Overall, I am very happy with the vest. Comfortable, warm enough for what I need in Virginia and versatile to wear over long-sleeved shirts and sweaters. My only issue is that while it fits right for my chest, it feels too loose and large around my waist. It would be nice to have and internal drawstring or some way to tighten the waist up a little, especially when I am only wearing a shirt and not a heavy layer.

As soon as I put this fleece on I knew we had been together for years. Soft. Warm. Quality stitching you always get from LLBean. Comfy!! Great color too!!

I ultimately purchased both a large and a medium. The sizing on this item seems to be "off". The large is way too large, and the medium is slightly too small. I have lots of LL been shirts and flannels; and I don't have this issue. So, I have sent both sizes back.

Agree with the others, I own a few of these and love them except the collar is too tall. It's uncomfortable and a flaw on an others great vest

I have a couple of these that I wear in a professional setting over business casual button-up collared shirts. I like everything about these vests except that the collar is about 1 inch too tall. It sticks up far past the collar of my dress shirt and pokes me in the jawline continuously during the day when I'm sitting. This goes for the sweater fleece zip-up jacket and pullover as well. Personally, I think L.L. Bean should take about an inch out of the collar height on this specific vest because it's more commonly worn for fashion/light indoor insulation, and less for outdoor adventuring.

This was bought as a Christmas gift for my husband and 1 1/2 months later it is full of pills. I expected better for the price and that it is an LL Bean product. Very disappointed! Would not buy again.

Overall I like the vest. There is "fleece " lining around the inside of the collar. This vest would be much better if entirely fleece lined. I did need to return the vest as the outside upper pocket was not sewn at the bottom, phone fell through. Would also be nice if there were pockets in the inside of vest, as most are these days, especially at this price.

The quality of the vest is very good. The fit, not so good. Beans shirts, jackets, sweaters, anything for the torso is oversized. I ordered a large, as I have always worn, but the vest and all my shirts from Bean are extra large.

Nice vest. I like the sweater aspect to the fleece inside. Needs more pockets. To me a vest is less to keep warm (no sleeves, so . . .) but utilitarian.

The vest was well-made and delivered on time, as I would expect from LL Bean. The sizing was unexpected. I have for decades worn mens medium, from Bean and others. I am about the same as ever: 5-7, reasonably fit. This vest was plus-sized, long and wide. (Substantially bigger than the 20-year old mens medium Bean pile vest it was meant to replace.) That sizing may fit the current customer, but no longer fits me. I'm keeping the old one.

Great material but lousy zippers. This could be the best vest to buy but it has the worst zippers and tiny zipper pulls

It as happy with this purchase. Material a bit stiff and coarse. Slightly heavier in weight than anticipated.

I got an XL b/c the color I wanted was only available in XL. Maybe a L would have fit better. Not a terrible fit just a little bigger than I hoped for.

The quality was good but the sweater was too heavy for where I live in Florida.

This must have been a return to the store, because when my husband opened the gift and put it on there were tissues and a pill in the pocket. Disappointed in the store putting returns on the rack without checking the pockets. I washed it and my husband likes it overall

I wish this one had a little bit more of a tapered fit but I still like it

Returned since arm opennings too big. Too bad, since material and design were good quality.

When I bought this improved vest when it was first introduced a couple of years ago, I loved its new look and greater warmth. But I washed it recently in my general laundry; the pilling was so severe it couldn't be worn in public. Thanks to an electronic de-pillerator, I was able to remove the pilling after a half-hour of steady work. ADViCE: Wash it by itself and air dry only.

Nice soft, but still substantial, fabric. Medium size for a medium husband seemed a bit snug. The collar sets high on the neck & won't lay down comfortably (other reviewers have mentioned this). Not a perfect fit, but a "keeper" anyway.

After a while the vest gets "pilly" and doesn't look very nice. Always washed inside out but that didn't help.

This was a gift for our son who is over 6' tall. Basically, he liked it, but wished it was just a little longer in the back. He is an IT guy, and has to do a lot of bending, so good coverage is important for him. That is the only reason the score is this low.
