Just completed my first trail race of the season in the Olympus 5 and was very impressed! I normally wear the Lone Peak but wanted some more cushion for longer runs and these delivered. My feet feel amazing- zero pain. I am obsessed with the orange color and get so many compliments on them. Size-wise- I'm usually a 9 in running shoes but both of my Altra's I size up to 9.5. I have a narrorwer foot but the width was great. I think these are going to be my new go-to!

I recently had a total knee replacement. Used to be a hoka lover but after knee surgery I really felt like I needed something more "balanced" feeling. These shoes are perfect. 4 months out and back to hiking because of how solid yet cushy they feel.

I love the room in this shoe. I feel confident, protected from the ground and very stable in this shoe - love it for heading to the mountains and my dog walks. It fits like my Lone Peak in my toes, but has a nice secure foot feel with boosted height and cushion. And I love that it is cushion for protection, but not overly soft.

Daughter picked these out for Christmas. She's a Vet tech for a busy vet clinic and on her feet all day and says these are the most comfortable shoes she's ever had.

Trail running and long distance backpacking, I buy a 1/2 size bigger because long miles and rocky trails require extra room.

I have struggled my whole life to find comfortable, wide enough shoes that dont squish my toes or hurt my knees and feet. These are perfect!!!!! My new brand for life!!!

Bought Olympus 5 last summer and found instant relief with 7 1/2, which is a half size larger than usual because my left foot swells a bit sometimes, causing pressure then pain. Even after wearing them all day, for the first time since developing arthritis under left big toe joint, my feet didn't hurt while trying to sleep at night. Because I live in an area that endures 6 months of cold winter, when the chill sets in I wear heavy woolen socks which necessitated another half size larger than summer shoes. Once again, wonderful pain-free relief! I did try some of Altra's more heavily constructed styles (which I returned) but found the Olympus 5 to give the most comfortable flexibility for my particular foot problem. Wish I could find that same comfort in a water/weather-proof high boot!

Love the shoes but beware of color selection wording. my wife wanted the ones that are actually white with light blue laces and sole. I phoned in the order since i had to return for a smaller size. Got the white/ light blue ones in. they have absolutely no regular blue on them except the dark navy almost black emblem. like i said, shoe feels and fits great but wrong color. she already has this color. since i had to return them for smaller size i don't really want to bother them with another return. probably wouldn't of been a problem if ordering from website. if your wife tells you the white with light blue which one of these would pick as them? surely not the ones with the red soles.

Most comfortable. Like the wide platform. It is a little wide at only my right heel but I just use last hole to thread the string & it tightens the fit

This is probably my 10th pair this year. I have all the colors. I love these shoes and I thank my podiatrist for advising me to get them.

Recently experiencing a hammertoe and Metatarsalgia. Need a wide and roomy toe box and these are so comfortable. Wearing to Switzerland for winter hiking/walking-i think they they'll be perfect. I already have a pair of the Via Olympus and the are great too!

The selling factor for me is the wide toe box. And I love the fact that it would be difficult to turn and ankle with this heel shape. I have already ordered a second pair.

I just ran a 50k in these, no rubbing or blisters. Good grip. Probably my favourite trail runners yet.

Love the Vibram outsole and the extra cushioning. I've had 5 pairs of the Lone Peak hiker/trail runner and you can feel every stone through the footbed. Not these. I have high hopes that this Vibram sole will hold up better too as the Lone Peaks always come unglued at the toe cap. My only complaint would be that they seem to collect gravel in the heels and ankles but that's easily fixed with higher socks. So comfortable I wore them on a 10 mile hike from Breckenridge to Frisco right out of the box. Love them and hope Altra keeps making hikers with Vibram outsole.
I'd also recommend:

I just ordered my second pair of the Olympus 5. I run in the mountains of Western North Carolina, mostly on gravel roads or trail that are either going up or going down. With that I have had trouble finding a shoe that holds up. This shoe does just that and then some. Yes it might feel like "a lot of shoe" but if you are looking for something to put those training miles in this is it. I'm only just now starting to see tiny signs of wear on the upper and the vibram base still gives me plenty of grip. I also find this shoe gets more comfortable the more you wear it. My only small complaint is the shoe laces are very short and hard to use for a heel lock plus double knot, but that's an easy fix.

Altra's signature zero drop, foot shaped design has kept me injury free. These shoes are the best trail runners yet. Cozy, Grippy + GREAT colors and zero "break in" time. No regrets. HIGHLY recommend!

They're too wide but I knew that before I bought them and they're still comfortable. I love the wide toe box, however, as it accommodates my bunions.
