I bought this for my kindergartner. She is rough on backpacks, sometimes rolling on the ground with it on, or dragging it as she gets tired at the end of the day. I bought her an LL Bean backpack since I've had two over the last 20 years (each lasted me 10 years!) and I knew the quality was what I wanted. She loves the design and I love the quality. She can beat it up and it will still last several years.

In 1997, I begged my mom to buy this backpack for me. It was really popular at my high school, and ALL of my textbooks could fit into it! In 2019, after two undergraduate degrees, one graduate degree, and a TON of travel...I had to retire it. It was still mostly functional, but the front pocket had developed a hole, the zipper had broken, and a handful of cough drops had melted while I was traveling in Germany and I could no longer pry the pocket open. Naturally, I gravitated to this backpack now that I'm a teacher and need to be able to use that front pocket. The updates to the pack are fantastic and align with the updates in my life since 1997. I now carry a laptop, so hooray for a laptop sleeve! I now carry a water bottle and a coffee flask, so hooray for two side pockets for bottles! I no longer have a youthful spine, so hooray for a back-friendly ergonomic design! And greatest of all, the general structure is still the same, so thanks to muscle memory, I still automatically reach for my school supplies in the same spots that they were tucked away in high school.

My parents got me this as a college graduation present. I am going to be a teacher and was looking for a comfortable bag that would carry everything I needed to bring back and forth with me. I'm so excited to begin using it.

I have used L.L Bean back packs for over 20 years and will not use any other. The strength and quality is amazing and they hold up for years.

I returned this item, it was bigger then I needed, but it was very well made and I loved the color.

All 3 of my kiddos have these backpacks. My son's backpack broke within a few months of purchasing but customer service took care of the issue and replaced it without any headache. So far my 2 daughters's backpacks are holding up well. They love all the pockets & how everything they need for school fits well.

I bought this for my 5th grade daughter who is under the average for her height. She will going into middle school next year & needed a backpack that had plenty of pockets to keep up with her school schedule next year. So far there is plenty of room for her lunch box, and the small amount of papers she has right now. She has a front pocket for daily stuff like hand-sanitizer, tissues & chap stick. This backpack will also get some use when we do some traveling.

These are the best backpacks hands down! L.L. Bean stands behind their products. The deluxe book packs are great for all ages and hold a ton of stuff!

This is my daughter's 3rd LLBean backpack in 6 years. Not because they have worn out, but her and her school gear just continue to grow :) As the winter season was upon us we realized we needed something larger to accommodate the cold weather gear she totes back and forth to school. We pack snow pants, shoes, lunch box, snacks, a couple books and toys, hats and mittens, a water bottle....and it closes without having to sit on it!! Yay! Great quality, value, and design for my 8 year old!

This was a gift for my granddaughter for Christmas. She loves the design and the size (it is fairly large).

Not much of LL Bean falls short of design or durability and this product is one of the best. I bought this back pack for my daughter in '13 or '14. She is in 3rd grade and hasn't ask for a new one and I haven't encouraged. I may break down next year. We travel with this as well. The compartments are perfect. I can wash this and hang dry and looks good as new. When our friends in Honduras requested quality back packs for their children's new school in January I thought of no one else to re-order from. Hopefully I can post a picture later.

It is so comfortable and makes it easier to carry heavier items. I like that it's waterproof especially with electronics inside. Love the fabric design too.

I've had this backpack since the fifth grade, and I am now a sophomore in college! It's been everywhere with me, and it's been put through the wringer. It fits everything you could possibly need, and it's comfortable to wear. The only thing that has happened to my bag throughout all this time is faded color on the bottom and a broken zipper, but since each pocket has 2 zippers, this is not a problem. Highly recommend buying this bag, as it will last you a lifetime.

This is a great backpack. As always LLBean delivers outstanding quality. My son complains his water bottle falls out the side. The backpack I use has a tightener on the side pocket. Perhaps consider this feature as well.

I used this backpack as a high school and college student. Now that my daughter has gone to high school, I decided to give her this well made and long lasting backpack. Mine lasted for all 12 years of school. The fabric didn't fade, the zippers didn't break and there was plenty of room for everything. Looking forward to many years of use!

Backpack shopping was NOT easy with my picky 12yo middle schooler but she LOVES it! We were looking for a backpack with LOTS of room but something as light as possible. We considered the Super Deluxe LL Bean backpack (my choice) and an Under Armour backpack (her choice)...but in the end she liked the LL BEAN Deluxe for its space/weight ratio, 2 water bottle bottle side pockets and the fashion forward design (coal dust herringbone print) and I LOVE the durability and warranty! So glad that LLBean finally gave the Deluxe some side water bottle pockets. Her only wish is that the water bottle pockets be "taller" so that bigger water bottles fit securely too. It would also be a nice touch if the bottom of the water bottle pocket was reinforced with solid backpack material as I worry if the bottle pocket might wear over time since one of the water bottle pockets inevitably ends up being a phone pocket because its easy to access. I do realize that the water bottle pocket isn't made for the phone but it seems to be the place that phones end up for easy reach. :-) As an aside I would also recommend this for elementary school kids as well.

My 8th grader loves her new backpack. It is very spacious without being gigantic. She is able to keep her school supplies organized and it's a unique pattern that she also enjoys.

Great backpack for my 4th grader ! So many pockets and plenty of room to hold his folders and lunch kit and snack bag. The mesh pockets on the side are perfect for his reusable water bottle as well . We did get the custom embroidery and it looks great against the camo print. My son loves to use the support buckle for around his waist when we pick him up from parent pick up and I can attest, it keeps his backpack from bouncing around while he runs to the car.

My granddaughter loves the design of her backpack. It has all kinds of compartments for the many items she has to tote to school. It is also very sturdy and we hope it last her a long time. I would recommend that anyone looking for a great backpack to get it from LLBean.

We were "browsing" the catalog, and he happened to point it out and thought it was "neat." With a birthday only a few weeks away we ordered it, and had his name monogrammed on it. Well, he was excited beyond belief! His name on that bag really made a big hit, and we know that we can rely on L.L.Bean quality,
