I purchased these shoes after a very slippery 100k in the Whites of NH in Timps. The grip on the Olympus is far better, and they've endured 100's of training miles for an upcoming 100 miler. Love.

I use them for work, and constantly being on my feet. They never hurt my feet, even breaking them in.

I have had a really hard time half my life finding a fit for my pitting edema feet , they are flat and wide and swell and often the footbeds in shoes are really narrow and make my feet cramp up so bad I can hardly walk . With these shoes I've found freedom , I can walk in them all day in confidence! I will always own a pair or two . My knees and hips are also in agreement that these are wonderful. They have held up well and are comfortable. I typically wear a 10 but the 11 seems to be my perfect size in these somehow - don't skip out in measuring when choosing your size . I would over and over recommend these to anyone with my issue . I've just run a 5 k in them with no issues at all and I'm beyond happy with this purchase and the variety of colors they come in . I get compliments all the time on these , it's the hidden gem of the shoe world . Is every shoe right for everyone - not at all , I'm proof with the limited selection- but I do feel for anyone with wide feet that like or require a larger foot box and comfortable shoe , to try them . I am not paid or bribed or sponsored or reviewing a free product - this is my honest review off my own experience in hopes to help someone else . Thank you altra !!

These shoes are PERFECT! Please don't change a thing! I LOVE them! Just right width, just right cushioning, just right fit. I could wear these all day, everyday; for training, for everyday wear. Even the color! PERFECT! I almost never give a 5 star review, but these exceeded my expectations, and I would buy them again and again and again.

These shoes are great. I have a bunion, so the original gives me the toe room I need. I walked the Camino Santiago in the lone peaks, and thought I'd never find a shoe I like better until I gave these higher Olympus a try. It took about 5miles to get use to the difference in height, but immediately found these to be more durable. The red color is fabulous too.

Love them, second pair of Olympus, good improvement on heal lift from Oly-4. Only suggestion is to make more all black available and longer shoestrings.

The purple color isn’t quite as bright as I hoped, a bit more pastel. However, I love how they make my feet look small, and they feel good upon first try on! I’m keeping.

I tried these on in REI, so I knew how comfortable they would be, they didn't carry the correct color for my climate. I usually have to order a wide, but even with an orthotic added, the toe box is wide enough. I love the extra cushion, and with the rocky terrain I walk in, they are very stable.

These shoes are fantastic. I love the wide toe box, the amount of cushion is great. I have very fussy feet and these are by far the best shoes I've tried.

I'm not a runner, but walk a lot and have somewhat arthritic wide toes. On my second pair. They are the perfect shoes for my feet. Kept me going for nonstop walking on 3 week vacation.

The heel cushion is fantastic! There's more padding on the back of the shoe than what I'm used to. I could have gone with a half size bigger (just cuz my one foot is bigger) and still be a good fit.

Ive had bunion surgery on my big toe and a tailors bunion on the same foot -these shoe are the only thing that dont hurt!!! So far I am a convert! I hate the color (black) but in canada all i can find is black -it is worth the comfort for the lack of color. I have been a Hoka only for years -but these are my new go to.

Women's Olympus 5 Review: I'm in my 50's and need comfortable & supportive shoes that work with fairly severe bunions. I've tried other supportive shoes with a wider toe box (NB, Brooks, Bogs, Blundstones, Keen...). These Altra's are my go-to favorites for everything (I'm on my 3rd pair). I'm active & walk quite a bit daily, so they get a lot of use. They are durable, sturdy, supportive, fit very well & provide a wide enough/flexible enough toe box for bunions. (I have not had an issue with the tongue or sole as mentioned by another reviewer.) Love these shoes!

I prefer the Olympus to the Lone Peaks, which irritated my heel a lot. Once I got this shoe dialed in, it was everything I needed it to be for long training runs on trail. I originally sized up half a size, but ultimately need a full size larger to avoid the tip of my big toe hitting the end. Only real complain I have is that while I love the wide foot box (I have bunions), it is difficult to really cinch down the laces to ensure a snug fit along the arch of my foot. I feel like a Victorian lady trying to corset my foot in every time I put these on, but I still wind up sliding around a bit especially if doing a lot of downhill running. Small inconvenience for what is still the best trail shoe I've worn so far!

If you have a wide toe box and a narrow heel, these are the shoes for you! My toes can actually flex. I never knew that was possible in tennis shoes. I wouldn’t recommend these shoes for a narrow foot. However if you have a medium or a wide foot, you will find these shoes amazingly comfortable.

Took the Olympus 5 out for a hike yesterday and it felt amazing. The high cushion and grippy outsole made it feel super comfortable yet stable. I'm looking forward to taking it for some trail runs!

When I need more cushion on trail than my Lone Peaks, the Olympus is what I turn to! I love how grippy it is in wetter terrain, and how roomy the toe box is with the Original Footshape!

I love using the olympus to hike in. I love the cushion for longer and rockier trails. The vibram outsole performs very well on any type of terrain especially in the snow.

Same great underfoot feel as the Olympus 4, with a plusher, updated upper! Love this shoe for hiking - cushioned enough that I don't feel the rocks and roots, but light and flexible enough to wear all day. If you liked the Olympus 4, you'll continue to be happy here!

I wore the Olypus 4 last spring when I walked the Portuguese Camino from Porto to Santiago, we walked 226 miles (averaging 15 miles per day) in all types of terrain. I bought them in January 2022, trained in them (averaged 50+ miles per week) then wore them on the the Camino. These shoes did not disappoint and held up the whole trip, I'm still wearing them in spite of my big toe finally trying to poke through the upper mesh. I bought the Olympus 5 last month, I absolutely love them, especially the new heel tab. The Vibram soles on these shoes are wonderful. I will be walking the French Camino (about 475 miles) in May 2023, have never stopped training after returning from last years Camino, with thanks to these great shoes. Oh yes, I'm 79 (F) not sure if any other shoe out there would have enabled me to walk as much as I do thanks to the structure of these shoes and the cushiony sole and the high and wide toe box. I will be purchasing a 2nd pair of the Olympus 5. Thank you Altra!!
