these shoes and boots are second to none! over the years i have worn several different ll bean products. the fit has always been exactly the same and with the help of customer service for any questions you can be sure of your decisions on ordering. these rubber shoes are definetly one size larger than the normal sizes. you should consider this when planning how you are going to use them.

I bought my Gum Shoes in 1978 and living in the Louisiana mud, wear them year-round. I love them! Very comfortable. I bought my wife a pair when we married in 1987 and she still wears hers weekly. The toes on mine started leaking from the constant wear-and-tear, so I sent them back and had them re-soled. They only lasted 35 years! I got them back yesterday and wore them in the rain. They look like new again!

These are for men who like the Bean Boots but don't want to lace up a full boot. Same comfort and durability; just easier to get on and off. I love mine!

This is my second pair of shoes. Had a pair that I wore out completely...but were a bit large. It was necessary to try on the shoes in the Fayetteville NY store before I purchased. I remembered that the size runs large. I can only assume that they are sized for very thick sox. I live in the Carolinas where heavy six aren't needed. Very satisfied with the product and the fit this time.

I bought a pair of these for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loves them. He says they are comfortable, a good width, and more importantly keep his feet dry. Living in Texas he doesn't need the insulated ones but I can imagine they would be perfect for up north weather. I watched the video on how these are made, really interesting and definitely sealed the deal being MADE IN AMERICA!!

Needed a size down, for the unlined version. Wish Gumshoes came in different colors or just one solid color.

I needed new water proof shoes to wear at the our farmers market in order to keep my feet warm and dry. Well the first day I wore my new gumshoes, they proved to fit the bill. The shoes were comfortable right out of the box. I used LL Bean's thick hiking socks with the gumshoes and these products really preformed nicely.

I have always wanted a pair of Gumshoes and finally bit the bullet and went for it. The quality of this shoe is just awesome. They obviously have a very good system and take pride in doing it right. I wear a 10 in my everyday tennis/running type shoe, so I ordered a 9 medium width. I wear prescription orthotics in my shoes and usually have to take out any pad so that the orthotics will fit. These gumshoes come with a great feeling pad inside, and I hated to remove it. To my surprise and good luck I can wear these shoes with the provided pad AND my orthotics. It winds up a snug but comfortable fit that is easily accommodated because it is a lace up shoe.
I bought the uninsulated shoe because I live in south Texas and we don't have cold weather very often, and I would do the same again. Having said that we have recently had some pretty cold weather, and you will feel it in these shoes even as they keep your feet wonderfully dry and protected. If I lived much farther north I would probably spring for the insulated shoe.
In summary this is a great shoe to have in your shoe arsenal.

I'm very happy with the quality of my first pair of LL Bean shoes. My shoes came with a personally signed note from the craftsperson who made my shoes. Nice touch!
I'm also glad to pay a little more knowing that my choice helps to provide jobs for my fellow Americans. I wish more companies would follow LL Bean's lead and make Made In America their business goal.
Excellent value!

I bought these for working out in the yard. They are more comfortable and useful than I thought they would be from just looking at them. As stated in the description, you do need to order one whole size lower than your normal shoe size.

The gumshoe low top is a perfect shoe for keeping your feet dry on those rainy days when a normal shoe won't do. I use them for watching youth football games, cutting wood, and hiking on wet days. The sole is made for traction. I have used the "economical" store brands and found them to be lacking in what is needed most...dryness. The gumshoes are well made and a big plus for me is American made. I recommend them for anyone who is considering a shoe with a water duty need.

Wow are these comfortable!
Normally buying any shoe, I try to wear them for awhile to begin the break-in process. These Bean Boots were so comfortable, I was still wearing them 4 hours after the package arrived. I'd forgotten that I still had them on.
Great product!

These boots are waterproof, and very comfortable. The tread has good traction, and is of a design that doesn't collect debris. The fit is sfficiently generous to allow a thick pair of warm socks.

These are good, although I recommend getting 1 size smaller than your shoe size. They make a good boot/shoe for inclement weather as long as you don't need to hike through standing water or significant snow. With the laces tied, they stay on your feet.

These ran pretty true to size. This is his second pair. My husband left these at our summer place so he could order more for our Florida home. They wear like iron! He wears them in the yard all the time. Thank you LLBean.

I use the boots to walk my dog each morning on wet grass, and they keep my feet dry, which was the point in buying them. I live in Northern CA and will need to wear heavy socks in the winter for warmth. I didn't buy the insulated version because they would be too hot for three quarters of the year.
Great boot, very satisfied.

Recently received my 3rd pair of these shoes. I wore out the first 2, with each pair lasting approx. 10 yrs. Best utlilty type shoes I've ever owned. Used from sloppy wet snow to summer varmint hunting to rainy football games to light trail hiking to mowing the lawn. They've done it all. They do run large in size. I wear a 10.5 to 11 shoe size, depending on style/brand. My Bean shoes are a 10 D and I usually wear a heavier sock with them. They are not a "breathable" shoe so your feet may get warm. Also, not a great cold weather shoe if the temp is near freezing and you're not moving around-though they do make an insulated version. I refer to these as my "slop" shoes, because that's generally what they're in, and they do a great job. If you can wear a shoe like this comfortably, you'll get many years of service from them.

I have used the GumShoe or a Bean Boot for 25 + Years. I shall continue. I would like a deeper tread By 1/2.

Just bought my second pair last month. First pair lasted about 12 years of frequent, hard use. I'm not throwing the old pair away since these old friends can be used for messier, muddier use. Without question the best all around shoe I have owned. Durable(!!!), comfortable, and suitable for nearly everything. Good gripping soles, absolutely waterproof , and comfy. The classic "Beaner" look is part of the reason I love the shoe ,and very pleased this winner is still around. Worn with my Original field coat, in saddle color of course, I'm a happy camper.

I have found these shoes to be comfortable and functional. They keep my feet dry without heating them up to much, I live in Florida.
I would recommend them to anyone who wants to keep their feet dry but not go out into heavy brush or deep water.

The shoes are well made. Unfortunately for me the D width was too narrow and the EE was too wide. Not a fault of the shoe.
