Previous Hokas were like pillows, but these 9's- I have sores on toes that never had sores before! And the mid section of the shoe- sooo stiff- the whole shoe is stiff. I do NOT like them! And I don't have the money to just go out and buy another pair. The toes are cramped together, which never was the case before either. The only thing I like is the white with the blue contrasting trim. So VERY disappointing, and I have sent so many friends to you- now I don't know WHAT model I need to go with. Clifton 8's were my baby, but now 9's are a huge disappoint. And I'm a classic girl so I'm not fond of all the weird new color combos. Do I move on to another brand??? Oh no......

I love these shoes. However, if you look on the bottoms of all the Clifton nine's you will see 3 triangles/rectangles that do NOT have rubber treading! It's like they made this way...so they only last three months--and then you have to spend out $$$ and buy another pair. Either INTENTIONAL to line their pockets with more money on people who don't pay attention--or a huge ERROR that makes the tread far inferior to other shoes. Look at the bottoms! All they would have had to do is use the same rubber treading on the 3 blank spots on each shoe like the rest of the shoe. And if you are in the store, press on it -it's almost as soft as a marshmallow and any terrain shreds them down extremely fast, especially gravel!! SAD. You can't help but think that something so obvious and that wears down so quickly, was not intentional. Because of this big flaw...Do not recommend.

The first thing I noticed when I took these out of the box was how light they are. I don't know if this was intended or if Hoka cut some corners. I tried them out anyway and it was probably some of the worst foot pain I had running in a long time, even taking the break in into account. It felt like the shoe was forcing my foot to pronate and the sides were digging hard into my feet. I had enough faith in Hoka that I got rid of my old pair already, so this is real disappointing. The only upside is that the new colors look great, but I never bought these for looks in the first place. Will be sending back.

I logged 1+million steps last year. I need Plush to do so. Hoka plush models used to last over 3.months before needing replacement. The current Clifton 9 i have might make a month and a half. Does Hoka have any plush that can meet my needs?

There is a defect in the arch of one shoe. You can feel something poking into your foot. Will only purchase in stores from now on so i can try it before purchasing.

The plush foam is great but by design it comes up to "support" arch yet all this does is push into the side of the foot. It isn't aligned properly and causes severe pain after a run. Very disappointing.

Out of the box they felt great. Very comfortable. After breaking them in I gave them my first walk/run, something didn’t feel right in one of the soles in 1 shoe. Thought maybe was just me getting used to them, but it’s only gotten worse. 1 shoe is great the other is defective. Expected more for this price.

Love the Clifton's but the whole middle section of the shoe seems to have been narrowed a lot. I got rubbing on outside of my foot for the first time wearing these. I have gotten Cliftons for years...too bad. Need to look for an alternative.

I really like the way these feel on my foot. I have a narrow foot, and this shoe feels good and isn't too loose. The only problem is when I walk on the treadmill, my calves begin to burn and then hurt after a few minutes.

Like the feel of the show but narrow enough that toes felt squished. Normally wear a 10 Hoka but she didn't cut it.

Have run in the Clifton models for years, loved the Clifton 8's. However the Clifton 9 is a definite downgrade, very disappointing. They eliminated the soft edge under the outer ankle bone, now feels like it cuts into you. Worse is the change in outer sole material. They have made it a much harder rubber, and my feet now make an annoying slapping sound at every foot strike, even in hard pack dirt. Get rid of this dog and remodel back to the Clifton 8 please.

I love the color on these but they are way less springy and supportive than other Hokas I have had like the Stinsons ATR 6. They seem like regular sneakers comparable to Brooks. I am sending them back and waiting for Hoka Bondi 9. I really wish these would work!

I'm pretty disappointed in these shoes. They feel much more narrow than other Hokas I've purchased. I'm considering trying them with thinner socks. On the plus side, great color and styling.

I exercise walk every day for approximately 5 Miles. I also sometimes walk trails as Part of my Heart healthy exercise regimen. Hoka's are light and comfortable but very stable as well

Fit and size were true, but VERY uncomfortable. These new Clifton 9's are so much more stiff than the Clifton 8's (out of the box and two weeks later after wearing them everyday. I don't know why they changed so them so much from the 8's. Highly disappointed.

With the change from the prior style this one is much more narrow at the forefoot. It looks great but the change in the forefoot it is enough to make this shoe useless for long runs for me.

Chat is an endless loop of confirming your info. Was on for 30 minutes before the "human" did anything about the issue. Will not be going Hoka anymore, great shoe but too much to deal with.

Bought a pair of Clifton 9s 3 weeks ago and wore them about five or six times. I thought the shoe was very comfortable. Probably one of the most comfortable shoes that I've ever worn. But unfortunately, the bottom of the soul started to fall apart after wearing them just a few times. Not a huge deal, I understand there are defects sometimes. My problem was is that Hoka wanted me to send the shoes back to them so that they could review the defect on it and then send me a new pair. I feel like the I shouldn't have to waste my time of sending them back to Hoka. I personally feel they could see the picture I emailed them and send me a new pair without me going through the hassle of sending the shoes back. There just going to throw them away anyways.

I dont know what to make of the Clifton 9. I was very much looking forward to this shoe as a replacement for my Clifton 8. I also have the Mach 5 for faster runs. With the added stack height, I was hoping for a bit more cushion, or spring, or a little bit of both. Instead, to me the Clifton 9 feels very firm under foot. It gave very little feedback and felt like I was running on 2 planks of wood. My 500+ mile Clifton 8 still feels softer than the Clifton 9. I will be returning these and looking for some Clifton 8 on sale.

Toe Box on the Hoka 9 allows for a lot of movement and wiggle room. After 10 years straight of Brooks Running shoes I moved to the Hoka 8 in size 13 and immediately fell in love. Put 11 months and right at 1,000mi on them. Then, I got a pair of Hoka 9 in size 13 back in July 2023. So many blisters around my toes and ball of my foot. My legs get exhausted easier too.

I have put 400 miles on a pair and they just did not support my arches enough as past Cliftons. other than that they felt good. Give them a try if you do not have high arches.

I bought the shoes seeing I stand for most of the day. They felt good at the start but after a week they aren't comfortable. I went back to the asic gels. For the price I would never buy again. Maybe they were defective IDK. I also after a couple of days heard a clicking sound when I walked.
