Like the feel of the show but narrow enough that toes felt squished. Normally wear a 10 Hoka but she didn't cut it.

Have run in the Clifton models for years, loved the Clifton 8's. However the Clifton 9 is a definite downgrade, very disappointing. They eliminated the soft edge under the outer ankle bone, now feels like it cuts into you. Worse is the change in outer sole material. They have made it a much harder rubber, and my feet now make an annoying slapping sound at every foot strike, even in hard pack dirt. Get rid of this dog and remodel back to the Clifton 8 please.

I love the color on these but they are way less springy and supportive than other Hokas I have had like the Stinsons ATR 6. They seem like regular sneakers comparable to Brooks. I am sending them back and waiting for Hoka Bondi 9. I really wish these would work!

I'm pretty disappointed in these shoes. They feel much more narrow than other Hokas I've purchased. I'm considering trying them with thinner socks. On the plus side, great color and styling.

I exercise walk every day for approximately 5 Miles. I also sometimes walk trails as Part of my Heart healthy exercise regimen. Hoka's are light and comfortable but very stable as well

Fit and size were true, but VERY uncomfortable. These new Clifton 9's are so much more stiff than the Clifton 8's (out of the box and two weeks later after wearing them everyday. I don't know why they changed so them so much from the 8's. Highly disappointed.

With the change from the prior style this one is much more narrow at the forefoot. It looks great but the change in the forefoot it is enough to make this shoe useless for long runs for me.

Chat is an endless loop of confirming your info. Was on for 30 minutes before the "human" did anything about the issue. Will not be going Hoka anymore, great shoe but too much to deal with.

Bought a pair of Clifton 9s 3 weeks ago and wore them about five or six times. I thought the shoe was very comfortable. Probably one of the most comfortable shoes that I've ever worn. But unfortunately, the bottom of the soul started to fall apart after wearing them just a few times. Not a huge deal, I understand there are defects sometimes. My problem was is that Hoka wanted me to send the shoes back to them so that they could review the defect on it and then send me a new pair. I feel like the I shouldn't have to waste my time of sending them back to Hoka. I personally feel they could see the picture I emailed them and send me a new pair without me going through the hassle of sending the shoes back. There just going to throw them away anyways.

I dont know what to make of the Clifton 9. I was very much looking forward to this shoe as a replacement for my Clifton 8. I also have the Mach 5 for faster runs. With the added stack height, I was hoping for a bit more cushion, or spring, or a little bit of both. Instead, to me the Clifton 9 feels very firm under foot. It gave very little feedback and felt like I was running on 2 planks of wood. My 500+ mile Clifton 8 still feels softer than the Clifton 9. I will be returning these and looking for some Clifton 8 on sale.

Toe Box on the Hoka 9 allows for a lot of movement and wiggle room. After 10 years straight of Brooks Running shoes I moved to the Hoka 8 in size 13 and immediately fell in love. Put 11 months and right at 1,000mi on them. Then, I got a pair of Hoka 9 in size 13 back in July 2023. So many blisters around my toes and ball of my foot. My legs get exhausted easier too.

I have put 400 miles on a pair and they just did not support my arches enough as past Cliftons. other than that they felt good. Give them a try if you do not have high arches.

I bought the shoes seeing I stand for most of the day. They felt good at the start but after a week they aren't comfortable. I went back to the asic gels. For the price I would never buy again. Maybe they were defective IDK. I also after a couple of days heard a clicking sound when I walked.

The shoe is definitely supportive but around your foot it wraps around way too tight. I even got the wide version. It's so tight around my feet that it's blocking circulation and causing my feet to burn really bad when stationary or just sitting down causally. I'm going to t try to figure out how to return these.

While they are aimed for comfort I don't see how these shoes are extremely painful

I bought the new Hoka 9's as the 8 wasnt available. Used the wide version as before and I'm starting to get some plantar fascia discomfort due to lack of support. I just started to use my old Hoka clifton 8's and placed my 9's on the shelf. I'm not sure if I can return the 9's and see if the regular instead of wide support my arch better, but definitely not happy with them. Let me know if others have had similar experience or what I can do. Training for the Ironman 70.3 races and was happy with the 8.

This is the second pair of Clifton 9s I have purchased. While it is definitely a upgrade from the Clifton 8, both pairs I have tried felt like the arch support was too far back towards the heel, which caused a lot of discomfort and was unfortunately a deal breaker. I purchased a second pair because I thought that maybe the first issue was a fluke, but sadly it was not. Went to a store to try on a half size larger to see if that would correct the problem but going a half size larger felt too roomy and my foot was sliding around in the shoe. With the exception of this heel situation, it's a great shoe. Hopefully it is something that Hoka will correct in future iterations. If they do, I'll definitely try it again.

I’m unfortunately not on the Hoka train. These are heavy and bulky. Felt sturdy, but like a brick.

I've worn Clifton 8s for over a year and love them. They fit and feel great, and so I ordered a pair of Clifton 9s thinking they'd be as good. They aren't. The 9s feel big and sloppy in comparison and even the styling is worse. In this case, new is not necessarily improved. Stick with the 8s.

I'm not enjoying these shoes at all! I've worn these shoes all of 5 days after receiving it last week! I'm a 58 year old woman, and usually wear a Women's size 11. However the my last HOKA order of size 11 Mafate Speed 4 ended up being surprisingly narrow & gave me painful blisters on both big toes no end! I thought I learned my lesson and this time with Clifton 9, I ordered Wide in Men's size 11. I was very happy when it came in cos it was wide enough and perfect size without being loose. I was happy to resume my early morning walks with my new supposedly better fitting shoes! The first day with these shoes, my walk was difficult & painful! I thought maybe it needed a break in period and would get better. Now five days later, I have very painful blisters under my toes- and this shoes are not even tight!! Why is this happening? I don't want to continue enduring this pain and thinking of returning. I need advice on what shoe type will spare me these horrible painful blisters!

This is my sixth or seventh pair of Hokas. I’ve been very pleased with all the previous ones, but this pair seems too tight, particularly on the right foot. The price was also higher by 20 percent or so. I’ve been wearing them for a week or so but they haven’t improved.
I'd also recommend:
I’ve been wearing Hokas for 5 or 6 years, but now I’m looking for an alternative.
