This is now my 4th pr of LLB boots. I finally broke down and got the winter ones!!! Since I'm a BIG FAN of these, I will ALWAYS SAY I LOVE THEM! These are Esp. nice w/the shearling lining in them! They are SUPER WARM!!! I also like the 10" height of these.....GREAT for keeping out the snow! I even have Big calves and they still fit great in through the leg area, unlike other higher boots that I've had in the past! So should you have a larger/heavier leg, don't let that deter you from getting these!!!! I Couldn't wait for it to snow to finally give them their TRUE test!!! AND they WON of course. These seem heavier then the others, unlined, that I have. So I can stay put on ice! So I just found out! I Don't slide on it as I once did w/other winter boots. I got my reg. size, and I even wore heavier sox w/them and they are as SUPER as I EXPECTED them to be! NO Complaints!

I purchased this boot as well as the 8" Shearling-Lined Bean Boot (with the baseball-glove soft leather) a few years ago. I also have several pairs of 8" unlined Bean Boots. I thought at the time that these 10" ones might be useful in some weather because they are taller, but they seem to me so much heavier and clunkier than the 8" boots that I haven't worn them too much. Maybe they do provide more protection if walking in really deep snow, but although I am outside in winter a lot, I find it hard to hike in that much snow even when I have these boots on. Part of the issue could be that I am short (5'3") and older (in my 50's), I guess. But still, these boots were expensive and I think that I would have gotten more use out of a shorter pair. I've never bought a bad pair of Bean Boots though, so it all depends on what you are looking for.

Love them. Sized down and they fit perfect. So warm and comfy. The laces tho - honestly??? Short and of poor quality. Can't help but wonder how many negative lace reviews it will take for LLBean to correct this flaw - details matter.

I wanted to address the other comments, but must preface I live in Santa Barbara, so haven't a clue how they hold up in freezing weather; however, they're perfect for "cold" mornings when I take my dog to the beach. Normally a 7, ordered a 6 like they suggest and it's a perfect fit. Fur is warm, only goes to ankles and there's a padded bottom which is better than what I was expecting. I don't wear socks, they don't hurt at all, and are flexible enough. I definitely understand the shoe lace issues. If I lace them really tight, they will go to top, but presumably if you live in New England and bundle up like Ralphie, not sure thick socks/layers will allow for that. The tongue is loose, so if a wave hits me just right, water does seep between the tongue and boot. If I were wearing socks and snow fell through, wouldn't be happy that my once snug feet were now wet. All in all I'm pleased, I wanted waterproof boots for the winter so I didn't have to get my feet wet at the beach- yes the Pacific is cold! Wellies aren't as snug/comfortable/easy to walk around in. I like to lace up to the second to last eyelet, and have to be mindful to not chase the ball too deep where the tops of the boots are submerged to the laces. My photo shows one boot laced really tight and to the top, the other more relaxed so you can see the lengths of shoe strings.

I got these for Christmas and have worn them every single day since! The boots are great, very comfortable but I was really confused about the length of the laces. I called LL Bean and they said the 10" boots come with the 64" socks and they asked me to check if they had accidentally sent me the wrong laces. Nope. The laces the boots come with are only long enough for 6 of the 8 eyelets. It looks really shabby to not have it laced all the way up - I tried alternating eyelets and making the laces extra tight - but still it looked sloppy and almost made the boots look cheap. Mind you since the tongue of the boots aren't attached like the original bean boots, the tongue looked really bad just flopping out un-laced. Also, more importantly, since the tongue isn't attached, you risk getting the shearling dirty/wet if you wear the boots not laced up all the way. I wore them in a rainy/snowy day and it was super gross. Did not want to damage the shearling any further, so I decided to bite the bullet and order shoe laces online. I purchased 81" laces but these are also just long enough to loop through every hole, still can't tie a cute little bow with the 81". If you buy the 10" boots and want to be able to lace up all the way, BUY 81"+ SHOELACES. LL Bean does not sell shoelaces for the boots, or I would have bought from them. A little bummed out I had to pay ~$20 for a pair of shoe laces that were long enough -- that should have come with the boots anyway -- but would recommend.

I haven't purchased bean boots since College (45 years ago). I am so happy with my new shearling boots. So comfortable and warm.

I had my previous Bean boots for 18 years- wearing them daily through the Maine winters, until they were worn out. I didn't think the new boots could take the place of my old friends, but the new boots are even improved!! Thanks, LL Bean!!

I bought these boots the year this style came out, I'm guessing more than 15 years ago. I have worn these boots consistently every winter in New England, and have walked miles a day in them during trips. I worked in hockey for a while and they have kept my feet warm in half of the hockey rinks in New England. I wear them dogsledding in Quebec. These boots have been worn walking around 7 countries and still keep my feet warm and dry. Hands down the best purchase I have ever made.

I've had these boots for more than 15 years, and wear them most of the winter as long as the snow isn't too deep. I wear through the soles but have sent them back to be resoled twice now, and the boots are going to last at least another 15 years.

I cannot recommend these enough! First - if you're a style girlie, these are classic and have never - and will never - go out of style. These boots have seen me through 12 years of NC & SC rain and snow events, and even just really cold days. These are so easy to walk in, unlike big clumsy floppy (and trendy) rain boots; they also look good with jeans, leggings, everything. The shearling is perfectly cozy never too hot even on milder days when I wear these in the rain; the leather molds to your ankles/legs nicely as you wear them. Per recommendations, I ordered a 6 even though my regular size is a 6.5-7 and I'm glad I did. I can wear thinner socks and the boots fit me perfectly, molded to my feet/ankles. Rain has not diminished the leather at all; easy to clean. I've never ever had my socks get wet while wearing them - amazing! You can't beat L.L. Bean quality and longevity; just like my boat and tote bags I've had for 20+ years. I wouldn't hesitate buying a higher ticket boot like this because they'll last you forever. Granted, I paid $179 12 years ago, and now they're $299. So far my per year cost has been $15; and at current price would be $25!? A deal - I'll take it!

I bought these several years ago, and they are still the best snow boots I've ever bought. The one nitpick that I would have about the design is that I wish the treads were more substantial on the bottom, but it's not a huge problem. But they are warm and sturdy and I absolutely love them!

The snug warm fit (with the fleece insole added) is perfect, and I have difficult feet to fit. The biggest bonus is the flexible sole which makes walking easier and safer!

As an LL Bean employee, I don't think it's possible to have too many pairs of Bean boots! These are so warm and cozy that I can't wait for winter! I followed the sizing suggestions and bought a half size down from my regular shoe size. I like the dark brown leather and the shearling lining - the footbed is insulated but not with shearling. I plan to wear them with comfy socks and a pair of jeans or leggings.

I have had these boots for nearly six years and have thoroughly tested them in western New York. They are worth every penny. Somehow they hardly show any wear at all. I have a very wide foot and finding shoes that fit correctly has always been a challenge. I am able to wear these for long periods of time and they're still very comfortable.

Like the website suggests, these boots run long lenth-wise. But note that I think they run narrow in width. I'm an average US womens size 8 to 8.5 and I ended up with a 7.5 wide in this boot. I also bought a shearling insole to place inside. I love that they have a few extra eye holes in the tongue to keep it in place. They don't come with directions but you can use them to keep the laces loose to slip on quickly, or lace them up tighter for more stability. Once I found the correct size, I really love these boots! We have had a really cold and snowy winter so far and these boot keep my feet warm and cozy.

I live at 5000 in the Rocky Mountains. These are my "go-to" boots for anything outdoors in the winter. They keep my feet warm and dry. Great for snowshoeing and grocery shopping. The traction is very good, unless it is a sheet of ice -- and then nothing helps but cleats!

I have had these boots for 10 years and love them more every year. I bought them when I lived in Nova Scotia and they got me through 3 winters there and I lived in them from November-April. Now, in NJ, and I pull these out every winter. So comfortable, and keep my feet warm and dry. I get compliments on them every time I wear them. When I wore out the treads on the bottoms, I shipped them back to L.L.Bean who replaced the soles at a reasonable cost. I LOVE these SO much!! They just get better with age.
