I love my HOKA Clifton 9. Yes, it looks like I have large lavender and azure marshmallows on my feet. But really, who cares. They are so supportive and comfy and I can walk without ant knee pain. WHOOP wHOOP1

Not sure why Hoka is calling this a Clifton. It's a hair longer than the 8 and definitely wider. More room in the toe box sounds great until you realize that the base of the laces start higher on the 9, so you can't really secure the forefoot properly. The tongue is longer and the upper is higher, strangling the ankle. This is like a completely different shoe, and stores update to the new version, so you have limited options. Not happy. Be careful before purchasing.

They seem to fit perfectly. I'm still testing them, but this week wore them to work where I stand on cement for 4 straight hours. I have severe arthritis on the top of both feet and usually I'm in a great deal of pain after that shift - but not this time. Will see if they are as good next week as I expect they will be. Originally recommended by my orthopedic surgeon-and she was right. Love the color-bellwether blue/ceramic, the cushioning and the light weight.

I have the Clifton 8's and 9's and I think they are both fantastic. I love the extra cushioning in the 9. For me, they fit very similarly to the 8. I loved the 9's so much that I bought them in several colors.

I tried out the Clifton 9s which the Hoka team and my orthopedist recommended after I tried the Bondi 8 redesign which absolutely didn't work for me due to a narrower mid and forefoot. These are better than the Bondi 8s, but they still run narrower at the mid foot and are less cushioned than I prefer. I am also not a fan of how high the shoe comes up my ankle in the back. I ordered two colors in the same size but the all black pair was shorter and narrower than the pale mauve, so I returned the black ones. I'm hanging on to the mauve pair while I try out other brands to see if I can find something I love as much as the Bondi 7s. At the recommendation of my orthopedist, I also tried a couple other Hokas - as compared to the Clifton 9s, the Arahis were even more narrow/firm and the Gaviotas were far too firm though the width was perfect. Please bring back the Bondi 7s, those were the best sneakers that I've ever worn.

Bought the Clifton 9 a couple of weeks ago. Very comfortable and fit true to size, so last week I bought a second pair. I really didn't like the Clifton 8. It was never as comfortable as my Clifton 7s. Seems the odd years work best for me. Clifton 6 was terrible, but the 5s were great.

I sprained my ankle several years ago and at the end of the day it would hurt. Ever since I have started wearing Clifton 8's (3 pairs) and now Clifton 9's, my ankle no longer hurts at the end of a long day of standing/walking.
No complaints other than make more shoes without white on them!! All color options have white except 1 or 2 pairs and they go quick. So if you don't buy a pair as soon as they come out they're gone.

Fast shipping and great customer service. If you are looking for a B7 replacement, this isn't it. I have tried the B8 and did not like them. I have a plate and 8 screws in ankle from motorcycle accident from 1998 and the B7 was like walking on clouds. The Clifton 9 is wearable and more comfortable than B8. Bring back the BONDI 7 PLEASE!!!

I'm impressed. I heard they were super comfy. I need a lot of support for a foot that was surgically fused in 3 places with a piece of my hip bone and a large pin through chronic fractures in two bones. These feel as though they will do a good job for me.

The colors are awful and the same colors should be available in wide. I would love to purchase them but will not be doing so until you make a color I would even consider wearing. Not all women like pink!

Great shoe, fun color, great support and cushion. I love the Hoka Brands. However they are too big - trying to fit a swollen post surgical foot and it worked well for width, just too long. I will return but would purchase again after healing is over.

Years ago bought my first pair, the Clifton 6. Loved them and finally found the perfect shoe for me. Bought a new pair or 2 each year ever since and fit has always been just right. I immediately noticed this years fit is a little different, not as plush in the sole, and just a tighter around the top and sides. I compared it to my extra brand new pair of Clifton 8s that I still haven't worn yet (they are still in their box in my closet as a backup pair that I'm not as crazy about the color). Sure enough, the 9 fit is different and not as comfortable. I will still keep the 9s because I like the blue and purple and it's just a slight difference but I will be switching and using the 8s instead and using the 9s as my backup. Most people will still like the shoe (it's still a great shoe) but if you have been wearing them for years you will notice the difference. Best to try on rather than just order another pair this year.

I am SO SAD. I LOVE Hokas and have been wearing the Cliftons for years. Ordered a pair of Clifton 9s for an upcoming trip and couldn't wait for them to arrive. Wow was I disappointed! They look great, but the fit is definitely not great. I could feel my toes hitting on the end, despite ordering the same size as what I'm currently wearing in my Clifton 8s. Not sure what or why Hoka did to an otherwise perfect shoe but please hit undo and go back to the far superior Clifton 8 model. These are headed back to Hoka tomorrow.

This style runs big! At least 1/2 to 3/4 size to big. It also hurt the inner sides of my feet probably because they fit differently than a real 8.5 D.
I returned after 2 runs & actually fell on my first run probably because of how they ran bigger & didn't fit right. I hurt my kneecap bad & out of exercise & running for at least 2-3 weeks.
I love Hoka & worn over 15 years but now I'm stuck because my size is out where I buy my shoes & I need the D width.
I would recommend Hoka but just not the NEW Clifton 9.
I've loved all my others & especially the 8.
TRY ON FIRST! Maybe a 1/2 size smaller than usual. I haven't tried that yet because of my fall & I can run right now.

I am hooked on Bondi 8. I thought I would try the Clifton 9, but I miss the extra cushioning.
If you don't need the extra padding (like I do), I would recommend Clifton 9 to a friend.

I am baffled as to why Hoka would change the fundamental profile of the Clifton. I have been wearing Cliftons exclusivelyfor years, becausethe combo of "Neutral" and "Balanced" works perfectly for me (and probably many of its fans). Now, the cushioning is "Plush". If I wanted a plush shoe, I would buy the Bondi. In fact, the Clifton 9 feels more like the Bondi in otherways. It is generallychunkier in appearance. In addition, the sole feels more rigid; while the 8 has more give and allows a more natural foot motion through each step, the 9 has a stiffer rocker. Hoka, Clifton devotees love the Clifton for the features that make it differentfrom the Bondi. A couple of general comments:while my pinkie toes will gladly take all the room that they can get, the extra volume in the toe box of the 9 does not translate to more room for my pinkies. The extra room is vertical, so there is a pointless andungainly pocket of air above my toes and forefoot. On the plus side: the stiff and aggravating band in the heel counter of the 8 is not in the 9 (phew!).

I have worn the Clifton 7 and the Mach 5 for the last year -- both were supremely comfortable. The Clifton 9 is a different bird. Not nearly as smooshy as the 7, and it feels more structured (not in a good way), somewhat elevated and more like walking on a brick than a cloud. Also doesn't compare to the Mach 5, which isn't as could-like, but still supremely comfortable as a walking and workout shoe. I use them mainly for power walking on the treadmill and walking around the neighborhood -- a total of about 3.5 miles per day. I am returning my Clifton 9s --I tried to break them in by wearing for 2 days, but it just didn't work.

This is a great shoe. Extremely comfortable. Love the look. I wore Brooks for years and their most recent changes are definitely not helpful.

Got these from a local store and I'm not impressed. They come up higher in the back and they are higher on the side around my ankle. My Clifton 8' were the bomb- no sure why they changed the design. Would have love more fun colors and kept the same design. I did go with a different Hooka that was higher priced- but I already miss my 9.5 wides!
