I am an average build with broad shoulders, but finally found the right size. I have bought a medium in the past but that was also way too big in the shoulders. I worried a small, regular, might be too short in the sleeves, but it is just right. Although, I have made sure not to machine dry, and wash in cold to keep the fit perfect. The flannel is medium weight, but is warmer than I expected. It seems like it will work for any season. So if you are usually a 42 inch, large in all your other clothes. I recommend the size SMALL in these flannel robes. I took off a star because the sizes are wrong, and that is a pain.

This is my second LL Bean robe. My old one served me well but the pockets started to give way. The new robe is very nice though the lining is not as heavy as the older one. Living in Wisconsin a heavy robe is very nice in the winter! With that said, I like my new robe and would recommend it to others. LL Bean makes a good product and I've been a customer for 40 plus years.

I went on a robe hunt this past year to find the most comfortable one, and I finally tried this one after reading Wirecutter's recommendation. The robe is great, and flannel is really soft after it's first wash. I went with a Small in this robe (I wear a Medium in their t-shirts) because robes tend to be pretty generously cut and I'm not super overweight. I'm happy with the small, but I could see it shrinking with enough washes that I might have been better off with a Medium. However, the small fits great and the sleeves aren't so long that they get in the way of making food or eating, and it looks more like I appreciate nice things as opposed to experiencing a mid-life crisis. My only complaint is that I wish they would have more modern colors. I ordered the Black Watch Tartan, and while it's probably the best color of the lot, I would prefer to see some nicer color schemes in the future.

This robe is very comfortable and warm; the only thing I wish it did not wrinkle so much . I have not washed it yet, so maybe it won't wrinkle as much after washing and drying.

This robe is so soft and cozy. Fit my 6'2'' boyfriend perfectly. Clearly I need to buy one for myself now because I steal his all the time. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I got it monogrammed, and didn't realize how HUGE the monogram would be on the robe. The monogram is not all that nice looking in the end (slightly tacky, I think), and I wish I had just gotten it for him without the monogram.

size a little big but I like things loose. the only complaint I have is that product leaves ball of lint everywhere, after 5 or 6 washings getting better but still sheds

This is my second one. The first one didn't last as long as I might like, but it was just too comfortable; I had to get another. The new one seems to have a little heavier weight fabric, so it should last a while longer.

Nice robe for cool weather. Ordered size XL based on the sizing chart and had it monogrammed. Tried it on when I received it (sooner than promised) and it is too big. Washed it and it didn't shrink any. Should have gone with my gut and ordered a Large. Monogrammed, never worn hanging in my closet, and can't be returned. I'll keep wearing my old Bean terry cloth robe.

Excellent robe. One small nit to pick is the sleeves are 1-2 inches too long.

I like this robe a lot. It's thinner than I'd thought, though, very lightweight, and slightly billowy after washer/dryer. I roll the sleeves up slightly. A little surprising after watching the LL Bean video set in the Portuguese flannel mill factory, and again by the label saying that it was made in El Salvador. (Milled in Portugal, assembled in El Salvador, I'm guessing? Shrug.) There WAS a substantial amount of lint in the first washer/dryer. All that said, it has a luxuriously comfortable feel on one's body. It's pretty true to size, despite it's billowy-ness, which disappears with its thin accompanying cinch. Is this worth $70? I bought it with 25-percent off of that, and because I trust the integrity of LL Bean products, by and large. I'm happy with this robe and I recommend it!

Robe is soft flannel, fits well, a bit thin but warm enough for indoor wear. Washed with other clothes - a mistake. Lint all over other clothes, washer, and later dryer. But comfortable once dry so still happy with robe.

I bought this robe as a gift for my daughter and her new husband to share. It is an amazing robe and if it lasts half as long as my similar LLBean robe it will last a long time (mine is over 25 years old and still wearable). My only complaint is that the monogram was done wrong. When I called to get it exchanged the color and size we had ordered were out of stock. My daughter said she'd keep it as is and it will give us all a good laugh! I had asked for a big bold W and got a tiny dark W.

The reason I gave only four stars is that I was surprised when receiving this that the material was rather thin and light weight. Otherwise it fits well. It was a gift for my son who liked it.

Bathrobe was generous in size. Would like it to be longer such as mid calf.

The robe is perfect for my use, primarily before and after bathing. I enjoy its softness and warmth. I bought it to replace an older and somewhat worn LL Bean robe of the same style.

The Scotch Plaid color was just what we expected- nice looking. The flannel was a moderate weight but it could have been a little heavier for our preferences. We were torn between the L & XL, and went with the L. It fits good.

I have been wearing these robes for many years. what I have noticed is the duration has been decreasing. the robes are wearing out quicker than they did years ago. i miss the days when they were made in USA. they were of better quality then. but compared to items sold in other stores, it is the best today.

Very soft and comfy. The embroidery color suggested by the website was way off. Very hard to read, blends in with the background too much. Robe could be longer also.

This attractive robe is a good weight for medium warming. I use the "boxer", hooded LL Bean robe for really cold nights. This robe is stylish and comfy for the "oh no, winter is coming, but it's not quite here" nights.
