I purchase a considerable amount of product from LLBean, and have owned four Robes over the past years all have held up very well, great quality, fit and comfort. My last purchase was somewhat disappointing first of all the robes that I prefer art the Portuguese flannel, the selection of colors were all plaid I prefer solid colors, I purchased a black watch and after the first wash their was a bunch of pilling in fact the pilling was excessive I informed LLBean and to their credit they had me return the product and was sent a replacement. Unfortunately the same thing is occurring . I like the product however the quality or finish of this product has a problem that needs to be addressed.

Because of all the great reviews, the cost and the manufacturer- I expected more. While the fabric on the outside seems nice and soft the inside didn't seem to be all that soft. Perhaps with a washing it would be better? But overall I just wasn't impressed with the quality of the fabric. It was also HUGE (as were the matching lounge pants). My husband could've wrapped it around himself twice. However he LOVES his LL Rugby robe. (I bought one for cold winter days and a lighter one for typical days.) LL Bean was also outstanding on a service issue I had as well. This item just didn't do it for me.

This is an attractive plaid robe, but it feels less substantial than previous models. Lightweight may be fine for well heated homes or mild weather, but the middle of winter calls for something warmer.

While the quality of this robe is up to L.L. Bean standards, it is much too light for winter use. Not cozy warm.

I purchased this robe in the fall of 2015. It is a very soft and comfortable flannel. I was completely satisfied until a hole appeared in the elbow last week. Should a robe last more than four years? I would hope so, but mine didn't. I am deciding whether to buy a new one, but see reviews that the flannel is even thinner than previously. I would recommend because outside reviewers like the robe. But, buyer beware.

The robe itself was ok. However, my husband had one of the old robes and it doesn't compare. The old one was longer, heavier, and also lined with blue flannel (he had the black watch) so much better for the long cold winters in northern Canada.

This bathrobe was purchased to replace one I purchased from ll bean about 7-10 years ago. That one ripped at the elbow on one sleeve. I loved the old one. It had nice heavy weight flannel. I was a little disappointed with the quality of the flannel with this one. It is much lighter weight and really kind of flimsy compared to the older one. I doubt it will last as long.

I was disappointed with this robe I purchased for my husband. Although he has not worn it yet, from what I can see it is humongous. It's also thinner than I expected which might not be an issue as it is a nice soft flannel. As I monogrammed it, guess who is stuck with it!

Unfortunately, it isn't cut for people who prefer things more slim so had to return.

The robe is slightly lighter than I thought it would be, yet it is soo soft and a pleasure to put on, i found the med slightly tight, and the loops for the belt seem flimsy, time will tell

Have always bought just Bean flannel shirts so figured I'd get this robe. Well before wearing it put it and sleep shorts into wash. What a mess from all the lint. Went into the dryer and what a mess from all the lint again. I have my doubts about the Bean purchase!!!

Looks great, feels great. Fits great. Only caveat I have is that it attracts lint (and dandruff) like crazy!

The robe was a Christmas present, I was a bit embarrassed when I gave it because it is so light. One hardly holds anything in one's hand. It seems flimsy. I bought earlier the pajama in the same pattern and thought it was the same quality, but it is not.

The LLBEAN quality I have enjoyed over the years has gone. The flannel robe is a replacement for one so enjoyed for many years. The material of this new one is thin. It certainly doesn't meet the standard of being called a winter robe.

The material is nice but it was too short for my 6'1" husband. I ordered tall/L. Wish LL Bean would sell ankle length as that would be better for warmth and comfort.

Too thin. Thought for the price it would've been a little thicker.

My husband has one of these robes purchased at least 8 yrs ago. It needed replacement and we were hoping it would be the same quality fabric. This new one is thinner and is not appropriate for him for the winter. We are very disappointed and are returning it. (This review is an update from a few days ago)

Pretty disappointed with this purchase. I find the fabric to be quite thinner than I expected. The fit is also odd, which makes it difficult to keep in place. I will be returning this.

Love the feel of this robe, I bought it to replace my husband's current LLBean robe he's had for 20 years. Ordered the same size, but this one really shrunk in the wash, especially in length, and I followed washing instructions. Will try a size bigger.

This is the thinnest flannel I've ever felt. Low quality tie feels like it will break when you tie it. Very disappointed in this. The embroidering is the only thing that looks okay and even then some of the strands are loose. I could have made a nicer one myself and I haven't sewed since high school.

This looked warm & cozy, but the material is thinner than a regular flannel shirt. It is not lined either, when you hold it up to the light you can see through it. For $80 you'd expect something with heavier weight to it to keep you warm ... it even hangs on you funny because it is so lightweight. Disappointed in the quality, but glad for the customer service with free returns. Definitely sending this one back.

I'm sewing flannel patches onto the elbow's of the third robe that I've bought for my husband. The thin flannel wore through. Love the look but the flannel of the 2nd and 3rd robes are thinner than the vintage 1st robe. Still his favorite bathrobe.

The item is lightweight flannel and not warm. I have shirts thicker than this. It is more suited to a beach resort than winter hearth. I wanted a robe like my old fleece-lined flannel but it is not available anymore. Only sherpa lining. Really? Sherpa? The robe is not made in the USA but like most of Bean's products these days from somewhere else in the World like Malaysia/Mexico/Thailand/Maldives or wherever. For a company that promotes themselves as "America's Outdoors" people that is intolerable. LLBean is not what it used to be, and any future purchases will be far and few between.
