I was excited for my sons first LL bean backpack. The straps are hard as rocks. I understand they are built to last, but my son complained within 5 minutes of wearing it at the bus stop. Backpacks are too heavy nowadays for such stiff and uncomfortable straps. I wish I didnt get his initials embroidered, because now we are stuck with it.

HOWEVER, even though the fabric held up will to my 13 year old, I am done fixing the zipper because this time I couldn't. Zipper caught on fabric on other side, which I will add has been a repetitive issue, came off track and now I cannot get it back together. If I could of found my receipt Bean would of handled...lesson learned

My kids have always been loyal to LL Bean backpacks - they are cute, durable, comfortable and well designed. I was so excited to upgrade my 10 y/o daughter's current backpack to the rainbow dot design. However, when we received the item and she tried it on, we realized the straps were placed too close to each other, effectively pinching her neck. We've never had such an issue. Sadly, we had to return.

Bought for my daughter and son, same backpacks different designs but my daughters straps are extremely hard and she complains they are uncomfortable. Other than that they would be great bags, made very well and look nice!

This is a nice backpack with a lot of room and seems to be well constructed. However, after less than a year of VERY LIGHT use, one of the waist straps ripped completely off. The rest of the backpack looks totally new because it was so lightly used. Very disappointing. Never had an LLBEAN bag fail like this.

Great backpack but very shallow water bottle pockets. My kids' water bottles are falling out very easily - and these are typically sized bottles.

My 2nd grader chose this backpack because he like the black color and the design. He has carried a backpack from another retailer (PB) for 2 years but said the dinos were baby so I let him pick out a new one. The quality is not the best. This backpack is lesser quality. It is a battle to get my son to carry it because the straps are hard foam and are very uncomfortable on his shoulder. The straps are not pliable at all and rub because there is no give in them. I would expect higher quality material for the price I paid.

Love the bag very disappointed with the name embroidery! The embroidery looked much bigger in the preview image, it ended up being way smaller than i expected! I wanted her name to pop with the color i used and its very tiny.

I found this backpack to be a little too bulky and cumbersome for my tastes and needs. I use backpacks for purses and this is so stiff, that even without it totally full, it still takes up a lot of space, some side straps to be able to cinch it in would be great. I took it on summer vacation so I mostly wore tank tops with it, the straps really dug into my shoulders, even with the waist strap and the bag not more full than other bags I have. It is also really hot. I love the bright colors, the roominess, the multiple sections to try to keep organized, and the side pockets, they easily a 32 oz water bottle.

The product arrived with a spot on the front pocket. Otherwise, a good bag. Just stinks it was not brand new in appearance upon arrival. I would like a replacement as it's for my daughters school year.

I used an LL Bean backpack for years. I was so excited to buy one for my son because of the quality and longevity of use. Imagine my surprise when the zippers would get stuck about once every two weeks. I am so disappointed in the change in the quality.

This backpack has plenty of room for my son to have school supplies, extra clothes, and gear. The only problem is the mesh pocket on the side. This is the second one we have had tear within a few months! He uses a regular sized water bottle and it is not excessively stretched, so I feel like the pocket should hold up better. (Also your system thinks an apostrophe is an emoji and will not allow a review with one. Please fix that.)

I chose the recommended color for monogramming this backpack and the initials are barely visible. I wish I wouldn't have gone with the recommendation. Otherwise, great backpack.

We bought this bag in September and my 17-year-old uses it daily for school and for work, and he bikes everywhere so it gets a lot of use. It's been super durable and has held up well. The problem is that the zipper easily gets caught in the storm flap of the biggest compartment. One zipper already got derailed so it no longer zips, and the other one got stuck so hard in the flap that I thought we would lose it too. I ended up cutting the storm flap away so this stops happening.

this book bag did not meet my expectations. I buy LL Bean Products because of their reputation for being quality. The zipper on this book bag broke after 2 years. Would not recommend.

The bag is a great weight and size. The only issue I have with it is the the zippers catch on the zipper cover lip almost everyday. It makes operating this backpack somewhat of a pain. As I have to get pliers and pull the lip out to open the backpack. I suggest you make the zipper cover thicker so it will not catch in the zipper.

The middle zipper keeps getting stuck on the flap. My daughter's teacher couldn't get it open any other way and cut the flap in order to get out the important books she needed out of that pocket. I'm disappointed that the bag isn't working like the first back pack I got for my other daughter.

I love LLBean backpacks. The last one my daughter had lasted 6 years. When this one arrived I would have said 5 stars. She has only used it a month and the netting on the side is coming out of the elastic band. It can still hold a bottle for now, but not sure how long until the hole gets bigger

This is the 3rd back pack that has had the zipper stick on the zipper cover flap. Haven't had 2 full weeks. Wouldn't recommend any bags with the cover.

My daughter was so excited when her LL Bean backpack and matching lunch box arrived. The Fresh Mint Prism pattern is very pretty. She and I both loved it. The organization is also excellent. However, once she tried it on, she was no longer excited. The straps are rather close together at the top and they rubbed against her neck when she wore it. Also, it sat high on her back. We adjusted the straps several times, but cannot adjust it to fit. For those it does fit, I think it will be a great backpack.

I bought this backpack because I have a black one that I purchased last year and my husband uses it to travel occasionally. I wanted a second bag so we could both have a backpack if needed and recently took this to Las Vegas for a work trip. The straps were considerably less comfortable than my older bag and it seems to hold a significantly less amount than my older bag. Overall, I was pretty disappointed in some apparent changes that were made to the model as my shoulders were hurting just from walking in the airport. I love L.L.Bean but have been less than excited about this bag.

I love the durability of these bags, especially for kids. HOWEVER there is one major drawback, they are hard to clean. They are kids, on a school bus, in school and they get dirty, gross dirty uf they are my kids. Over the summer moths decided to take up residence in my sons and the only way I could get rid of them was to wash them in the washer. Now that durable waterproof lining is gone!! Extremely frustrating!!

Cute backpack colors are pretty. We choose to get her name monogrammed on it and I was very surprised at how small it is. You cant read it unless your real close. She is bummed. Maybe should stick with initials. Other than that great purchase.

I bought this backpack for my grandson and was using it as my carry on bag. It was holding no more weight than a few school books. In the airport the strap broke - at the site where the short mesh piece attaches the plastic strap holder. From observation it looks like this piece of mesh was never stitched, possibly only glued. The same on the other side was beginning to come apart. Not sure what happened in the manufacturing but definitely a flaw. I have ordered a new backpack hoping it was a fluke.
