These shorts have so many good things going for them! They're lightweight but durable, breathable, stretchy, comfortable and have lots of pockets! I live in Southern California and it gets hot here in the summer but these shorts make the heat tolerable. I have a 29" waist and 39" hips and the size 6 is perfect - a good fit but still loose enough for comfort. (I also have the Vista Trekking Pants but in a size 4 and because of the stretch they also fit, but much more snugly.)

These shorts are great! They fit my body perfectly, the wide waist band fits well, even without a belt. The pockets stay smooth; do not bunch up. They fold up to almost nothing when packing. I love the 2 zippered pockets on the lower legs as well as the regular pockets off the waistline. I thought I wouldn't like the light weight fabric, but it stays put well, it does not ride or bunch up in the inner legs. They were very comfortable in really hot, humid weather, as well as this recent chillier weather. The length is nice, I plan to use these in a foreign country in the Philippines where it is preferred that women keep their thighs covered- these will fit the bill tastefully. I just cannot say enough good things about these shorts. They are my all time favorites, I am looking forward to taking them on my trip at the end of the month!

My job requires me to teach active pursuits so I am always looking for shorts that are comfortable, light weight, quick drying and have strategic pockets. For years I have been using the comfort trail shorts, love the side pocket on the leg for holding a camera, phone or small notebook, but was looking for something lighter, so I bought these. Using the sizing chart, I purchased the size 12 at first because I like for shorts to be loose. Well, they were HUGE! So I sent them back and ordered the size 10. They fit GREAT! I have worn them hiking in hot, humid weather and for teaching in a hot, humid gym. Each time they have been super comfortable and the pockets hold all the extra stuff I need to have with me. FYI: I am 5'4", 140 pounds and wear from a 8-10 in most LLBean pants. Thinking about ordering another pair once they go on sale.

The fit, style and fabric are perfect. I find myself wearing these at home, for walks, in the garden...just about all time on hot Summer days. A home run!

Love these shorts! They are lightweight, comfortable, look great and have wonderful useful pockets. As other reviewers have said, they do run big, I ordered one size smaller than my usual size and they fit perfect. They stay up, don't slide down even with a cell phone and keys in the pockets. An iPhone 5 in an otterbox case fits perfectly in the pocket and you can still zip it up for security. They seem to have a little " give" in the fabric so that they do not dig into your waist, yet they don't stretch out of shape and bag up. I just ordered another pair. They are the perfect shorts!

Probably my favorite shorts ever. Material drapes nicely and is slimming, as well as comfortably soft. Dries quickly. Pockets lay smoothly flat. Pocket zippers keep things secure. Bought 3 colors. Love them!

I bought these shorts for a Galapagos trip where I will need to travel light & be able to wash out my clothes. These are amazingly thin & light weight, so fast-drying for travel. Yet they are quite rugged and have many handy pockets. I just returned from backpacking in Baxter State Park, and was very happy with the feel & performance of these shorts.

I love these shorts. I got them in granite - a nice dark gray. I wish they came in black too.

These arrived this week and I wore them for three days in a row! They fit great, are extremely lightweight (perfect for summer in the south), and are a slim-looking style. I was worried that the length would be too long, but they were just right for me (average height, long-ish legs). I can't wait to bring these with me through all my adventures - big and small - and I have a feeling I'll be buying another pair soon.

I bought these for an upcoming hiking trip and ended up wearing them for a trip to Niagara Falls as well. They are super comfortable. The waistband is wide and has a soft feel on the inside, no rubbing or digging into my waistline. The material is lightweight and stretchy and dries relatively quickly. I'm 5'4, 133lbs with a pear shape, and the size 6 fit perfectly. Maybe a tad big in the waist, but as long as it fits over my hips, I'm happy. I bought them in gray and loved them so much I bought them in the sage color as well. I really wanted a pair of cargo shorts where I could carry my camera in the pockets, but didn't attempt it with these. Didn't want to look all lumpy. Probably not the best shorts if you want to carry a lot. Money and a lipbalm is all I would put in the pockets. They're comfotable for hiking, but stylish enough to wear into a cafe afterwards.

Great lightweight shorts. One tiny, tad longer than other shorts I normally wear but still very much ok. I got the tan ones and the graphite ones, love the colors. They wash and wear like a snap. You won't be disappointed.

I purchased these shorts in all available colors. They are comfortable, wash well, and have multiple pockets. I was between sizes and I took the smaller size and they fit well as the waistband sits below the natural waistline. I am planning on ordering the long pants version soon!

these shorts were just what I was looking for. somewhat loose, comfortable (I bought a size larger) since I use them while gardening and like to move around freely. They wash and dry like a dream.

These are officially my new favorite summer shorts. Lightweight, super comfortable, great length for every activity. Have worn them around town, on long hikes and just lounging. Plan on ordering more colors. They do run slightly large.

These shorts are absolutely wonderful. Like everyone has said, they do run large, but I've found other LLBean pants/shorts tend to run tight on me, so I bought my usual size and like the fit. I love the lightweight, fast-drying material. They're so cool on hot summer days and very comfortable. I've only had them a couple months, so can't vouch for durability yet, but I do wear them A LOT. I plan to get at least one more pair in a different color (I bought the granite - very versatile color).

I love these shorts. They are great to move in for walks and hiking and quick to dry when wet. They have good pockets for things like cell phone and keys. And they are long enough so that I wear them shopping without feeling overexposed. Not cheap, but the kind of shorts that I live in during the summer and therefore worth it. They seem a bit more generous in size than many LL Bean bottoms. However they don't really look baggy, so I kept my usual size, though if I order another pair, I may try one size smaller.

I love these shorts! Great fit and feel. I would prefer them a couple inches shorter but other than that they are perfect. Great for hiking, kayaking and attractive enough for everyday wear.

I have a pair of these shorts that I bought in summer 2013. I just bought a second pair in another color because I love them so much. The material is a nice silky feel, it dries quickly, and I love the zipper pockets. You won't lose things out of them and they are so handy in the summer. They are even big enough for your cell phone!

I like these shorts because they are so lightweight and just the right length - long but not too long. They are really comfortable and have a slim profile.

These pants are great. They dry fast for kayaking. They are also very comfortable.

These shorts are so comfortable. I purchased 2 pair last year and just recently purchased the new colors.

These shorts are just what I was looking for, something that will dry quickly when going kayaking or doing other sports. Also, I was really happy they came in sizes, not just sm, m, l, xl because i was able to get a pair that fits my big butt. I got two pair because they will be great for walking in the hot, hot months as well as any water related activities.

...The only place I really trek for the most part, is around the house. Well, and to walk the dogs. And for the slightly expensive price, you'd think these wouldn't be worth it. BUT, they are soooo comfortable. Like wearing sweats, but still able to not to look like a slob. They breathe with you, flex with you and I can't wait to buy another color!

After looking for 3 months - I finally found a pair of shorts that fit my oversized tummy and do not look terrible showing every bulge. Very light and stretchy, lots of pockets, and love the 9" inseam. I will be diffidently ordering another pair! Way to go Bean - Many Thanks!!!!!
