I have been looking for a quilted jacket for years to wear in the fall and in the car in New England--something a but more lightweight and sleek than a puffer but also not formal. I had been eyeing this jacket for over a year and took the plunge when it went on sale recently. Overall, I like it a lot. My two main complaints are: 1. It is indeed more lightweight than expected and could use a smidge more padding (very minor issue as I didn't want a puffer as I mentioned earlier) and 2. there is no cell phone pocket in the interior lining of the coat--this is actually a bigger issue for me and seems like a pretty strange omission in this day and age. In spite of these caveats, I am keeping the jacket as it is almost perfect, it has a nice shape to it, is not too bulky and the buttons are a muted brass rather than a garish gold color. I purchased this on sale and feel that it was a good buy for the sale price but probably not at full price. I am 5'3" about 140 lbs 38 x 31 x 39 and the petite medium fits pretty well though a little snug around the bust if I were wearing a heavy sweater and a bit snug under the arms when I lift them up but ok otherwise so I think that is just the cut. The length is perfect for my frame both arms and overall. I purchased black and like the versatility. I would consider purchasing another one on sale if it just had the dang cell phone pocket.

Seems perfect for walking the dog, errands and more. Lightweight, better styling than an older version.

Great buy at the sale price. I took a chance and ordered this in a Medium even though a lot of the reviewers of my height/weight or under seem to prefer a Large. I live in the PNW and tend to wear thinner sweaters (e.g. LL Bean cashmere sweater) and I like a more fitted look. This jacket fit fine through the shoulder and hip, just a little bit shorter than I expected. If you wear a lot of layers or thicker sweaters you may want a looser fit.

Would be nice if the sleeves had cuffs with snaps - easier to turn up when they are too long. Need more pockets!!!!! A couple inside and zipped ones on the outside big enough for a phone.

I was really looking forward to loving this jacket but it didn't work for me. Too big and I had envisioned a more natural fabric. The small may have worked but at $6.50 for returns- I just didnt like it enough.

All in all, I like this jacket but there are some minor issues. I have long arms and somewhat wide shoulders. The sleeve length is perfect for me but it is a bit skimpy across the shoulders but not enough to send it back. This must just be me because nobody else complained about that. It is pretty light weight for more than slightly cool weather. It is very classy looking and could dress up or down so jeans or nice pants. The snaps are extremely hard to open for me, to the point that I have to hold the fabric of the jacket with one hand and yank on the snap with the other so will probably never use the snaps. This may be partly due to arthritis in my hands. I love the dark ivy color. So, pluses and minuses but I like enough to keep it, especially since it was on sale and gift cards paid for most of it.

Jacket is well made and comfortable to wear. It is a good weight for temps in the 40's and 50's. It's not at all bulky. Goes well with jeans and is a nice alternative to black. It's a little pricey but I know it will last many years. Plaid lining fabric is appropriate for the style and color. I bought small petite-5'2 and 112 lbs.

Really expected more from this company. The jacket is just lined with a very thin, plaid print material, not actual flannel lined so the jacket is really not very warm. Not worth the price point.

Beautiful jacket but too snug for a large chested girl.

I like the style of this jacket but had to return it because the zipper is defective. I also wish that LL Bean will update the length of the jacket to look more like a car coat. The material is a bit on the thin side but good enough for where I live.

It is a nice and well made jacket but it did not look good on me. I returned and the cost of shipping was deducted from my refunded amount. This makes me think twice before I order from LL Bean now.

I have purchased this jacket three times in the last couple if weeks. I have had a tan one that I bought many years ago and that I love. It still looks great. I decided I would like another color so ordered this in black. The fit is good. I ordered an XL and it it fits as expected. I like that I can adjust the waist snaps, which I do. It makes it look very flattering. It's mid weight so I could wear a sweater under it if I wanted to. My only complaint is that the color looks navy blue not black! I have ordered it three times and they all look navy blue. I will keep it because I like the style of the coat but somewhere there is a problem.

Looks good, love the color, but it's a little thinner than I expected. Good for fall.

Initially purchased a size small; I am 5'4, 131 lbs. The small was actually too big! I opted for xs and it fits perfectly, with room to layer. I love the lining and the look of the jacket, but the zipper is a huge drawback. Sometimes it's ok and at other times, it takes forever to zip up properly. I still like it and would purchase it again.

This jacket is beautiful and I wish it fit me but it is a little too tight across the shoulders so I had to return it. Now I do have broad shoulders but the other quilted jacket fits well in the shoulders. The description said they had modified the design on this jacket so it is the second time I tried it. Maybe next redesign will have more room in the shoulders. Very, very classy jacket.

I read reviews before purchasing that expressed issues with the zipper. I ordered anyway because I purchase regularly and L.L. Bean quality is 5 stars. The jacket is fantastic, but the third time wearing the jacket, the zipper was stuck, with much difficulty correcting the problem. I will keep the jacket and pray this will not happen again.

My old jacket was fading after about 10 years - thought this one looked about the same. Really happy it is the same, what luck. Just ordered a different color. Don't need "new" fashion - just fit and comfort.

The jacket arrived today, has a soft feel to both its outer fabric snd its lining which is slick enough to go on over sleeves without clinging, and the styling is pleasing with only one exception. The snaps have writing on them which will keep me from wearing it until I find a successful way to cover them. I do not wear writing on clothing, no matter how much I like the company or the product. Please start making clothing and accessories without writing added. Then I can be fully comfortable in wearing it, snd the garment will be more versatile. As far as recommending this jacket is concerned, I would recommend it and give five stars only if no writing shows. I might hem the sleeves just enough to hide the snaps.

I have been wearing this jacket almost every day this Spring, replacing another one I had for many years. It's comfortable and flattering. The only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 is that the collar doesn't want to lie flat. I have to flatten it down each wearing. Otherwise, it's great.

Love jacket! Sleeves are lacking an inside cuff, which causes sleeves to 'hang' too long. I will add a strip of elastic to bottom of sleeves to alleviate this. Jacket itself it warm, yet lightweight, and a great length! Love the roomy-ness of upper arms and armholes!!! Can wear many styles under jacket!

The sleeves are too long and I wish another snap at the wrist was added to make them adjustable. I will fold them under since folding them over would expose the flannel lining and ruin the look. This jacket is very flattering on my slim body.

I would like to give 5 Stars but there is a problem with Zipper. I'm returning the jacket but definitely getting the same one. It's a great riding jacket.
