The quality of the backpack is excellent. The fabric and zippers are all excellent. My only complaint is there is a sort of device pocket/pouch that is really too small to accomodate anything larger than a phone. It's nice to have that "tech pouch", but it could have been made mroe useful.

Not as large as expected. I think it will hold up though. It just doesn't work great for my kiddo.

Bag is great the pockets on the side for water bottle not so great. We have tried multiple size bottles and they all fall out. If there was a strap to tighten or secure that may help. We ended up getting a parachord strap to secure bottle to backpack

My middle schooler loves this new backpack: it has just the right number of compartments and holds a water bottle in the side pockets. She finds the straps are uncomfortable and dig into her neck. The foam, she says, should be less rigid.

If it holds up as well as her last backpack Mom and Grandma will like it too.

Good size, lots of pockets, but material feels different than in years past. Feels cheaperhoping it holds up and doesn't rip like the side mesh pockets

We've only been using the bag for two weeks so far it's doing great. The only thing negative that I can say is that the material seems much thinner than in previous years. Hopefully it holds up for the year.

We love our LL Bean Book Packs. This year we ordered the Deluxe version for the first time since my upper elementary children will be using chromebooks for school to accommodate part time distance learning. I was looking forward to the padded tech pocket for the chromebook and looked all over the page to find details about it with no luck. Turns out that pocket is only big enough for a cell phone. I guess I have to hope that the folder pocket in the main section will be enough to keep their chromebooks safe.

The backpack looks fine. However, the initials aren't right. It was my understanding to put the initials in the order that I wanted them to appear. They switched the middle initial and last initial. I talked to a representative and she said I would receive a new one. That was about a month ago.

My granddaughter loved the backpack for Christmas. The only problem was the monogram was incorrect. It should have been AWJ but it came with AJW. She said it was okay and didn't want to send it back. I have purchased your backpacks for my kids and now my grandchildren. They are very durable and great craftsmanship. In fact, my son still uses his from high school and he's now 37. Anyway, thanks for a great product.

After reading many reviews I decided to get this for my kiddo, it's so big! I think it will last her through middle school (she's in third now) I think the material is a little stiff and the zippers are awkward and get stuck on the zipper cover which seems a little "extra" I feel like I should have shopped around in person for her backpack it also has what appears to be a waist strap but it sees too short and flimsy to do anything. The water bottle pockets are also very loose and do not seem well constructed. The interior is good with lot's of storage options and print and monogramming are cute, but overall I would not purchase this bag again.

Though I do like this backpack IT IS very rugged. After using it, I find the laptop falls forward in its pocket like the pocket is just a bit too short. I also wish the front 2 pockets had more sections. In hind sight, I might have wanted to go with the next model up for more details. I also wish it had a slip pocket for a cell phone.

Love the new backpack I bought for our 4th grade, 9 year old granddaughter except for one thing. It is great that there are two bottle holders. Not so great that the bottle holders are made out of extremely flimsy material with holes that will likely catch on things and not hold up as well as the material used on the rest of the backpack. You can normally use an LL Bean backpack for more than one year. Not sure that will be the case with the new flimsy bottle holders. And you will not be able to return it after one year if that is the case.

I've bought 5 of these over the years for my two kids. As they get older and need something that holds more stuff, I buy them the next size up. This worked fine until the zipper on the one my son currently had broke beyond repair. I bought him another one, and, as the other was still in the year window, LL Bean refunded me for it so it didn't cost me anything to replace it. I have bought LL Bean clothes/stuff of all kinds for years and really the only major issue I've ever had with them is the zippers, which have broken on a few jackets I've had as well. Other than that, I love their stuff.

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter. The flower print is super cute, and the bag itself is well made and very spacious--it has enough pockets to hold everything she needs for school. She should be able to use it for the next few years through middle school I would think.

I love the color and design - Periwinkle Sky Chevron. This bag seems to be well constructed. I got it mainly as a carry on for traveling on planes. It fits well under the seat, and with the compartments, I can find things easily. The straps are very stiff, and I hope with time they will soften and be a little more comfortable.

The straps are very stiff, hard and uncomforable. Not impressed - hopefully with time my shoulders wont hurt when I use it. I am too lazy to return it. In general, LLBean quality is on the decline. They were my go to for backpacks and rain jackets, but in recent years the quality change is noticeable.

I hope I can change this review when we receive the second round of backpack and lunch box. My daughter has used this backpack and her lunch box, also from LL Bean for about two months now and the top loop strap is already fraying and coming apart from the bag. The lunch box strap has completely torn off on one side. It's disappointing because the backpack we used for four years from another popular brand looks brand new. I washed it in the washing machine, spot cleaned it, and it held steady. We just needed a bigger bag since our third grader brings her laptop home and has more to carry. I want to give LL Bean a chance but it's been a disappointing first impression. I do appreciate their return policy and I'm ordering a second round but because she has to use it now, I have to buy the items again and then submit the return. I tried to upload pictures but it just clocked.

We picked this backpack for my 6 yr old for school because he liked the design and I thought L L Bean made quality backpacks but it's only been 3 days of school and my kid doesn't want to wear the backpack because it hurts. We determined what is hurting is the straps rubbing against his neck. I tried the backpack on top and that's what I noticed as well. When compared to his old backpacks the material on the LLBean backpack is noticably rougher and more uncomfortable. If you don't think that will bother your kid you should buy the backpack because the design is nice (lots of pockets, vibrant color, padded straps) but if scratchy fabric is irritating I would NOT buy this backpack

We love your backpacks. My wife has bought one for each of our grandchildren before they start kindergarten. The only problem I have with the current one is the monogramming. When we were on line looking at it my granddaughter picked out a rose color for the monogram. At that time it looked really good; however, once on the backpack you can barely see it. If there is any chance that something won't show up once it is monogrammed then that color should not be an option.

Love the size and overall durability of this backpack. However, my daughter has been using it for summer camp to hold extra clothes and shoes and the loop at the top has already started to fray after 2 months of use.

This is the 2nd LL bean backpack I've had to buy in the last few years because of poor quality. Zipper got stuck after only 5 months of use. Last one also had issues: water bottle netting broke easily and also zipper issues- I was hoping it was a fluke so I bought another. Looks like this is an issue for several others as well. Do not recommend purchasing for the money. Where did the quality go?!

I bought two of these for my teen daughters. Both backpacks had broken zippers within two years, and they are only guaranteed for one year. It's sad because the backpacks still look practically new, but they are unusable without functioning zippers. The zippers break because the backpacks are designed in a way that the flap material constantly gets caught in the zipper.
