I ordered this school backpack (labeled as the Ledge pack then) for my son in 2015 when he was in middle school. Guess who's graduating this year and still using the same pack? The cheapskate in me balked at the $60 price tag, but this thing has stood the test of time and survived 7 years of daily use/abuse with minimal care. It is just now starting to show scuffing signs of wear on the bottom of the bag. I love LL Bean's quality and commitment to customer service. I would order this again without hesitation.

Bought this for the quality and I wasn't disappointed. This thing will stand the test of time for my 8 yr old. Only negative thing i will say is that i feel like it is a bit smaller than i expected.

I had this same book bag for 15 years. So I bought it again. The new bag is even better. It has a padded area for a laptop and has two spaces for water bottles. I hope this bag lasts 30 years!

Perfect backpack for my grandson in third grade. So much to bring to school! He had the smaller one but needed to upgrade. He and his mom love it!!!

Just the right amount of pockets and partitions for my middle schooler to fit everything into. He loves the color, too.

Love this backpack! I had the older version with no cup/bottle holders so I upgraded. Super sturdy and I love all the pockets!

The best backpack! Great size and holds up well. Bought this because we wanted a new color for the same backpack that was 4+ years old but is still in perfectly good shape so we'll have to pass the old one/color on to someone else.

I grew up having ll bean book bags at school with my name on it and I loved it. I'm 27 now! So with my younger sister I kept the tradition going and this is now her second ll bean book bag. They are a family favorite.

Overall an excellent pack. I can pack in a laptop, pair of shoes, a change of light clothing all in the main compartment. Toiletries and notebooks in the smaller compartment, and pens and such in the outer organizer panel. If I'm not travelling, I pack in the office stuff along with lunch and a puffy jacket. Excellent as a personal item on a plane. ONE thing I wish it had was compression straps to hold in a non bulky load, but that's quibbling. The price for the quality can't be beat.

My mom bought me one of these backpacks 25 years ago when I was in fifth grade. I remember thinking she was hilarious when she said she was never going to buy me another backpack. I used this bag through middle school, high school, college and medical school and still sometimes use it for weekend trips. I loved having multiple compartments and often used one for school books and the other for clothes for after school sports. It has held up very well and I assure you that it is not because I was careful to take care of it. I was a normal kid who would overstuff, throw and generally abuse my bag. If they still make these as well as they did 25 years ago, this is money well spent!
