Most reviews state that this nightgown fits true to size. I disagree. 5'4", 150 lbs, ordered regular medium and it was absolutely huge. Swimming in it. Sleeves were six inches past my wrist. Huge, billowy and way too much fabric. I think it was mis-labeled as a medium when in fact it has to be a large or XL. Sadly I waited almost two months to receive due to backorder, and inventory is so low that I can't reorder a size small to anything in petite to see if it fits better.

Way to big even at petite small. And the color is not attractive. Would have returned it but forgot about it in the holiday rush. Will donate it after the winter.

Please bring back fabric patterns so there's a selection other than plaid. I have 2 sort-of nordic patterns (one red, one blue) and an older paisley (red). They've been washed and worn so much that they're wearing thin. Last year, I bought a different brand because it has pockets but I still prefer my old LLBeans. I'd like to buy another, but not plaid! Please!!!

The only thing I liked about this nightgown was the color and the pattern. However, I was disappointed with the quality of this item overall. I do not find it warm, although I did order the correct size (small) for my body (5'6 1/2", 112 lbs.). I should have read the description more carefully, because I did not note that it has two pockets, one on each hip. They end up as crumbled/wrinkled balls after washing and drying. I will not be purchasing additional items of this sort from this vendor.

I bought 3 of these more than a month ago and they are so itchy they're unwearable! I've washed and done every fabric softener known to man and they just don't soften up like the ones I bought years ago.

In years past, I have purchased the previous style LLBean nightgowns. At that time, they were made of a different material with more of a Prairie or Nordic look. I loved them so much, I bought several! I have seen these scotch plaid gowns for awhile now and have been afraid to try them after others said that the material was not the same. I was so disappointed when I finally decided to spend the money and give it a try. The material is not even close to the softness that the nightgowns used to be. I have very sensitive skin so this was not going to work. I also really dislike the plaid and also the pockets. As another reviewer said - the pockets just ball up on the sides of your hips. I really appreciate being able to send this back for a refund because there is no way I was going to wear this nightgown.

Two years ago I purchased two of the Women's Scotch Plaid Flannel Nightgowns. I was very happy with the soft warmness of the material. However, this year a rip appeared in the elbow of first one gown and then the next. I attempted to repair the tear with my sewing machine. That fix did not last. So, I cut that part off and secured the ends with my sewing machine. This month, a rip appeared in the back of the gown. Apparently, there is a two-year expiration date for these gowns.

I have had 4 of these flannel nightgowns for one month. I haven't worn them half of that time because a late warm spell in the weather. So in about 15 days, and two or three washes on gentle cool and hanging to dry, these are already getting saggy, pilly, and uncomfortable. The button holes are also getting saggy so the buttons unbutton randomly. 1 star means poor according to Bean's system, and 2 fair, so I guess I have to go with 1 since I do not recommend these at all! Their flannel sheets and tunics are fabulous though. The flannel nightgowns, skip. I have never used their return policy for used items, but I may with terrible nightgowns.

We're heading into winter and it's cooler in the house. The point of flannel clothing is to keep warm. So why does my neck have to be cold? For almost $90 I'm not going to deal with that. I really miss your old style with the collar, which was perfect. Please bring back. back.

LL Bean used to sell high quality long sleeve non-binding flannel, and also Supina cotton. It no longer has that quality. High necks hurt as in this nightgown. The color options are awful. Who wants to sleep in plaid? I certainly do not. And the color runs!

I will not be purchasing from LLBean again. I can see why they do not offer life time guarantee any longer.. The quality of the flannel is terrible now, very cheap. In the past the flannel was excellent quality and lasted for year's! This nightgown was purchased in 2023 in December for Christmas. My sister only wears it for 3 months in the winter, not year round and it is taring on the sleeve, She noticed it in February 2025 and the guarantee is off it! It is always laundered correctly. I will purchase from Vermont Flannel from now on for excellent quality Flannel and around the same prices with better sales.

I first started buying the flannel gown back in the 80's. High quality flannel lasted many many washes. This one I hope to return. First wash: baseball size lint ball in the dryer. Lots more in second wash. They used to use long staple cotton. Obviously this is not long staple. The high price does not match the low quality. Bean used to be reliably quality goods. Not true any longer.

We have bought these for 20 years or more and they were great. Now the flannel is skimpy and thin - nothing like before. I wear a petite large and it fit like a tent. I'm disappointed with LLB.

I have been buying LLBean flannel sleepwear for decades. These nightgowns shed all over the house and when you wash them (no matter how carefully) they become very thin and provide no warmth whatsoever. So your choice is thick, warm, shedding and unwashed or clean, stopped shedding and paper thin. Sad part is I have several older pieces that have retained the thickness in the flannel for years so somewhere along the way LLBean started buy cheaper flannel.

The fabric in this gown is as thin as that in my old flannel gown, which become thin after many years' wear and which I'd hoped to replace. I sent this one back the next day. The size recommendation was way off; it hung to my feet and covered my hands.

I waited a long time to purchase this nightgown, due to it's cost, and was so looking forward to wearing it. I washed it, and dried it using wool dryer balls like I do for all my clothing. Little dots of flannel stuck all over it and some came off onto the other clothes I was drying along with it. I decided to wash and dry it again to see if it was a one-time new-item occurrence. I'm sorry to say it happened again. It fit nicely, and the fabric is so soft, but I can't keep having it come off onto my other clothes.

For years I've purchased the Dobby Flannel Nightgown, it was perfect. I say "was" because it has now become unavailable and replaced with this Scotch Plaid Flannel nightgown. I purchased several after speaking with the rep about whether or not it was the same as the Dobby and was assured that it was exactly the same. You can imagine my disappointment when I discovered that it's nothing like the Dobby. It has pockets which are just in the way, they serve no purpose and after washing they curl into a clump and unless it's ironed there's no way to unclump the pocket. The fabric is the typical flannel that you can get anywhere and for a lot less cost. The sizing was off also, this was much smaller than my usual size, it was quite skimpy.

Recently, my wife had to replace her 9 year old L L Bean Scotch Plaid nightgown. It was in fine shape, but was packed in lost luggage. She ordered this item, thinking that it would be identical to her old one (same description). Unfortunately, the material is much thinner and the assembly is not as good (pattern does not match where the sleeves attach to the body). Very disappointed, but keeping it for practical reasons.

These used to be high quality. I have 1 from 10 yrs ago or longer, that still looks great. The 1 I bought around 2-3 yrs ago is pilling? The fabric is lighter, not the same. Not worth the price!

Prior to wearing it, I washed this flannel nightgown in cold water on delicate cycle and hung it to dry. The flannel fabric started to "shed" and fall apart. I was very disappointed because I have ordered and worn several LL Bean flannel nightgowns over the years. They were all very well made with quality fabric that held up well. This recent nightgown is a fail.

The more I wash these gowns the more they pill! So scratchy and itchy. I've even tried using a "fabric shaver". I get piles of the pulling off but not all of it and with the next wash the fabric pills even more. Sadly I've purchased gowns from llbean for years and my old ones finally wore out now I'm stuck with the newer ones without the collar, the pockets and the lousy fabric.

This flannel gown was as soft as a cloud until I washed it according to directions on the tag;warm wash, low dry. I couldn't believe all that softness was gone and scratchy flannel in its place. I got two different styles so has to be the material!! Talk about bait and switch!!

Unfortunately I had to return this item. It was very tight under the arms and, thus, incredibly uncomfortable. I was very surprised as I had, in the past, bought the "Vintage" nightgowns over and over again. I found those nightgowns to be very comfortable as well as attractive. I wish LL Bean would make those again.
