I bought 2 of these night gowns. I figured coming from LL Bean and being on sale it was a great deal. I had no idea the flannel fabric could be so thin. I should of reviewed alot of the reviews. The less than 4 stars are right. I sent them back the next day and surprise... They charge you for the return cost. Do not buy these.

Great fabric, however the fit was so unflattering: an A-line tent-looking style w/huge sidepockets which made me look 50lbs heavier than I am! Very disappointing cut and style. I bought 2, definitely sending both back:(

The fabric after washing twice feels rough on my skin and the fabric continues to shed little balls of thread and fuzz.

I have purchased LLBean flannel nightgowns for years. Frankly the oldest ones are far more comfortable than this year's version. The flannel gets rough after laundering! Also, while the pockets might be useful for some, I found them uncomfortable to sleep on. I use the pockets in LLB robes and don't need them in a nightgown. Please bring back the vintage dobby gown!! I depend on your styles and quality, but this one disappointed me.

The nightgown was pilling and shed even after several washings. It covered my sheets and bathrobe. This garment cost me $60 and I bought 2 so I'm disappointed in this purchase.

A disappointment. Like a lot of other ll bean products (e.g. turtlenecks) this nightgown is made of cheaper, thinner, linty flannel. The cut is not as full.

I have been an llbean customer for decades and have purchased this nightgown many times over the years. My most recent purchase was the Stewart Victoria and my first purchase since the style and fabric changes. I prefer the collar over the collarless and no pockets over the pocketed style. The pockets bunch up and are uncomfortable and the collar is more comforting than the collarless. As for the fabric, the product description says that the fabric has been upgraded to the finest Portuguese flannel. That surprises me. The fabric pills and is overall not nearly as soft and cozy as my older Scotch Plaid flannel nightgowns. My older nightgowns never pilled. Please, please go back to the former style and fabric.

the body itself was fine, but the arms and sleeves were cut narrow. I returned and went back to another known brand I have purchased in the past which is cut fuller and much roomier. disappointed

It's comfortable, like that it has pockets. Even after several washes it still leaves fuzzies all over. Size small is to short.
Have a red one size M, a bit baggie but long enough. Same issue with fuzzies. Wash them totally separate of anything.

REDUCED QUALITY - TOO THIN. I have been purchasing the Plaid Flannel Nightgowns for many years & look forward to refreshing my stock every year. I was shocked at the reduced quality of these nightgowns. Totally different fabric & fit. Flannel is suppose to be cozy, not thin & there is way too much excess fabric. PLEASE bring back the old faithfuls - they were perfect !! I purchased 5 which I will be returning - Not worth $60 at all - which I never minded before.

I have purchased this same nightgown from LL Bean in previous years, and it's always been of great quality. The fabric in this one was not as good as in previous years (thinner), the workmanship was not as good, and the fit was different. I purchased the exact same size as last time, and this one ran quite large.

I have purchased numerous flannel nightgowns from LL Bean over the years but this one is paper THIN. Big disappointment, especially considering the price!

I bought the red. Washed before wearing with my linens. I was worried about the color bleeding. It did not bleed color, but what it did was shed red lint all over everything. I had to spend 3 sessions rolling my nightgowns and sheets with sticking paper to remove the layers of red lint. If I had known how much lint was going to come off this gown, I would have hesitated to buy it. Don't know if I will keep. I'm afraid to wash it again.

I gave it two stars just because it's hard to find flannel gowns, but the fabric is poor. I washed and dried it before wearing it and the next morning my undergarments were covered in fuzz from the gown. I could see little bits of lint falling off the gown onto the floor and even into the sink while I brushed my teeth. It makes me feel icky to wear a gown that is shedding like this. I'm keeping it though because I really want a flannel gown and I hope that a few more washes will help with the fuzz. It is too expensive of an item though to be made with such poor fabric.

If the fabric used gets any thinner, they will have to advertise them as tropical weight flannel - not a feature one appreciates in a flannel nightgown.

It was not what I expected. It was very bulky - fit in the shoulders but not close to the body - more like a bathrobe than a nightgown.
I have returned it and asked for a nightshirt - which is not really what I wanted since it is not long but need something with long sleeves for the winter.

I ordered an XS and it was HUGE. Like wearing a tent.
Also, the fabric was stiff and I did not like the cuffs. Returned it.
Flannel needs to be softer and there needs to be an XXS.

Having worn the pintucked dobby Vintage nightgowns for years it was pleasing to see what I thought were similarly designed nightgowns in plaid flannel. What I was not expecting were the pockets. As the flannel is soft and warm the gown is generally comfortable. However, the pockets bunch up after washing and feel like wads of fabric on the side seams. A few times I've stuck my hands in the pockets because they are there, but I do not need pockets in a nightgown and I certainly do not need or want pockets that get bunchy and waddy with washing. I suspect ironing the pockets could help reduce the annoyance, but that is not going to happen.

I own three of the previous design of this item. They have held up wonderfully over the years and stood the test of time and constant use.
I am very disappointed with my latest purchase.
The fabric is so much thinner and less warm. I don't mind the design changes(re: no collar, no trim, etc). However the quality is a real bummer. But .. there are now pockets so... yay?

I have been buying this item for several years, and I love the four I have. HOWEVER, the design has been changed since I bought those and I did NOT know it. I just ordered another and do not like it at all. It has no collar, something I was grateful for in the old design because it kept my neck warm. It is also so long it drags the ground, unlike my other ones. And the cuffs are so wide, they do not keep my wrists and forearms warm. It seems thinner and not so warm as well. All in all, the new design destroyed my favorite and warmest winter sleepwear. It is really a shame.

I'm sorry to say that when I received my annual order of Tartan Flannel Nightgowns, I was stunned! I just expected the items to be the usual superb style and fabric that I had enjoyed for over 20 years!
When they arrived, my favorite Tartan flannel nightgown had morphed into a MONSTER! No collar, no yoke, no cording as trim! What happened? In their place was just a couple of bulky pockets!
PLEASE, LL Bean! Realize the error of your sleepwear designers, who just decided that the 2017 Fall and Winter season was the time to change the entire concept of warm, cozy, and comfortable; thus, the current disappointing Tartan flannel nightgown! Please go back to the original design that your customers have depended on for decades!
I tried 2 "Vintage" flannel gowns but can not wear them - they are too bulky, so I am returning them and will anxiously await the return of our much loved Tartan flannel nightgowns, with the smaller Tartan patterns, cozy collar, front and back yoke, and soft gathers instead of those bulky tucks!
Thanks LL Bean, for letting me vent!

I have been buying and loving the vintage nightgown for YEARS. When I saw the style change on the Scotch plaid gowns, I assumed they would have the same fit as the vintage. I was so wrong. The Scotch plaid is 4" smaller across the bust and 6" smaller across the hips. If you want a roomy fit, order a size or more up. Sadly, I had to send it back. Thank you LL Bean for your generous return policy. And I agree with another reviewer - do you really need pockets on a nightgown? They seemed to make the fit even tighter.

Because of the reputation that I always felt L.L. Bean had, and because the fabric of the flannel nightgown was from Portugal, I was expecting a nightgown with the nice thick flannel of my childhood. Alas, outside of the fact that the fabric was all cotton, it was equivalent to what I would have been able to purchase at discount department stores for one fifth the pricet. The purchase will cause me to think hard and long before buying anything from L.L. Bean.

Three years ago I bought one of these and liked it so much I bought another last summer to prepare for winter.. The second one was too short (I am not tall) and the fabric thin. Not much better than the cheap kind, very thin. Bean's should not be proud of this offering for it is not worth the money.
