I bought this for myself but gave it to my husband since he didn't bring a hat. He has declared it the perfect hat. I love that it is washable because it gets dusty and sweaty (it is breathable, but the head naturally sweats) so I can toss it in on gentle wash cycle and let it air dry to get the sweat out.

I read many reviews on the LLBean website, and took a chance on purchasing this as a sun hat. I'm not usually around bugs, so I can't comment on that. I was going to need a size medium whether the size ran small or not. I do think the hat runs a bit smaller than sized. I also expected the brim to be unacceptably floppy. It was not at all floppy. The fit is very comfortable. The slide on the strap is easy to use and, when tightened, feels quite secure. I've had the had blow off my head (when the strap was not tightened), but the strap kept it from blowing away. The brim shades my face and neck completely. There is no noticeable odor, and I have a very good sense of smell. I am very glad I took a chance on this shade hat, and I am particularly delighted that the brim is not floppy and the odor is not a concern. I will try it in the woods some time, and feel comfortable that the area around my head will indeed be a 'no fly zone.'

This hat is light and fits just right. The ties are adjustable and comfortable.

I wear this every morning when I walk my dogs in the country. Keeps the gnats away from my head and face. It's a relief to have protection from ticks as well. I will wear it to pick beans in the garden all summer as well. It shades my ears and neck as well as my face. Love it.

I love this hat. I wear it outside for doing yard work and it keeps the sun and the bugs away from my face. I agree that the brim is floppy but I actually like that since it seems to shade my face even more. When the wind blows, it does sometimes blow the brim up but it comes right back down and the drawcord works well to keep the hat on my head. It also seems to be cooler to wear than the hats that I had previously worn. Best of all, it is machine washable and dryable. For me, it is the perfect working in the garden hat.

I normally hate wearing hats because I have a small head and all hats are too big. Finally I was able to order a hat in my size and it fit perfectly! I wasn't bothered by bugs either

It's a very nice, lightweight hat and I think it will be great in the summer. It runs a little small - I have a small head so I ordered small but had to exchange it for the medium (and even it isn't roomy but it's fine).

Worth the wait! I love it; fits great. It's going to the beach with me, on a hike or two; love that it folds up and pops right back into shape.

I wore this hat during a day hike in the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The "Porkies" are known for an abundance of mosquitoes, and this hat performed well keeping them at bay. Also very comfortable.

Great foldable hat that dries quickly and fits everywhere. Used for canoe trip so the tie was critical for Maine winds. And it did keep bugs away when using with a net during high insect season in Maine.
