting sea or puddle ducks, or when shooting clays in the cold, or when I'm going out in the cold. I use it all the time. Liked it so much, I bought a second one. Great product.

This Waterfowl Sweater is an excellent product! I own many sweaters and this sweater is my new favorite by far! The wool is soft. The inner collar is a really soft suede. The knitting is solid, and really well knit which makes it really warm. I really like how this sweater looks with jeans, but it's classy enough to wear with more dressy pants. The one thing I would like to share is that I found this sweater runs a little large. I have ordered several sweaters from L.L. Bean in the past in a size large, and they fit just fine. This Waterfowl Sweater fit me perfectly in a size medium.

I've had this sweater for a couple of weeks and worn it a couple of times. Like the other reviewers, I am very pleased with the comfort and warmth of this sweater. I have a tall version of the sweater and it fits me very well. I like the look of the sweater very much. The only thing that took a little getting used to was the collar. I'm not sure if you're supposed to wear it up or down.

This sweater is true to size, great looking, very well constructed, rugged, and most importantly warm!! I live on the coast of Maine. I needed a sweater that can withstand high wind and sheer cold. The Waterfowl fits the bill!

Have tried finding a good quality wool sweater both locally in stores, and online. One online company sent something that looked OK in the picture but was flimsy/thin when it got here. This sweater is everything it claims to be. I really like 100% wool----seems to act like an automatic thermostat for me. If I'm sitting doing nothing, it's fine, but if I'm outdoors on a cool/cold day, it works also. The only downside to wool is that it can be scratchy. That doesn't seem to be the case at all with this sweater. The soft collar prevents any itching whatsoever. I'm 6'0" tall, thin-framed. I checked the sizing on the website and ordered a medium/regular. Fits perfectly. The wool yarn in this sweater has a feel that I can only describe as the EXACT OPPOSITE of dry and scratchy. Feels good. If you're looking for a warm, "competent" sweater, I believe you'd like this one.

this sweater is so warm. It is a great sweater that is not to bulky. It keeps you warm with only one layer under it so you can still move. It is a great wind blocker and is not to rough of a material.

This sweater was the first item I ordered for myself from LL Bean, and I love it. It is thick, warm, and comfortable. I am 6'2" and considered buying the "tall" size, but the regular fits me well.

Bought to wear flyfishing with and without a Gore-Tex shell. Was amazed by weight of the sweater but once it was on a bit I didn't notice it. Dense enough I can leave the shell stowed in my fishpack more than expected. Plenty of arm room plus the weave stretches. Collar took some getting use to but closed it keeps out drafts on the hike back to the truck. Really like the color and that it is wool. Had gotten tired of polar fleece type cloth and its static. Has worked well in yard and when shoveling snow too. Briars and my Wooly Buggers have gotten caught, made pulls on the sleeves (building character) but I expected that - its a work/play/fly fish sweater, not office wear. Went back for the vest for when I want arms freer but need chest and back to stay warm.

Gave this to my husband, he wears it almost everyday instead of a coat. I'm going to buy another just so I can get the 1st one off his back to clean it. Real MAN sweater.

I got this sweater for my husband who does not usually wear sweaters. He LOVES it! He usually gets overheated in heavy clothing. He told me that this one is great. It breathes and is just all around comfy. I would highly recommend it.
