I bought this back pack for my grandson to start school. I also bought the matching lunchbox. My daughter loved the print! I LOVE L.L.Bean backpacks!!! My oldest grandson has a rolling backpack from L.L.Bean as the one purchased elsewhere couldn't handle the load for even one year. The backpacks are so durable & as are the lunchboxes. I even own one to pack my lunch for work!

My oldest son received one of these bookbags when he was 4 years old, so he could have a new bag for pre-school. He is now entering 2nd grade (He has only used this bag since he was 4) and the bookbag is still going strong! He is very rough on it and there are no tears, zippers are still great. The padding on the straps is very helpful. He loves the sharks design on his, loves all the pockets and the little clip he can attach things onto. The reflector is a great safety feature too. This year we bought one for our younger son (about to turn 4) with dinosaurs and he was so thrilled to have one like big brother. Seems to be the same great design and quality as the one we bought 3 years ago. So happy about that. As the boys outgrow these we will definitely continue to purchase bookbags from LL!

My 3 year old loves his new back pack. He hasn't used it for much yet but it seems to be a good fit.

I bought this for my youngest grandson who is going kindergarten, He loved it and couldn't wait to go to school today! This is the fifth or more backpack I have purchased for all my grandchildren over the years, they are very well made and last forever, I highly recommend them!!

This bag is the perfect size for my preschooler. Just big enough for a folder and essentials. The water bottle pocket is perfect for this year without water fountains too. The design is great and the fabric durable.

LL Bean always makes bags that last a long time. Got this for my preschooler to last through early years of childhood....looking forward to it. Strong zippers and quality material.

We have purchased this backpack for two of our kids now, when they were first starting Kindergarten - and it is the perfect size. The full-size kids packs are just so big for their little bodies! And this one looks exactly like a big-kid backpack (which makes them happy), just sized down a bit. The main compartment is big enough for full-size notebooks, a lunchbox and a lightweight jacket. The side pouch is just the right size for their water bottles (if I were to change anything about this backpack, I would add another pouch on the other side), and the smaller front pockets are great for pencils and stickers and rocks and whatever other little things they pick up along the way. And of course it's made by LL Bean, so it holds up great. They will outgrow it long before it ever wears out. Speaking of outgrowing, I expect we will get 3-5 years of daily use out of these backpacks before they will need the full-size pack.

This backpack is well built (strong fabric, seams and zips) and can definitively stand a lot of misuse. It's size fits the frame of a 5 years old perfectly. I'm expecting this to get my son through 2nd grade, but no more. After that he'll need an upgrade. Not because I'm expecting the backpack to fall apart, but because of its size. It fulfills the needs of kids in the lower elementary grades (proportions related to their frame and content capacity), but they'll grow out of it after that. Expect your investment to last 2-3 years and keep that in mind when you consider adding your child's name on it. Based on the quality I do expect it to be in pretty good "hand over" conditions when you retire it.

I bought my grandson a Junior Backpack because he was going to be in Kindergarten in the Fall. He loves everything about outer space, so I got him the Night Space print. I bought this backpack from LL Bean, because I know it will be well made, take the rough & tumble of a young boy negotiating the school bus and school. I also know this little boy will fill it with all kinds necessary school things, snacks, drink, etc, it will go with him on bike rides and hikes and carry little treasures found along the way,

I had this mailed directly to my seven year old great niece for her birthday and she loved it!! I had told her parents that if she really didn't need a backpack or for any reason didn't really want it to send it back to LL Bean (no charge - thank you LL Bean) and perhaps pick out a swimsuit. She said "But why wouldn't I want to keep it?" So it was a good choice and the colors are so much fun.

I bought these as gifts for my nieces who live across the United States from me. They absolutely loved them and used them immediately as their play packs, and loaded them up with crayons, books, toys, and snacks. It was wonderful to be able to add the gift note from me as well. They are the perfect fit. They are sure to get a lot of use out of these.

Perfect size for the Kind to 5th graders. Not to big for the little ones and can have their initials put on the book bag. I've purchased them for three grandchildren and they have held up well (5 years for the oldest one).

This bag is well-made and the perfect size for a 4 - 10 year-old. My 6-year-old son loves the shark print and feel of his bag. My daughter kept hers through high school! It is tough and functional.

My son is in kindergarten now & this bag has held up beautifully! I throw it right in the wash every few months & its held up great. We have the matching lunch box & that is just as great quality! Thank you LL Bean for making products my son & I both love!

Wish they came in more colors and patterns like they did in the past. The last three I purchased was in 2017 and it's time to upgrade my son's bag but I will hold out a little long to see if there will be more options available later.

I got this backpack for my son. He used it K through 2nd grade and now we use it for hikes, amusement parks, just anywhere we need to pack extra water and snacks. Both my husband I use it for these purposes regularly. My son is 12 now. That is a lot of good use!

I bought this backpack for my grandson. His mother's review: These backpacks are great! The smaller size is nice for pre-K and elementary kids before they start having to carry around a lot of binders and text books. This is the 5th year my third grader has used his and the backpack is still going strong with no issues (except maybe he's starting to outgrow the dinosaur pattern he chose back when he was 4!). Now my younger son is starting school, so we ordered one for him too since we were so pleased with the first. I wish there were a few more pattern choices, but he was pretty excited about the sharks. Great quality, as you would expect from LLBean. I expect it to last straight through elementary school.

We bought LL Bean's backpacks for our children and now our grandchildren. They last forever! They can pass from child to child, except that each child wants to choose their own!! They are reasonably priced and are a much better value than what you would buy at a store!

Our grandson loved this shark backpack and was anxious for school to start so he could use it. He is 3 and it was slightly big for him but as he grows it will be the ideal size. It is sturdy and appears to be well made and durable. It should be easy to keep clean with an external material that can be wiped off. Colors are attractive; design is suitable for both genders. Pockets and compartments are effective. This exceeded my expectations and was the perfect gift for him! Yes, I highly recommend it!

I bought this backpack for my grandson. He sings baby shark all the time and he really loved this when it arrived. I personalized it with his name in orange thread. Super cute!!
