I purchased this backpack for my niece who'll be starting kindergarten, shes tall for her age so chose this over the junior original. I had purchased one for my son in preschool and he had his up through 8th grade. So I know hers will last her for years to come. The shoulder straps are strong and sturdy, zippers are excellent quality, the fabric is durable, and she is thrilled with all the pockets and compartments. LL Bean backpacks are always 100% reliable. Would never use anything else. (I even have my own for travel, etc.)

We love the colors and durability of LL Bean and this bag is the perfect size for my kindergartener to use up until middle school.

My new kindergartener loves her new big girl backpack. It should last her about 3-4 years (size wise) if I had to guess. We had the junior backpack the last two years for preschool and it was the perfect size for preschool. This bag can comfortably fit folders and notebooks and a lunch box where as the junior backpack was a tight fit.

My sons have old LL Bean backpacks that they have been using for the past 4 years! (no rips, zippers still work, etc.) I decided to get them new backpacks because its been so long & they need bigger bags not because of a quality issue. These bags may be more expensive than a lot of bags out there but they last SO much longer. My sons love their new backpacks & I'm happy because they are sturdy & appear like they will last for years to come.

I am a mom to 5 adult children and I am carrying on the tradition of LLBean backpacks for my Grandchildren! I bought this for my first Grandson who will be starting kindergarten this fall. They hold up to lots of dragging around and wash great! I highly recommend these backpacks! Lunch boxes too!

My granddaughter loves her backpack! Her brother had one I bought she liked his so much she asked me to get her one ... I have bought them for all 4 grandchildren... they love the drink holder on the side pocket!

Good size for younger students. I bought one for my son when he entered kindergarten and it is still in perfect shape as he enters second grade. We bought this one for my daughter in anticipation of its continued durability.

My granddaughter had a red one for preK - 1st grade, and is starting second grade with her new print backpack, she's very pleased. All three of my grandkids have LL Bean backpacks, they shop online with me and pick out their own designs and monograms. They all love them, what more can I say? Kid approved!

Not too big but big enough to carry it all! Great quality, lots of organizing pockets, and I love the pattern!

Well made- just hope for the cost and all of the shipping costs it holds up!! Over $50 for a kids backpack with their name isn't bad. I think llbean would do better in sales if they avoided the extra fees for everything.

Good so far. My other child's backpack the top handle has already torn principally off.

Nice size backpack for 1st grader. Excellent bright colors. However, material feels a little thin.

The backpack itself is great. The disappointing part is I had it embroidered and the color example shown when I was ordering it was a much darker color which is what I wanted but when it arrived the embroidery is much lighter than shown so you can barely see the name.

Its not the quality that LL bean use to have. Years ago they were just better made. It will work for my 8 year old granddaughter.

Good bag, has handy pockets in the front. I didn't know the straps were a rock hard thick foam and are digging into my child's shoulders. The straps suck. I used to get these backpacks every year as a kid and the straps were not like this. The bag is quality and I see it lasting for a while but if there are heavy books the straps would be too uncomfortable.

Purchased for kindergartener, very roomy, not a ton of pockets, engraving came out fine, careful on choosing the color for the engraving! Ordered the multi pink one, burgundy thread for engraving does not show up well. We like the silver reflective material on it. Not made in America

This backpack is perfect for younger elementary kids including taller kinders. Fits folders, textbooks and an extra change of clothes easily with a steady sizeable side pocket for a water tumbler.

For the price, this backpack is what I was looking for. My sons love their backpacks. I feel like the quality could be better, so I am wondering how long it would last for the school year. But I feel like for the price I paid, it is expected. The personalization was done very well.

This backpack has already proved to be durable when, on the first day of school, it got left on the roof of the car and came through that trip without so much as a blemish. The only thing I'd add to this pack is gear loops. My kids are into keychains and there's nowhere good to attach them

Great quality and nice colors should last several school years! The only thing I'd add is a pocket inside the main part of the backpack.

I couldn't find the same style of backpack my older child got a few years ago, but I thought this might be the closest thing to it. It is made well and will probably hold up for years (my older kid is going on 4 years with one patch added to hers), but this is boxier and doesn't have the internal sleeve in the main compartment the other had (I use it to hide a spare set of clothes for my young kid). I didn't think to look for that in the description. The colors are bright and fun and my kindergartner loves it.

Love the quality and on the site they recommended I use white for the name embroidery but you can barely see it I should've used my gut instinct and used purple. Oh well, use what you want and not what the site suggests.

Great Backpack - what would make it incredible would be if it had a clip for water bottles and/or the water bottle pocket could be tightened (my kiddos water bottle is constantly falling out). Other than that a lot of space, well made, comfortable for my 3rd & 5th graders. Embroidery also is very well done.

Bought as a bday gift for my granddaughter. She loves it thou she hasn't started using it yet.
