My husband bought these boots for me to use in the winter while working on the goat farm. (I am normally in DryShod mud boots) After wearing them for a few days, below are my opinions:
Pros: lighter weight than mud boots, comfortable to walk in,
Cons: The shoe laces are too short (I cannot lace them up the entire way, I have muscular calfs at 4'11" 120lbs.) I cannot get the laces up past the second to top eyelet and that is still very little lace left to tie. I still need to buy new laces, for the price the laces should go all the way up.
Comments: As long as I am moving the boots keep my feet warm in 5deg F weather, if I am sitting my feet get cold.

I have wide feet, and these were narrow, even with thin socks.
In order to have the sides of the boots overlap the tongue, I had to lace so tightly my feet started tingling.
They are incredibly well made and very cute and I hated to return them..

Read reviews recommending the boots ran large in size and to order a size down. I did and too small. Having to return for a 7.

I love these boots and was very happy until they got a bit wet on the inside from wet snow. Turns out the the LL bean insert prevented them from drying on the bottom because it is made of a non-porous material..a few days later the boots were VERY stinky and I mean very! I have now taken the insert out, put baking soda in and vacuumed it out....and the stink is much less but not gone. Also needed to wash the bottom of the insert. If LL Beane wants to use a non-porous insert they should instruct buyers to always remove the insert when not wearing the boots. Or even better, find a porous substitute. For the cost these boots shouldn't have this problem.

These boots are made great but they do not keep my feet that warm the shearling is not in the bottom part where the rubber is and therefore my feet get cold.

This boot is really made well (five stars on quality), but the sizing was difficult for me personally. Thinking that a shorter boot may fit my foot better.
I usually wear an 8.5 and purchased an 8. Initially, they felt fine. However, once they really got broken in, there was too much room in the heel. The heels also got extremely low overtime and uneven. I recently exchanged for a 7, however those prove to be too small as I got blisters.
I'm thinking it's the higher height and possibly the fur that affected the fit on me. Every foot is different so definitely try on and wear around the house first to see. I also think that for all the fur that's in them, they are not that warm.

loved these boots when I first bought them about 3 months ago. They kept my feet warm while walking in and out of stores and shorter times outside in the slush rain and snow. HOWEVER, spending a little more than an hour outside in 10 f with these boots today with 2 pairs of socks(wool and smart wool) I could not have been colder. I originally bought these for shoveling and being outside but unfortunatly they did not work quite as expected. That being said, buy them if your looking for boots for early to mid winter in the city, but not for spending long periods outside.

The boot was about 1/2 size too big. The ankle area was very bulky and couldn't be tightened enough. Bulky look and feel. Would not work for me for commuting in Boston winters. When I returned them, I found out they aren't actually waterproof above the rubber part. Nice warm looking lining, but not for me.

I just received the boots I paid over $300 (tax included) and am really disappointed in the quality of the leather. It feels more like pleather than genuine leather. If I weren't desperate for boots, I'd send them back. I guess I can't trust L.L. Bean for quality products anymore.

Bought these boots just a year and a month ago - wore them for one winter season (November - April) not nearly every day, treated them well, and this year they have already come apart where the upper meets the rubber lower in both boots! I am shocked. Boots that cost this much should not come apart after just 6 months light wear! I thought the quality would be high since they are "handmade in Maine." Not so this time around. And I have passed the 1 year mark by just one month so my return may not be accepted. I am hoping they will make an exception in this case...

I found these boots to not be what I expected. The bottom of these boots make your feet extremely cold while walking in snow. I will be returning them.

I have been a LL Bean customer for decades having grown up in Maine and always lived in New England. I have several versions of the LL Bean boots and Mocs. I bought these 10" shearling lined boots a few years ago and love the look of them but I my feet are always cold! It doesn't matter what I wear for a sock, as soon as I go out and set foot in some snow or puddles (even if it isn't over the rubber) my feet feel damp and cold to the bone. My coworker has the same pair and has the same issue. My husband has the gortex version and he complains of his feet being cold as well.
I spent so much on them that I will keep wearing them, but I would suggest sticking with just the Mocs if you want the classic Bean look and then getting some better winter boots for snow.

I wanted to love these boots, however I didn't. I was looking for something that was on the lighter side. I'll stick to my LL Bean Hiking boots I bought years ago and just wearing them now.

Terrified to wear these in any conditions except rain and mud. On ice, they are extremely slippery. The treads and heel also wear quickly. Materials are quality, but the so-called tread doesn't grip at all. With more ice rather than snow in our winters, I use these less and less. It's a shame, because they were expensive. The treads on these need a complete redesign.

I've had these boots for 5-6 years; I think I'm on my second pair. I love the look of them, and they're mostly pretty comfortable, but honestly I think I need to find a new boot. I really like that the insole is removable, since I have a heel lift on one side and I can fit it right under and still get the benefit of the whole insole. However, the shearling only comes down to the ankle and the rest is thinsulate, making them pretty cold until I've walked around a bit and warmed them up (and I usually wear multiple pairs of socks with them). There's also not a ton of support, and my feet hurt for a few days if I spend a lot of time walking in them. I could live with all this, though (and have for years), if it weren't for the terrible, terrible traction! I don't trust these boots on ice. Or fresh snow. Or wet floors. I want to keep loving these boots, but I can't keep falling all the time. For the love of people who love winter, please please please consider improving the traction on these! I know there are other designs and these are the "classic" ones, but what's the point in keeping a design that doesn't work?

I bought these boots maybe 3 years ago? Maybe they have improved since then. But the fleece in the boots I have only lines the leather, not the rubber. The sole (and all the rubber areas) are thin with no insulation, so the cold travels right through it and my feet are freezing after about 2 minutes. They also get very, very poor traction on icy sidewalks. I have flats that are safer on ice. These boots are great for a 50 degree rainy day, but that is it.

As a lifelong LLBean customer, I generally don't have a problem paying a bit more for the quality I have come to expect from the company. I wanted to love these boots, as they have such a great reputation. However, despite their warmth rating, my feet were absolutley frozen every time I wore these boots last winter. The shearling does not go all the way to the toes, and even with multiple pairs of socks my feet could not withstand the cold. During a pretty bad cold snap last January my feet were completely numb after being outside for about 10 minutes. Additionally, there is little to no traction on the bottom. As a Maine-based company, I assumed their title boots would have been able to withstand New England winters better than that, especially for the high price tag. Thankfully, LLBean still stands by their products and I was able to easily return them. I exchanged for the "LLBean Snow Boot" and am hoping for better results this year!

I disagree with other reviews that they run small. I had to return and get the 1/2 size up from my shoe size. The boot is warm if you are above 30 degree weather and it does not come in contact with snow. Once the rubber part gets wet in snow the boot is cold even with wool socks. I had hoped to use these to snowshoe and my everyday boots but my feet were always cold. Quality is great otherwise but warmth is important to me.

I wanted to love these boots so much. They are practical, warm, and lovely. But they were not comfortable for me at all. The top of them abraded my shins, and felt stiff and the footbed was very uncomfortable. I inquired if they would break in and was told a little bit but not much. I wore them around my house for several days hoping I'd get used to it, but found myself sighing with relief when I took them off, and when I put on another old pair of trusted waterproof leather flats, that were comfortable from the start, it felt like slipping into a cloud. and when faced with a choice of what to put on, I'd opt for the ones I already owned. So I ended up returning. Extremely lovely and well made, but surprising that the design is not tailored more for comfort.

I ordered these boots as they were rated to be extremely warm; however, my feet become frozen cold even with two layers of socks within 10-15 minutes in 25-30 degree F temps; these were supposed to be rated for far colder temperatures. Very disappointed.

I loved these boots and waited almost 4months to receive them, to only have to return them. I have other LL Bean boots that are great!
These boots run big. I ordered a size 8 and they were more like a size 9 1/2 to 10. I tried everything to make them work because I didn't want to return or exchange them.
I had a friend who wares a size 9 try them on and they were to big for her.
Disappointed!

I bought these boots 2 years ago and like them very much...in a way. The shocking thing is that they are not warm. I wonder if the steel shank is conducting the cold, or if I am supposed to have a thicker insole, or if there is a tiny leek I am not finding? My feet feel cold and damp in just a few minutes, even with wool socks. The shearling lined bit up my calf is perfect, the foot area is the problem. The inside of the boot is also starting to get a bit smelly which can't be good. I air them out and try to look after them. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I bought these boots in a 6W and they were MASSIVE. They were even a little big on my sister who wears an 8. They are bigger than a standard men's 6 would be. Why? There is no reason to make your boots have their own sizing system!
That aside, they were incredibly comfortable so I decided to keep them anyway. I went to lace up the boots and discovered the laces aren't even long enough to lace up to the top. That's fine. They are comfortable and super cute so I decided again to keep them anyway and just wear them laced to the 3rd lace hole from the bottom. I also noticed there was some damage to the leather from glue getting on the boot during the production process but again I was willing to overlook that because I love the boots.
And then I wore them outside. These boots aren't just not waterproof - the toe box let in significant amount of water where they are rubber. I didn't walk in any puddles deeper than 1/2" and it was barely sprinkling but my feet were still soaked! That was the last straw. These boots are going back as soon as I can get to a post office. I can put up with rain boots that are too big, slightly damaged, and don't lace all the way up. I can't put up with rain boots that don't keep out the rain.
