That it does not have an interior space divider or an interior zippered pocket. Also, outside water bottle pocket should be deeper so taller bottle cannot fall out.

Great quality but the backpack straps are really stiff. My daughter says they rub and are not comfy. I hope they break in.

This is a great classic backpack but unfortunately it has not evolved to include a laptop pouch. I didn't think it would make a big difference until my son tried out his school items in it and you could see the weight shifting from the weight of the computer. Please update with the laptop sleeve!

The shoulder straps are very stiff. Hard for my grandson to keep it on his shoulders.

My 7 yr old (2nd grade) used this book bag for 6 weeks & the zipper broke. He's not one to be too rough on his belongings, either. I bought this bag with the expectation that it would hold up for SEVERAL school years, not just a few weeks. Disappointed.

Book bag seems nice and good quality, i was mostly disappointed in the monogram size. Her name has 7 letters and it is less than half inch in size, so barely noticable was a waste of money for the monogram. I seen someone else post their childs on facebook he had 4 letters and his font was huge and noticeable. With their being plenty of room in thay area to put a full name it should have been much bigger.

This backpack was in back order. We used it for about two months, and the seams on the pocket to hold the water bottle came apart. Very disappointed because this did not even last a year. I bought another one with the Hibiscus flowers for her twin sister. That one is holding up really well. Both girls are in second grade. Reconsidering if I will order this again next year.

This bag was purchased for my 6 year old. She picked out the color and we had it monogrammed. It's cute, but it is so cheaply made. The straps are super stiff and scratchy on your neck. The material is a single layer of plasticy material. Even the base of the bag is a single layer of material. There is no chest clip, and only one side pouch for water bottles. In comparison I also bought my husband a new duffel bag from LL Bean, it is fully lined, soft sturdy material, much higher quality than this backpack. This is her third day using the backpack and she won't stop talking about how the straps bother her. I went back and looked at the other reviews, it looks like no one who writes the reviews are the actual users of the bag, but the parents or grandparents just commenting on how cute it is.

I bought this backpack in Aug 2022 for my daughter. I typically buy a backpack every 2-3 years, so I buy what I think to be higher quality items so they will last. After one year of use the zipper on the smaller pocket began to pull away and eventually broke. I am disappointed that this happened with an L.L. bean backpack.

Not at all the quality I've come to expect from LL Bean. I've probably purchased six backpacks over the years and this will be my last. Skip the monogramming. Horrible quality. Messy and cheap looking and tiny. Not at all what it was.

No front connectors. I expected more from LLBean. I wish I would have realized this before my purchase.

Bought this for my 6 year old for kindergarten. It was a good size, fit his body well, and will hold the essentials. I have no doubt it will hold up well. However, the monogram is disappointing. Black was the suggested thread color and I went with it. 100% would not choose black, it was sewn directly over a black patch of camo. The reason for the lower rating was definitely just the monogram, but you pay extra for it so I feel it's an important part of my satisfaction.

I bought three of these backpacks for my kids starting school. The backpacks are technically fine. There's nothing wrong with them, but they feel like cheap discount backpacks. Not the quality I expected from LL Bean. I still have my backpack from high school purchased from them in 2008/2009 ish. This backpack is not the same quality and substance as that pack, and I will be shocked if it makes it through the school year, let alone a decade like mine has. I'm disappointed, but will be keeping the backpacks regardless because my kids are excited about them.
The embroidery is messy, none of the names are straight and they're all gapped and look rushed. I'm disappointed in these backpacks.

I paid 8$ for monogram name & it's SO THIN. Not like it's show on the preview picture! I wish I knew or I would have let my local store monogram it for 5$ & it be what I expected.
Disappointing.

Poor quality. We already had to replace the first one, because the strap frayed right off. There's a lot of visible wear and tear after only having it for 4 months. All of the front panel is scratched. For an LL Bean product, I'd expect more.

The monogram was good quality, and the shipping was fast. Unfortunately, the zipper gets stuck frequently on the fabric and I'm afraid it's going to rip. When I reached out to customer service, they told me to send it in for "inspection" which means I'd have to buy another backpack for my child in the meantime.

It's smaller than the last one I bought. And way more expensive.
I should have shopped for more options on online

Backpack is ok. The dots on the material were lined up crookedly so it doesn't look very good.
Took a long time to get the backpack and did NOT send it back due to school starting in my area.

I have bought a backpack from LL Bean in the past and it was very nice. I ordered my daughter the flower backpack with her name on it and it is tiny. I can't even hardly read it. Very disappointing.

This book is not what I expected . The water bottle falls out of the side pocket bc it's small pocket w no band to hold it in place .Has no pockets inside or divided areas like their other book bags does The material also seems a little cheap not satisfied . I do not recommend this book bag I should have order the same LL bean bag I got my older son .

Have bought 3-4 LL Bean backpacks over 25-30 years and not had a problem. The fabric on this particular backpack gets caught in the zipper continuously. Takes a lot of strength and time to get it loose. Also, the straps are long and where they adjust is at an awkward place. The bag is mainly useless for a 1st grader.

The backpack was thin and plastic feeling. The shoulder straps felt like cardboard and was very stiff. The hand strap was flimsy. Overall, it feels very cheap.
