I've been wearing the Vista Trekking pants for a few years now and LOVE them. Thought I'd try the shorts...wow, just as comfortable and great fit! So soft, light and breezy feeling. Very comfortable for a light hike/fitness walk, and for casual wear. Love all the zippered pockets. The waistband is the most comfortable of any pants/shorts I've ever owned. I am 5'6", 145 lbs, athletic build and the size 8 fits perfectly (I wear the same size in the pants). Figure-flattering and roomy without being baggy. The only thing I would change is to add an extra inch to the length to be a bit more flattering for middle-aged legs. But I do love them overall. Highly recommend. Bought in three colors.

I purchased both the Comfort Trail Shorts and the Vista Trekking Shorts. Both are very lightweight, wrinkles disappear quickly and the fabrics dry quickly. The fit on both styles is great, too. I have a slight preference for the Vista Trekking Short's waistband; the Comfort Trail Shorts have an elastic and button band to adjust the waist, which I found to be a tad scratchy, hence my preference for the Vista Trekking Shorts. I really appreciate the zippers on both styles, as they allow me to securely carry items without the hassle of bringing a wallet or purse. BIG PLUS, in my opinion!

I really like these shorts. They are lightweight, comfortable, and cool for summer hiking. The length is just right for this 60 year old hiker, and I wear them around town as well.

Love, love, love these shorts! The fit is perfect, very lightweight & comfortable, many pockets, good length hits above the knee. What more can be said. Grab yourself a pair.

I have two pairs of these shorts that I bought in 2016 -- the granite and sandstone colors. Both of those pairs are size 6 and fit me well. I have not gained (or lost) any weight in that time period. This year, LL Bean added classic black to the color lineup (which also includes olive); I'd been hoping these shorts would be offered in black, so I ordered a pair of size 6. Upon arrival, I noticed immediately -- even before trying them on -- that the classic black shorts were smaller than my granite and sandstone pairs. Dismayed, I tried them on and, while I could snap them, they were tight enough that I could not put my hands in the front pockets. I returned them immediately and requested a pair in size 8, which I received promptly. The size 8 shorts measure exactly the same, in every dimension, as both pairs of two-year-old Vista Trekking shorts I already own. I suspect that LL Bean has either switched contract vendors for these shorts or that the sizing has been cut down to save manufacturing costs on the lower end of the size chart (perhaps an economic reaction to the "growth" factor of the American population). In any case, I wanted potential buyers to be aware that the sizing is smaller than it was previously; if you like a comfortable size 6 (with a bit of room), you'll need to go up to a size 8. Otherwise, in all respects, including fabric, workmanship, durability, comfort, utility, ease of wear and ease of care, these are FIVE STAR shorts. There are NO negatives; just be aware that the sizing might not be what you expect. I now await the addition of a navy-blue version ...

I recently purchased these shorts specifically to wear on a Disney vacation. I love that they are so lightweight, comfortable and fit perfectly. I especially appreciate the zipper pockets, as they can hold items securely. I just placed an order today for an additional pair!

These shorts are so versatile. I love that they have zippered cargo pockets so I don't lose stuff. They feel awesome when it's hot outside. I've washed them several times so far, and they look like brand new. I wish I had gotten several pair.

I am 185 pounds and 5'8". Unfortunately, I am an "apple" ....meaning my waist is larger. Since there are no women sizes (meaning 16w) I sized up to an 18 and it fit perfectly. It's difficult to find the nylon/spandex blend pants that are slightly stretchy, cool, and quick drying. These are marvelous. I can see if you have a small waist the comfort trail pants might be a better choice. These are perfect for me! Ordered another pair....

I don't find these shorts to be oversized at all BUT I'm a curvier pear shaped gal and I appreciate the fit. I have them in every color. I get panicky when they sell out and I'm scared they will be discontinued. I work outside in south Florida a lot, and these are all I wear. They are soft, super light and they dry quick.

These shorts are great for active wear. I wear them to our community garden. The waist lining wicks away perspiration. Fabric is light weight, but sturdy. In some LLBean shorts I wear a 16, some a 14. This style is plenty roomy in a 14. The zippered pocket is good for car keys. Machine wash and dry with no problems. I already have all three colors, so I am buying a second pair in granite.

I purchased the granite shorts in size 4. I normally wear a size 6 which is the size I ordered in the vista trekking pants. I found that the size 6 was too baggy overall and big in the waist. After reading the reviews, I ordered a size 4 in the shorts. The result was a perfect fit! When the shorts arrived, I tried them on immediately and fell in love with the great overall fit. The fabric is light and soft, perfect for summer weather. I am petite, 5'2" and found the length to be ideal, about 3-4 inches above the knees. I quickly ordered another pair of shorts in the dusty olive in size 4 and found the size to be consistent. These short wear well. Fantastic quality and details. I wish they were offered in more colors!

I have the grey and olive color shorts. Both a size 8, and they fit comfortably not too loose or too snug. They are long enough to walk and hike without ride up and light weight enough to be fairly sturdy but airy on hot, humid days in the woods. I can wear them with or without a belt. That said, if you use a belt it needs to be a lighter weight belt, my leather one (that I use for everything) is too heavy for the lightweight material. I do wish there were more colors.

These shorts are lightweight and have four zippered pockets, which are great for traveling, kayaking, etc. I really like the higher rise in these shorts -- the description of the fit says "sits lower on the waist" but I haven't tried on a pair of shorts with a waist this high in years. I just ordered a second pair and a skort in the same design.

Well-made, comfortable shorts run true to LLBean's size chart and the fabric is light-weight but sturdy. I'm back to buy a second pair. There should be more colors.

I love the vista skorts, so I wanted to try the shorts for golf. They're perfect, lots of pockets, lightweight, cover everything that should be covered. They fit better than the tropicwear shorts and I think they're more fashionable.

I love these shorts. I only wish they would come in a variety of colors. I already have all the colors, I think I have two of the black ones and at one time their was a teal color that was available, I also have those.

I bought two pairs of the Vista Trekking shorts to wear for a three-week trip to a tropical location. They ended up being my favorite shorts of the trip. They were lightweight and stayed comfortable through even the steamiest weather. The zippered pockets helped keep items secure when I was walking. They washed up well and dried quickly. Best of all, they looked great! I would definitely buy these again.

This is my third pair of these shorts. I wear them for walking all the time. They are light and have lots of useful pockets. They can be machine-washed ... and even dried on low, but I hang 'em up to dry.

I have a pair in a larger size. They are comfortable but fit a little loose. So I purchased a smaller size and they fit much better. Love all the pockets. The color is true.

Perfect length, light weight, good colors, wish they had more colors. Fabric can catch if your not careful. So comfortable.

First I ordered a size six (my normal size) but they were too big so I ordered a 4 that fit. The quick dry fabric with some elastic give in it is great. the zip pocket is large enough to fit my iPhone 6+. They are the most comfortable shorts ever. I am going to buy another pair.

Bought these shorts because I already have a pair in a dark grey color and I was living in them. They are the most functional, travel friendly packable shorts I've ever had. I liked them because they are longer than a lot of shorts so more appropriate for traveling.

These are my favorite shorts. I live in SWFlorida near water, sun and sand. These shorts are perfect for my climate. They are comfortable, dry fast and look great. I own every color!
