Seems like a well made shoe, but bought a 1/2 size up as recommended and still felt both length and width rubbing - making them uncomfortable for me. Had to return them.

What happened to the toe room Hoka's used to have? The 8's were like buying a narrow shoe (pinched my width) and now the 9's seem tight as well. Please, please, please go back to the 5 and earlier. They were great comfy shoes.

Felt like boat with thin sole. I haven't had a comfortable pair of shoes for years.

Good lord this king sneaker but quite narrow in forefoot. Buying on line is difficult as each model fits differently. Having to pay shipping when the shoe was purchased at a HOHAS Store doesn't seem right.JMO.

I bought 2 pairs, the black ones worn out too quick, less than a month, nothing compared to my Jordan which last for months and years. Not that much beneficial for my heel either . Plus their size is a little big

Uncomfortable. Tight in front, loose in back. If I ordered wider width for front, back wouldve been worse.

I have been loyal to HOKA shoe for my last three purchases of walking shoe. I have been very pleased with my purchase until this Clifton 9. This is the first pair I ordered online all other purchases were in person. From the first day I wore them the left shoe was uncomfortable. It seems to lean in and after walking any distance my arch begins to ache. I thought it might be my gate or issue with my foot , however I put on my old HOKA shoes and do not have the problem. Because I ordered online I do not know how to have a new pair replace these. Please contact me on how I can have this unfortunate issue corrected so I can get back on the HOKA train.

All-around good shoe, but not for the reason I purchased it. I suffer from flat severely overpronated feet. This shoe was sold to me as excellent for my conditions. Unfortunately, after just a couple of weeks I noticed there was little support for my inner foot so my overpronation was not improved - at all. During the walks I took, I quickly regretted wearing them, as walking with your foot angled in (leaning inward) gets really uncomfortable after just a few miles. The only reason I didn’t return them was because my brother, who has “normal” feet, liked them and bought them from me. If you have severely overpronation and/or coupled with flat feet, I suggest you search elsewhere.

Cushioning was great. Way, way too narrow. I bought the double EE and it was still too narrow. I normally wear a D width but ordered the extra wide need on reviews and it was still too narrow!! (This was also mentioned in reviews.

Quite disappointed with the sneakers. Not very comfortable or supportive. Definitely not worth the price paid. Was hoping for more comfort while walking.

I normally wear a regular width (Nike), but the Hoka Clifton 9 is far too narrow in the forefoot area. As a result, the bone just behind my little toe feels constantly squeezed. I returned this item, and bought a Bondi 8 WIDE, which fits much better.

I love Hoka's but the Clifton 9 fell short for me. Going back to my Bondi 9's.

Previous Hokas were like pillows, but these 9's- I have sores on toes that never had sores before! And the mid section of the shoe- sooo stiff- the whole shoe is stiff. I do NOT like them! And I don't have the money to just go out and buy another pair. The toes are cramped together, which never was the case before either. The only thing I like is the white with the blue contrasting trim.
So VERY disappointing, and I have sent so many friends to you- now I don't know WHAT model I need to go with. Clifton 8's were my baby, but now 9's are a huge disappoint. And I'm a classic girl so I'm not fond of all the weird new color combos. Do I move on to another brand??? Oh no......

I love these shoes. However, if you look on the bottoms of all the Clifton nine's you will see 3 triangles/rectangles that do NOT have rubber treading! It's like they made this way...so they only last three months--and then you have to spend out $$$ and buy another pair. Either INTENTIONAL to line their pockets with more money on people who don't pay attention--or a huge ERROR that makes the tread far inferior to other shoes. Look at the bottoms! All they would have had to do is use the same rubber treading on the 3 blank spots on each shoe like the rest of the shoe. And if you are in the store, press on it -it's almost as soft as a marshmallow and any terrain shreds them down extremely fast, especially gravel!! SAD. You can't help but think that something so obvious and that wears down so quickly, was not intentional. Because of this big flaw...Do not recommend.

The first thing I noticed when I took these out of the box was how light they are. I don't know if this was intended or if Hoka cut some corners. I tried them out anyway and it was probably some of the worst foot pain I had running in a long time, even taking the break in into account. It felt like the shoe was forcing my foot to pronate and the sides were digging hard into my feet. I had enough faith in Hoka that I got rid of my old pair already, so this is real disappointing. The only upside is that the new colors look great, but I never bought these for looks in the first place. Will be sending back.

I logged 1+million steps last year. I need Plush to do so. Hoka plush models used to last over 3.months before needing replacement. The current Clifton 9 i have might make a month and a half. Does Hoka have any plush that can meet my needs?

There is a defect in the arch of one shoe. You can feel something poking into your foot. Will only purchase in stores from now on so i can try it before purchasing.

The plush foam is great but by design it comes up to "support" arch yet all this does is push into the side of the foot. It isn't aligned properly and causes severe pain after a run. Very disappointing.

Out of the box they felt great. Very comfortable.
After breaking them in I gave them my first walk/run, something didn’t feel right in one of the soles in 1 shoe. Thought maybe was just me getting used to them, but it’s only gotten worse. 1 shoe is great the other is defective. Expected more for this price.

Love the Clifton's but the whole middle section of the shoe seems to have been narrowed a lot. I got rubbing on outside of my foot for the first time wearing these. I have gotten Cliftons for years...too bad. Need to look for an alternative.

I really like the way these feel on my foot. I have a narrow foot, and this shoe feels good and isn't too loose. The only problem is when I walk on the treadmill, my calves begin to burn and then hurt after a few minutes.
