The boot was comfortable and soft right out of the box! Very nice soft leather and the insole is very smooth and cushy. It doesn't feel like you're wearing a boot! I'm an 8 and the fit was perfect. My feet tend to be wide so I'm glad they come in a wide width. Very pleased with my purchase! Can't wait for the brown color to arrive back in stock!! Thank you LL Bean!!

Very comfortable boot, I am a size 10 and it is not bulky looking. Not stiff like others that I purchased and returned from other stores.

Well-Constructed boot. Sits comfortably over the ankle without rubbing. Easy to put on and with sturdy laces.

Great fit and comfortable boots. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a boots to hike or wear around town.

Very nice boots! I purchased them for my 22 yr old daughter after she moved to Philadelphia to keep her feet warm and dry while walking thru the city. They seem trendy enough for her despite typically wearing combat boots. I bought her the size 8 which is her usual size and they fit well. She wears them with a pair of medium weight socks, also purchased thru L.L. Bean.

Need to wear them to break them in so give them some time but once they are acclimated to your foot, they are a super comfortable all-weather option.

I've never had hiking boots before. These are perfect.

I love these boots ! Very comfortable ! No break in time, they are soft, light weight & fit well. I wear a women's 6. I ordered a wide width since i have bunions & most shoes r tight. You want a heavier sock or added insole if they feel loose. I use them as a work boot since i am on my feet all day & have horses. I LOVE THESE BOOTS !

I have searched bought numerous boots for my landscaping business. These boots are by far the most comfortable, and warm!

When these boots arrived, I knew I was going to return them even before I put them on. They are well made and look good IF you don't mind the white sole edge. I really just couldn't get past that. I just didn't like the look. Change the color of the sole and I would have loved them! So it's just personal taste. Sorry.

Great boot - love the look and overall feel. Only issue is that it takes a little getting used to in terms of breaking in the height near the ankle. It can be kind of uncomfortable for the first series of wears.

I hesitate to rate as I haven't worn them yet. I bought them for a trip to Scotland next September but I need to break them in and it's been very snowy here and I didn't want to muck them up.They seem sturdy but are much stiffer than I had hoped. Sizing was good but the footbed wasn't comfortable so I added an insert.

I love them! I just wish they had a little more support/cusion.

These are great boots. They are mostly comfortable, seem indestructible, and the vibe reminds me of my beloved Bean workboots I had in high school. The leather is thick and the sole is nicely cushioned. They are bitey around the collar when laced up all the way, but wearable if I skip the top lacing hooks, which I normally do anyway. I believe this area would break in, in time. Fit on these boots is tricky. For length, I'd agree with other reviewers to size down half a size. I normally wear a size 9 in boots, and even with wool socks the 8.5 fit me great. The regular width was tight across the instep (I have high insteps), so I exchanged them for a wide size. Perfect fit! However, after wearing maybe ten times, they stretched out enough to feel floppy on my feet. I may try exchanging them back for the regular width, since I know they will stretch.

recommend Back ankle a little stiff; otherwise incredibly comfortable

I gave them as a gift for Christmas to my daughter. She said they were cozy and kept her feet warm and dry. However,they did rub bruises around the top of the boot so we are looking for some kind of cushion to prevent that. That made it four stars only.

Good quality but too long for me. I really liked the wide width. I may order a shorter length.

These boots are nice looking and seem very well made and really wanted to like them, but they just werent comfortable especially on my one foot. I have hammer toes and bunion on one foot. They just were too snug even in the wide and I didn't feel they would stretch enough with wear. I do a lot of daily walking, not hiking, and I need something really comfortable I reluctantly sent them back.

I have no complaints about this boot. Love the look but they run on the large size. Im normally a 7(no socks)-71/2(with socks) and I ordered a 7 1/2 and they feel a bit too roomy. Have to exchange for a 7. Website says size up if you are in between but I disagree. Order 1/2 size down.

Nice & warm, well made boot however, not good on snow & ice.

These seem like really sturdy, comfortable and well-made boots but as other reviewers have noted, they run *really* big. I assume that's so you can wear warm wool socks with them but even sizing down they were too big for me. I would have liked to try them in a smaller size but it involved too much guessing. Another half size down or another whole size? I ordered wide but didn't need it all, which created more questions. Should I go with a medium instead of wide AND size down more? I couldn't face the back and forth, paying for returns every time, so I just returned. I may try them again at some point because they are really nice. I'd rather the toe was rounder though, so they could just leave off some of that extra length where your feet don't go anyway.

I bought these boots for general fall and winter wear in Wisconsin. The footbed was comfortable immediately. Because they hit higher on my ankle than any of my other boots, I find I am often adjusting the boot and lacing to make it more comfortable. Also, with the cold in the winter months, I thought the wide would not only accommodate the shape of my foot, but would also allow for a thicker sock. It really is not roomy enough in the toes to allow that. Overall, I like the boots and wear them, they are just not as versatile as I thought they would be.

Wanted to have them fit, but just not enough support. I need cushioning and support. They looked great. Just not a good fit.
