I own the last 2 versions of this sneaker for running and I purchased the same size and it feels slightly shorter in length. I am usually a size 10 in these sneakers and 10.5 in most other running shoes. I will exchange for a half size larger and review again. I agree it does feel more firm than previous versions and they continue to run on the narrow side. Still one of my favorites so hopefully they're better with the larger size.

This is my 5th pair of Clifton shoes. This updated model seem to be more narrow compared to the Clifton 8. Also this is NOT a plush shoe as advertised, especially compared to the 8's and all previous models I've owned. Thankfully, Hoka still has the Clifton 8 available in my size because I will be returning the Clifton 9. Such a disappointment!

This shoe was painful to wear. The heel/back of the shoe is rock hard, no give. So uncomfortable, I can tell where it would rub already. I wore it for a couple minutes and now my foot is aching.

I love Hokas, I wear this model (Clifton) but will not buy the Clifton 9 again!

I bought the color eggnog in a size 5. My feet are petite and they fit very well not sure how some people are finding them uncomfortable they feel very nice to me and I already did some running in them. They also look cute. The color is beautiful as well as the pink but I couldn't keep both so I had to return one. I think you should give them a try you have nothing to loose the return is easy. This is my third pair of Hokas and I will definitely keep buying, I run trails and road, marathon distances and I haven't had any issues with this shoes.

I was very excited to try the new Clifton 9's since I have thoroughly enjoyed my Clifton 8's. I am overall disappointed in them. They run much bigger, and the toe space doesn't hug your foot well. The sole is much chunkier, which is normally not a big deal, but a smaller sole is what I appreciated in the Clifton's. I don't like the material used as it doesn't hug the foot as well. I was really looking forward to them but I'm disappointed.

I was excited to try the Clifton 9's after I have worn through 2 pairs of Clifton 8's. The sizing is different, they run larger, and they toe area doesn't fit as snugly as the 8's. They are also much chunkier than I expected. Which I have always liked the Clifton's because of their smaller sole. I have been the biggest HOKA fan but I'm kinda sad these didn't work out.

Really cute shoe but it was very narrow in the heal and arch. I could feel the edges of the of the sole with every step. Will be returning and going back to Brooks.

This was my second pair of Hokas. The first pair was the most comfortable shoe I have ever bought. This shoe looked good and mostly felt good except for the front of my ankles. I felt pressure there. I tried loosening the laces but it didn't see to help. So I am sadly returning them.

This show is too MUSHY! No support - wish I had read the reviews before ordering as this is a common complaint on various websites including the Hoka site. I will be returning them. Too expensive to settle for less than perfect.

I have tried every brand of gym shoes and these are the only ones that my feet never hurt in . From working in a school (walking on hard flooring non stop all day) to doing my workouts these are just the best ! Totally worth the money !

Very similar to the last model in my opinion. The white color is super cute. Runs a little bigger than the clifton 8's so I'd suggest sizing 1/2 size down.

This shoe is so lightweight I didn't think anything was in the box when I got it off the porch! Very comfortable and looks good too.

I love my Hokas so this review is very painful for me to write. I just got my Clifton 9's today and I will be sending them right back, they just aren't comfortable on my feet. I have wide feet, and have at least one pair of every shoe offered by Hoka in a wide, so I ordered my usual 8.5 wide. I had on my Hoka socks that I wear with all my shoes no problem, and the shoes felt painfully tight even with the laces loosened. I switched to thinner socks and they were still tight in the toe box where Hokas normally aren't. The bottom of my feet started to hurt, and my right heel began to hurt where they had not been hurting previously; my feet were screaming at me. I could immediately tell pain and suffering were in my future if I kept these shoes. I absolutely love my Clifton 8's, comfy right out of the box with no issues, and had even just had them on right before trying these on and can tell a huge difference. These just aren't for me, sadly, and for being labeled as "plush" I am scratching my head because Bondi it is not.

Wear an 8 and the 8 was perfect, comfortable from the moment you put on, excellent support and cushioning! Color was true to image as well.

At first I thought that the shoes were too soft and bouncy. I felt that I might tip over. I got used to them after maybe two days. I now think that they are awesome and the pink color is gorgeous! The shoes are very lightweight. I highly recommend.

I walk concrete floors all day at work and have been struggling for a while trying to find a shoe that my feet aren't killing me in by the end of the day . I have tried SO MANY shoes, Brooks , New Balance , Asics , Skechers etc . The Brooks Glycerin was a go to for a while but my feet were still sore by the end of the day . I had a pair of the HOKA Bondi 7 that were ok but they just felt too big so I decided after reading many reviews to try the Clifton and am very impressed . My feet feel so much better. Super cushioned , they don't feel too big , it's like walking on pillows . I normally take an 8 in Brooks but ordered a 7.5 in the Clifton, perfect fit . Worth the $ imo to not have aching feet .

This is my first pair of Hokas, I finally made the switch. True to size, so much cushion and really comfortable for long walks on a treadmill or through the neighborhood.

These run big for me…big as is long, not wide. I normally wear an 8 in all Hokas, preferably a wide since my foot is wide (only at the toes/forefoot). I had to exchange the 8 wide for a 7.5 wide. Sizing aside, this shoe is almost perfect. It’s nice and cushy, yet supportive. My one complaint is the heel counter/collar…it’s a bit too high, molded, and rigid. It’s what I’d describe as overdone. If you run or walk long distances, it can cause some hot spots. My guess is that it will break in over time. Otherwise, I love it!

I am so bummed! I really wanted to love these but I am having to return due to them not being comfortable. They are not as plush and bouncy as my Mach 5s or Clifton 7s. I wore them this morning to workout and my feet were hurting the whole time. They are true to size but these feel more narrow in the front. My other Hokas fit perfect all around. I absolutely love the Egg Nog and the Pink ones but unfortunately am going to have to return them both. I will stay with my Mach 5s for sure.

Was looking forward to these Clifton 9s, but disappointed:
- tongue pushes against the front part (by talus?) of my foot, gets uncomfortable
- shoe is stiffer overall. didn't have to break my 8s in but these are rougher
- seems to run larger, which you could size down for if not for the discomfort in other areas
- subjective: mesh pattern, thinner sole, all around look on the 8s much better
Wish the previous model was available in my size and color. Please bring those Clifton 8s back!!

These are a great update to the Clifton 8. They are lighter but have a more cushioned, softer feel. I feel like they are a bit wider in the forefoot but not much. The sole itself is wider providing a more stable base. Love it overall! The pink is gorg!!

Had to see what all the hype is about! And gotta say they live up to it. So I've worn Brooks adrenalines for years but I feel
Like lately I'm not enjoying the stiffness and how you can really feel the road with each stride. Now they are a "stability" shoe and now I'm trying a "neutral" shoe, which might not be the best idea. But the Clifton's are just so plush and cushiony and actually make me look forward to my runs! Will see how they do in the long run but so far so good! Oh and size down a half size!
