I needed some waterproof shoes to wear when working in the garden and vineyard. Not sure why I didn't think of these before, but they have proven to be an ideal choice. They are comfortable, sturdy, well made, get good traction, and clean up easily. They are great for mornings outside when there is lots of dew on the grass, which is why I bought them, but they have also proven to be very practical for any time I'm out when it's wet. Be sure to note the information provided on the web sight regarding the sizing of these shoes in order to ensure you get the right size.

These Gumshoes are exactly what I needed. I followed the instructions for size and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable. Could be worn all day. I highly recommend these boots,

Simply the best. Period. Great for wearing with fitted pants instead of trying to stretch the cuffs around taller boots. High quality and timeless look. Order a size down as LL Bean says for a perfect fit

Any of Bean's rubber soled shoes are classics. There's an old line, "often imitated, never equaled" which seems to apply since I have tried similar looking shoes which simply didn't fit as well. Of course you have to follow the instructions on buying one size smaller than your regular shoe size -- they never explain why they con't make a shoe that's true to size -- and I hate the laces they use on these shoes, but in a time when galoshes seem to be obsolete, the low top gumshoes are the footwear of choice for days of heavy rain or light snow, or walking by a duck pond.

I wear a 9 1/2 M... after reviewing input from other reviews as well as the sizing guidelines, I followed the input and ordered a size 8 as my socks will be light to medium. Well, just tried them on and they fit perfectly with width accurate and length with my big toe 1/2 from front. Glad I followed the input and did not assume on my own (or I would have ordered a 9 that would have been too long) - Made in America - can't bet that!

I just purchased my 2nd pair after owning my 1st pair for 3 years. I ware them nearly every day while doing my insurance inspection work. I like them because I walk through a lot of wet and muddy areas. Usually about once a week, I wash them in the washing machine then line dry them. I got a size 9 when I normally get a 10 and they fit perfectly.

First - I have been a customer since the late 1970's! Customer service is outstanding. This shoe is comfy and dry. My job requires me to be on my feet rain or shine, walking, standing. Sacramento, CA airport car rental lot. Pay attention to the sizing instructions. This boot/shoe is designed with a thick sock in mind. You won't be sorry buying it. BTW, I have a wide foot with a high instep.

A couple of sizing notes (at end)... I don't know why I didn't get these sooner. I have the 6" insulated version of these which work very well for me in winter and these are great for wet and mud (and dry) for dog walking. I also like something nobody else seems to talk about - these don't track in gobs of dirt/mud like other boots! At times I like to have the option of wearing boot socks. I am a size 8.5 wide/double wide and the recommendations were to go down a size for these and up a size for the 6" insulated boots and this advice was right on the mark for me for both boots.

The shoe fits & is fit to the purpose; much to my surprise I have been complimented on the shoe's appearance.

Everything about these boots are satisfactory. Well made, fit and looks. I also liked the fact that they were made in the USA. I would highly recommend them.

I received my first pair of Gumshoes in January 1982 and they quickly became my go-to shoe, as they were very comfortable and provided the protection required when the elements were not the best. Besides providing comfort, they kept my feet dry in wet conditions, they were great in the snow and were my footwear of choice while snowshoeing. My Gumshoes looked great and held their waterproof qualities throughout the years and many wearings, but the bottoms finally became worn after much use. So it was with great reluctance I ordered a replacement pair in Fall 2018, as I was skeptical that a new Gumshoe could provide a shoe as comfortable, reliable and durable as the ones I had known and loved for 36 years. But I was wrong. Thanks, L.L. Bean, for continuing to provide a quality product and I look forward to the next 36 years with my newest footwear friend! The Gumshoes are excellent in all ways . Fit is perfect. ..followed sizing directions as written. Only suggestion is provide a bit longer shoe string so a double knot can be completed easily. Thank you for the excellent product and service. If one has a complaint...it must just be about themselves to start. It's all good. It's not the product.

Had a pair of L.L.Bean 8" boots and wasn't sure if I'd wear these much, but I wear all the time, especially in wet weather. These look good with jeans or khakis and are my go-to footwear, especially from fall-spring. They run a half size large. Never out of style and top quality. You won't regret this purchase

I purchased these boots to replace a pair I bought from you years ago and have pretty much worn out fishing and hunting in all kinds of conditions. Happy to see that they have not changed at all. A very good shoe for the woods and the lake.

Very consistent in size, quality and durability

I ordered based on LL Bean's recommendation and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable fit for all day wear. I tried the slip on version but they were too wide and it felt like I would walk out of them. Keep my feet dry. Will purchase again in the future.

I live in an area that in the winter we get a lot of rain but no snow. I'm outdoors a lot and I could never find a comfortable truly waterproof shoe or boot. Wearing rubber boots all day are tiresome. I bought the Gumshoe thinking I would give them a try and probably just wear them when I was out in the yard or field. I found them so comfortable that I wear them everywhere. I was worried that I would find them to be hot but they aren't . They are well made and are really waterproof. As it says though, order one size smaller for a true fit. I did and am completely satisfied.

I bought these through the on-line system which recommends buying one size smaller than your normal shoe size. They were absolutely correct and my size 8 is perfect when wearing heavy socks , which is what I wear in the winter time weather. I am taking a trip early next year where a lot of walking will be involved in wet weather, so I will really be able to evaluate the water proof and warm. Trust the size chart and heavy socks comment.

Wore these boots all day the 1st day. Love 'em !

Purchased this pair to replace a slip on style that did not fit well. Since I like to simply slip these on I've been able to leave the laces loose enough that I can slip them on without much problem. Important to order per size recommendations as these run big. Shoes do not leak and are comfortable.

I wear a 9 and 1/2 D shoe. The guide for this product indicated that I should size down to an 8. I was doubtful this would work, but as it turned out it was right on. So "sizing is true" if you order according to the guide and not according to your usual shoe size. Good product for rainy days or light snow when you don't want to wear a full boot.

Typical excellent Bean quality. These run large. I called first and was advised to order a full size smaller than my shoe size, which I did and they fit perfectly. I have had full sized Bean boots for years and hope these last as long.
