I usually wear this sweater with my LL Bean ultralight down jacket. Even though its sleeves are bulky my arms do not feel constricted in this jacket's sleeves. I have worn them in temperatures ranging from 25 - 40 degrees F. One odd thing about this sweater's wind proof lining is the crackling sound the lining makes when I move. Might be a problem for a hunter who is trying to be silent stalking the prey

I already have a few LL Bean cardis and wooly jumpers, but still wanted another - this one is quite roomy (i do wish they made it in a girl's version or x-small men) warm and cosy - it will be perfect for Scottish winters and snow!

This is the warmest sweater I have found, especially for outside when you don't want to wear a jacket, or inside on really cold days. It also fits nicely. It's a bit itchy so recommend wearing it with a turtleneck or long-sleeved shirt.

This sweater is terrific. The weight of the material is substantial and it seems like it will last a long time. One note about sizing: I often by a large and seem to fall in the size charts between a medium and a large. I tried the sweater on at a local store before buying and a size medium is plenty big enough, It's a super sweater.

This is a very nice sweater. Good quality (as usual) but I wish I had read the reader reviews before I placed my order. This sweater runs a bit larger than normal so I had to return it for a smaller size. Can't wait for the sweater to arrive.

After just a week, this sweater is already like a favorite pair of jeans I've had for years. It's comfortable and warm -something I can wear both indoors and outdoors on cold days. Looks nice too. Unbelievable quality and value for the price. Might just buy another in a different color.

The return of a classic! I'm very glad to see the older, classic styling coming back to clothing! The clothing of the Wool Sweater Hey-Day was not only great looking, but functional as well. Because, after all, people didn't care about style as much as they cared about a good value (i.e. something which would be durable, as well as warm etc...). LL Bean has brought back these classic style's over the years, producing many top notch "winners"... and this is no exception to that rule! An "A" One winter classic! Thanks LL BEAN! Keep them coming! PS. Only recommendation is to wash a few times to soften and remove the "stored wool" odor. The sizing is dead on (slightly large, which shrinks like all wool a tiny bit after washing. DO NOT DRY unless you need a sweater for your doll collection)! After that, you can go out and conquer those mountains! See you all on Mount Washington!

This sweater runs a big baggy, yet its unique style weave, and articulate lines make up for any possible shortcoming in a slightly exaggerated sizing. Should you be, par example, a man who generally finds that the XL size is appropriate, you would best be advised to purchase a Bean Waterfowl Sweater sized L; particularly, if you find yourself on the lean size (and tall), the XL will hang on your body. Should you like loose-fitting sweaters, then you may want to order your normal size. The fabric is not particularly itchy, yet it does have the smell, feel and countenance of medium quality wool. I would recommend the purchase of this sweater, should the wearer live in a cooler climate in the Dakotas, the upper midwest or New England. Should you live in a mid-Atlantic state, you may also desire this sweater, albeit your wearing season may be a bit less lengthy. In keeping with the Bean tradition of producing garments that will test the lengths (and wear) of time, this particular item will prove its worth in your collection of cool season clothes.

Bought one last year and liked it so much that I just got another. Soft, flexible, very warm. Men's small fits petite female perfectly with room for base layers.

Seriously warm. The only sweater I've ever warn consistently as a cold-weather layer, not a general use "top". I use mine several days a week as either my jacket or a heavy layer for walking the dog in New England winter (it's a wind chill of +6F today and I wore it with a light Bean fleece vest, over a flannel shirt, no jacket). If you're very sensitive to wool, this sweater is not as soft as the other merino products I own. You may find it itchy. I find non-merino wool itchy and can't wear it for long. The Waterfowl sweater is just below my itch-threshold.

- This is easily the most comfortable sweater I have ever worn. I am thinking about purchasing another in a different color. For me, this sweater is sized a little more on the roomy/larger side. I normally wear a medium, but that was much too large for this sweater. I returned the medium for a small, which is great. BTW - the return process with L.L. Bean is a snap - no problems.

I originally bought this for myself in dark brown , hoping that a small mens size would do for me, but it was too bulky. The sweater was just too soft and luscious to return so I decided to try my nephew. It was a perfect fit and now he owns a gorgeous sweater. I only wish it came in womens sizes. How about it, L.L. Bean. Women hunt too!

This is a classy sweater that has already earned me several complements! The style and fit are perfect. I find it to be comfortable and very warm. I can wear just a shirt under the sweater even when the temperature is in the 30's. I don't feel the wind or chill when wearing it, and yet when the temperature warms up, I don't feel hot in it. Great value.

I bought this sweater as a Christmas gift for my son so I won't know for sure whether iit's as good as I think it is until he wears it. But the weight is heavy, the knit is attractive, the color (tan/brown) is very nice, and all in all, I am very satisfied with it.

The day after I received this sweater was one of the coldest days of the winter in Portland Oregon ( around 19 degrees F). I had to ride the bus across town and the bus (of course) was late. I remember watching others obviously freezing cold but I was toasty warm in my new Waterfowl Sweater from LL Bean. Great sweater! Thanks again LL Bean. Cons: As well made as this sweater is, it is a bit itchy. I wore a long-sleeved t shirt underneath and it was just fine.

I just received this sweater today and am very impressed! It is a little heavier than I thought it would be but gives the impression of quality. The fit is comfortable, not tight or binding and runs true to size though the sleeves might be just a little long. I'm really not much of a sweater guy but I'm glad I decided to buy this one.

Love it! In fact, I order two more in different colors, and have also ordered this sweater with the windstopper for hunting season.

I got the sweater in brown for my husband- it is great. Masculine, warm, outdoorsy... for someone who likes the outdoors or not. This sweater is exactly the kind of thing that keeps me coming back to LL Bean.
