Last pair hubby had lasted 15 years. These fit just the same and he is very pleased with the gift.

These shoes are well made and comfortable. Ordering a size smaller than your normal was just right.

Okay, first things first, this review is long due! I had received these pair of shoes a little over a month ago but I forgot to write a review for it! I'll tell you this is going to be the best investment you will make and your feet will thank you for it! Plus, this is coming L.L. Bean! You know that you're receiving a well made item and that it is also made in the USA! Thank you L.L. Bean and thank you all those workers!

I've had these over ten years now, and I've been quite pleased. They felt a little big, so a pair of ragg wool socks solved that problem. These are great for being outside in the snow and cold here in northern Missouri. This is money well spent.

Initially bought the LL Bean Moccasin but found I needed a lace-up shoe that would stay put. This one does the job and is ideal for summer wear on our dewy mornings in NE Tennessee!

After forty-five years, my LL Bean gum shoes are starting to wear out. I bought them in 1972. I have worn them mostly while gardening and mowing the lawn. Since I got my money's worth out of these shoes, I just bought a new pair. They'll outlast me, so I will leave them to my son.

When the things under foot are wet, cold, or muddy these are the go to shoes. And the sizing recommendation is spot on correct.

Maybe it's just me, but I had trouble finding them on the site for some time, and have been doing my best to wear my old ones out - which must be going on 20 years old. Either way, very glad to see them available, recommend to anyone. Great for camping, backyard, short hikes, and rainy/snowy/muddy weather. Going to order a new pair. Thanks L.L.Bean!!

Very well built comfortable shoe. Perfect for light snow or rainy weather. These shoes are very comfortable and offer great support. They do run slightly large. The only improvement I can think of is to make the laces a bit longer as I like to double tie my shoe laces to keep them secure.

Knowing the name and quality of LL Bean products, I bought my second pair of gum shoes since my last pair finally wore out after 17 years. I love the shoe particularly in the Maine environment (snow, mud, etc). Bean's has great quality products.

Pay attention to the guidelines for sizing. I normally wear a 10.5 but ordered a size 9. They fit great. I ordered these right after Christmas and they werent supposed to arrive until March 27, but I received them on January 6. Thats awesome service. Also want to say a thank you to Jean who made my boots. Great job!

Let me first get sizing out of the way: I normally wear a size 9, so ordered a size 8 and it's fits fine. There are two things about this boot that I like that I don't think have been mentioned by others. Firstly, I was looking for a boot with soles that are easy to clean after walking in mud. Many boots have numerous small crevices that get filled with mud, making clean-up a pain. Not these. A quick rinse and the mud is gone. Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised by the laces. Not only are they attractive and a good length (not too long, so I don't have to double-tie them to keep the bows from touching the ground), but they stay tied.

Very comfortable and steel shank provides plenty of support. Follow sizing instructions for proper fit.

These are great. Size runs large as indicated and you do have to order 1 to 1.5 size smaller. I usually wear 10.5 medium but ordered a size 9. This produced a good and comfortable fit. I find these to be very nice to wear walking through wet grass and on rainy days. My feet stay dry. There is little insulation and may not be warm enough during very cold weather unless one wears very heavy socks.

The shoes are great as well as the service. I couldn't believe it when they showed up several days early. Ordered a size small as recommended and could have almost gone another size smaller but will be fine with real heavy socks and an extra insole liner. I do wish the shoe laces were a tad bit longer and not be so stiff. It is like a wire is in the middle. I may have to replace them as they are hard to lace and tie. They keep my feet warn and dry so that is the main function.

I now have two pairs of Bean Boots. One is insulated and ankle high, the other is shoe height and not insulated. This combination gives me a year-round capability for when its muddy, snowy, wet, and/or cold. Bean's sizing recommendations for these boots are very accurate and a must read before you purchase a pair via the internet. They do run large. Also, you should wear heavy (sweat socks) socks with them. I like wool Wigwam sweat socks with mine. Wool is low tech but still wonderful! My boots are very well made and appear to be constructed with premium materials and meticulous craftsmanship. I fully expect these boots to be a durable part of my outdoor wardrobe. The only other pair of boots similar to what I own that I would consider purchasing would be Sorrels. But, I just don't go up to Alaska these days! LL Bean fills my requirements to a "T."

1) Great shoe 2) Can LLBean offer it with thinsulate? You used to. 3)I just followed the sizing instructions and ordered down a size, from my normal shoe size, as I do with my LLBean boots of similar design. But my boots were offered with thinsulate. Hint, hint LLBean. 4) I love these Bean shoes and boots especially since they are offered in Wide. And they can be resoled very reasonably by LLBean. 5) Order as soon as they become available or you'll have to wait a year to order. I was able to order in time this year and it came after 2-3 months.

Find out how the boots are supposed to fit before you buy. I forgot this when I bought my last pair, and just ordered my regular size. This was the first time I ordered the boots from the catalog. Previously, I purchased them from "The Store". When I got the on-line boots, they fit very loose. So I called "The Store". I was told for general reference, that the boots were sized to fit with a couple of pairs of medium socks. So now I wear them with two pairs of sneaker socks (ankle socks?). Every ten to fifteen years or so these boots have to be replaced. I wear mine mostly for yard work now, so they last longer. I'd recommend them to anyone.

I have been buying this same style boots from LL Bean for over 40 years. I just recently bought my fourth pair. So, do the math and you will see why I keep buying more. I wear them all the time fishing coastal Georgia and I make frequent trips to Utah in the winter. These boots are the most rugged, durable, warm, comfortable, and indestructible boots ever. Be sure to buy a size smaller than actually worn due to size and fit. ( I wear a 9 1/2 but order a 9 and they are perfect !!

I received my first pair of these only recently so I haven't much to say about how they function in wet weather. But I thought I'd chime in on issue of sizing. One size down seems to be good advice. I normally wear a size 10 shoe and therefore ordered size 9 in these gumshoes. They fit just fine, even with thicker woolen socks.

I have worn these shoes almost daily for more than thirty years. On construction site inspections, to the office, soccer games, hunting, fishing, walking my setters and yard work. They have stood by me when I could stand no more. I have worn the soles smooth. I have bought them from the web site and the 800 number before there was a web. I have worn them in pastures, creek sides, the woods and city street. My first pair cost $35 and my most recent pair almost $100. Times change but these shoes haven't. They are without a doubt the best most flexible, comfortable shoes that have ever graced a pair of jeans. Get them. Don't think about it. Get them. Just save a pair of 11Medium for me.

I am now on my second pair of gumshoes after completely wearing out my first. Comfortable, waterproof, and good-looking, they are perfect for the outdoors or when in town.
