Book bag was a lot smaller than I though I almost can't zip it up with his folder in it and the straps hurt his neck.

I bought this for my son, who is beginning kindergarten. I always had L.L. Bean backpacks for school, so I was excited to buy him his first. He loves the bag, and the color. But I have to say, I'm not impressed with the main zipper. The first time I tried to un-zip it, the flap that covers the zipper got caught. I thought maybe it was because the bag was empty. So I filled the bag, and the same issue happened again. Overall, I'm disappointed and wish I would have selected a different backpack. I might look into modifying the flap so it stays away from the zipper. On a positive note, it does feel nice and sturdy..as I expect an L.L. Bean backpack to be!

I have bought two of these for my son, the 1st one he had for two years and still uses it for trips. I bought a plain color for him for 3rd grade and it's held up amazing. However, we will be going to a new brand for 4th grade and for my daughter starting VPK. I'm just so tired of trying to fight the zipper when it gets stuck on the flap that hangs over it.I get that the flap is supposed to protect the whole zipper component but when kids are moving fast the zipper gets stuck. We must fight with it 3x per week! Sometimes it is so stuck we have to use dish soap or wd40 to get it unstuck. I've also tried leaving the flap folded up but through the course of the day it falls back down. It's just not worth it anymore.

My kindergartener likes this, and the size is nice (though a tough fit if she needs to include a lunch box or change of clothes bigger than shorts & T-shirt). I just noticed a roughly dime-sized hole in the bottom, though. She has carried to school for a little over four months. Yes, she carries everyday and throws into car/on the floor with some frequency, but I am pretty sure other five-six-year olds could be expected to as well ; )

I really wanted to like this backpack however my kindergartener gets the zipper stuck almost daily. The size is great for a preschooler or kindergartener, but the issue with the zipper makes it too frustrating to use. I bought this backpack with the intention on using for a few years and then for another few years for my second. Unfortunately we'll be switching brands next year. Very disappointed since we also purchased the coordinating lunch box.

The material feels very plastic-y and a bit flimsy. Time will tell, but I would not buy again honestly

I was hoping it would be a little bigger and the side water bottle holder isn't as nice as I'd hoped either.

This is a great backpack I purchased for my daughter to use at daycare. It ripped after one school year in the bottom of the bag.

I was so excited to give my kindergartener the same back pack I loved in my school days .... well it looked basically the same but the quality isn't the same . The reflective stripe is already rubbing off and its on its 9th day of school . Not looking good to hold up the entire year.

The monograming has changed! I've ordered numerous monogrammed bags from you and never had this problem. It's super thin and much smaller now. The LLBean logo on the front of the bag is much more bold then the name I paid extra to have put on bag. As well as the thread isn't sewed tight. Not a great look.

My son was so excited to get his new red backpack. After 2 days of use, there was already a hole in the bottoms. So disappointing and a huge waste of money.

Ordered the backpack with one large zip because this is the one I had ordered in the past. The backpack is much smaller than the one we have now. A Mac computer barely fits.

The backpack itself is nice. Monogram is not centered and caused the fabric to gather around it. Looks terrible..

Frustrated with the monogram! Weird placement of letters and location on the backpack. Ruined the whole thing!

This was purchased two years ago because I have seven children and wanted to get all the 'colors' and backpacks at the same time. My son went to kindergarten for half the year then I pulled him out to homeschool him. This is the backpack. I'm really disappointed. This is not the quality LLBean used to be known for.

I would hoping this backpack would get us through preschool and kindergarten but it's not well made enough to do that. My preschooler went to school 5 days a week for 3 hours, not even riding the bus, and this back pack is not going to be able to work for kindergarten. The quality is just not there which is disappointing for LL Bean. See pictures of broken zippers and seams.

Very disappointed with the monogram. Name was only four letters long but way too small, even in bold type. Would large caps have been any better? Returning.

Received the backpack with multiple black spots in the small zipper pocket looked like spots of mold or ink. Even with trying to wipe off they still didn't come off. Very disappointed.
