I ordered a size up, so that I could wear this as an outer layer. The shirt itself is warm and comfortable, but I heartily dislike the two LL Bean labels on the ourside; there's a big logo on the front, and a smaller one on the back. The prominent logos frequently deter me from buying clothes from this company.

I just got this along with the pants, and like them more than I expected to. It's for an upcoming winter trip, so looking for a warm layer. It's perfect - supercomfortable even though it's wool. Fits perfectly, with one small exception. The thumb holes don't work for me. I don't have superlong arms, but it would not be comfortable to use them. I would recommend ditching them. But overall, great fit, warm and comfortable.

This is my new favorite shirt! Now I have 2 in the black, they are warm and comfy, and fit very nicely. You can totally forget that this is wool, no itch ever, and so much nicer than a synthetic top.

This is a great base layer. The merino wool is warm, but not itchy, and stretchy enough for active sports. I recently wore it for a ski trip in Colorado and it kept me warm and dry through a number of temperature variations over the course of a week. The color is a nice change from the usual boring black or ivory that I usually buy. Also bought the matching leggings, which are of a similar fit and quality.

Thumb holes are useless so I knocked a star off for that. The material is heavier, which I wanted, and very soft. A good buy on sale. I wouldn't pay full price though. Also I sized up a size.

The Cresta midweight base layer is one of my favorite L.L. Bean products. I have purchased these in the past and ordered my usual size this time but now, all of a sudden, it is smaller. I ordered a size small but needed to send it back for a medium, which fit perfectly. The small was tight and especially snug under the arms. Obviously, the sizing has changed. Something to be aware of. I ordered the carbon navy color this time, which is a great color! Four stars instead of five because of the sizing change.

Overall a decent start to the design. Needs improvements, specifically on the design of the sleeves. I am almost a petite at 5'3&3/4", and I generally wear a size small. However, I ordered this in a medium for wearing another layer beneath and because I didn't want it skin tight. So, I was surprised that the sleeves were too short, taking the thumb holes into consideration. Very tight pull between the thumb and forefinger. The sleeve needs a cuff with a better, hemmed thumbhole. The thumb holes were the selling point for me, but it almost seems like they were a poorly thought out afterthought. The body of the top is a nice fit and I could easily wear my usual size small, but I imagine the sleeves would be even shorter.
Got the lavender color and the matching tights. Nice color but I imagine the hands of the sleeves will be stained before too long since it's such a light color. Fabric was lighter weight than expected. Still a good buy and more affordable than smart wool.

Bought two last winter. They are the perfect layer between your t-shirt and your fleece to keep you toasty. We machine wash cold and hang dry, and they still look like new.

This shirt is super comfortable and just the right weight for me. I hate to be hot but like a long sleeve in the winter. This is perfect. A bit pricey for me but after buying this one I splurged and bought 3 more. These will be my go-to's this season.

I wanted this for a trip. I'm often cold so need extra layers. This worked beautifully on it's own and as a warm layer on colder days. I wore it hiking and in the city. I wore it many days in a row without an odor and it washed out easily in a sink.
The only thing I'd change is removing the LLBean logo from the front -- if I've dressed it up a little I can't take off the jacket or sweater I'm wearing over it. On casual days it's not an issue.

These long John's or long underwear are so soft and comfortable! I actually started wearing them as pjs and I've never slept better! They are a great addition to your wool wardrobe. Layering is the key to staying warm and comfortable so everything I wear is wool in the winter. Except underwear but my socks are lambs wool. I have worn them under some clothes the other day when it was cold and I was nice and toasty. I usually run cold so this is a lifesaver for me. The price is worth it when you see the quality.

Nice base layer. Seems similar in warmth and quality to other competitor brands like ice breakker and smart wool. Not itchy. Looks good amd fits well.

I considered returning this when it arrived, it seemed too big. I thought I wanted yet another close fitting merino base layer. The shirt fits more loosely than expected and I could have exchanged for XS instead of S. But as it turns out, it goes nicely over any number of shirts, it is loose on the sides but not too big in the shoulders. It is long, which helps with warmth and has thumb holes. All in all I love it and wear it especially around the house and while traveling as a warm cozy layer.
