Certain wear points have given me a sore about the size of a dime on the back of my heel. Also sore points on tiny bunions I didn't know I had. Nicely built shoes tho. Just next time I'll get ones with softer insides.

Just wore them for the first time. Great look and initial comfort but after awhile there were some irritating spots (no socks) so we will have to see if those go away with wear.

My husband consistently wears a size 10.5 medium width shoe. While these shoes are beautiful leather and beautifully made, they were way too large for him and we sadly had to return them.

Replaced my 1985 Bean moccasins with a new pair. They'll probably outlast me. With addition of a pair of orthotics for my flat feet, they're the most comfortable slipons I own. Happy feet.
My only regret is that the shoes do not come in an E width. That would earn the extra star.

I've come to prefer LL Bean over Sperry for boat shoes. I have another pair that has worn extremely well.
These shoes in general don't disappoint, they're clearly well made, very comfortable right out of the box, and true to size, and look great.
My only complaint is a bit weird... but I've noticed they are very hot on hot days (plenty of those lately). Like my feet get uncomfortably warm, which is not a problem with any other shoe I've worn in recent memory. Doesn't stop me from wearing them, but it's quite noticeable. Just FYI.

Nice shoes, not as comfortable as his last pair which were well worn out.

I bought these shoes for my husband, who likes to have slip on, closed toed shoes that he can wear without socks for the summer. I ordered a 14W and they fit him perfectly. He had a little rubbing on his heel at first, but that is normal for him with boat shoes. They are very attractive and nice enough to wear to work with semi-professional dress. His only complaint is that the soles are a little thin and that they are not comfortable for longer walks. We did see that LLBean has another style of boat shoe with thicker treads and that some of the reviews highlighted the thinner soles on these shoes, so this isn't as much of a complaint as an acknowledgement that these shoes are best for short walks, work, driving, and probably actually boating! However, he also found the soles a little slippery, which is why I'm only rating them four stars. No matter how thin the sole, you'd expect actual boat shoes to have enough tread to be stable on the deck of a wet boat, let alone walking around Brooklyn. Still, I would absolutely recommend these and could see buying them again.

These are really nice shoes. They fit well and are good looking. My only knock is the soles are quite thin. They are fine for indoors or smooth surfaces outdoors. If the surface is uneven, like gravel, you feel what's there. This was alluded to by the sales clerk with whom I talked, but I couldn't test them because they weren't in stock. I'm still happy with them.

I have both colors of this shoe. The light brown pair has seen more use since I feel its tone is better for summertime, which is when I wear boat shoes. The light brown lasted just over a year before the sole broke open along the siping on each shoe. The darker color has lasted longer due to less frequent wear. Style and comfort are great, and I like that the LL Bean name is on the tongue under the laces, so it is not in your face. I will get another pair this spring to replace my broken pair.

I have worn Sperry Top-Siders for over 50 years. As noted in other reviews, the Casco Bay has a seam in the tongue. This made the shoes uncomfortable for me, especially on my left foot. I have returned them. If you have a high instep, this may be an issue for you. I certainly would have kept the shoes if they had fit comfortably. LL Bean Customer Service was commendable.

I like the shoes overall. However I find the sole to be rather hard. I plan to get insoles to provide some cushioning.

This is the second pair of these I've bought, and the main reason is the sewn in leather insole. My feet sweat, and the sewn in leather insole provides two things: first, it doesn't slip out when I take these shoes off, like many other shoes in this style, and second, they don't retain odor, which is real nice.I wish the arch was a little higher, but that's personal preference. The only caveat I have is that on one shoe, there was something on the top of the back of the shoe that irritated my Achilles', though after several wearings, it's fine. Great shoe for a great price.

These look good and are made from nice leather. I'm still breaking them in. I have a narrow foot, and they loosened up quickly after the first few wearings. I'm still trying to get a more snug fit by tightening the leather laces.

I spent summers in South Freeport for decades in the boat houses next to the yacht club and always wore boat shoes. It's been years since I've owned a pair and forgot how they fit and felt. These seemed pretty loose at first, but I've added a pair of orthotic inner soles and now really loving them. I employ inner soles in most shoes, so it's not a shortcoming of these boat shoes.

The shoe looks and feels great except it narrows at the front so my large toe rubs against the leather. LL Bean does mention this in their literature. The shoe "conforms" with time so I'm putting some miles on them before I make a final decision.

I wear a B width, too bad, you and others don't make such. I had to buy an insert be keep the shoe on my foot.
Otherwise I love the shoe.

For everyday wear there was not enough cushion for the ball of me feet. By the end of a normal day my feet definitely hurt. Solution was to pull out the shoe supports, which supported the heal and arch of my foot, and insert Ariat foot supports. The result is a comfortable shoe. A little tight until they get more wear and stretch a little bit but a great shoe.

I need a wide which I bought. The front was fine, the heel was way too loose. Too bad, nice product as usual.

I have to get some heel infills or an insole filler because of my foot size and the shoe dimensions. Then they will be great

He likes the "looks" of them, but uncertain of the fit at this time....I bought them as a Christmas gift for when we go to FL in February.
(I think they're very 'smart' and 'stylish'...and hope he'll wear without socks as they are intended to be!)

pleased with appearance, but haven't had time to see how they will compare to my last pair -- which i've had for close to twenty years and i hate to see them go! hope these will be so long lasting!

Bought this pair of Bay Boat shoes for my husband's birthday gift. They looks good for smart casual wearing at work and also are in good quality.
