Noisy material, but waterproof, work on more silent outer layer waterproofing, like hunting jackets!

Could use a two-way zipper. Size is as advertised. Haven't yet worn it in heavy rain for any length of time, but it protected me well while walking the dog in a moderate rainstorm. Like the orange color for walking the dog at night.

Fits well. I like that I can adjust the hood to keep the rain off but not interfere with vision. The material is stiff but I expect it will be more supple as I use it. Have not yet used it in the rain but it looks as though it will keep me dry.

Great coat. Fits to size. VERY surprised that it's not a bit thicker. It's essentially a shell. I did put in under the faucet and it's definitely waterproof. Looks great, fits great, and definitely repels water great. But $279????? For a goretex branded product? With no liner providing any warmth? This should be AT MOST $150.

This jacket provides both waterproofing in a big rain and breathability during exertion, but it's just not what it used to be. This is my third iteration of this jacket from Bean. The others, equally effective, were far softer and pliable, and fit easily into a built-in pocket pouch - not so with this stiff and clunky jacket. Keep the performance, but go back to the far better feel and ease of use.

This jacket works/fits as expected. The only thing I would change/improve is to add some sort of mesh to the armpit vents and to make the zipper pulls a little more robust.

I usually wear XXL shirts and jackets. Two year ago I ordered an LL Bean heavy winter coat in XXL to see my son and grandkids in Iowa for Christmas. That coat fit perfectly. However, I had to really suck in my gut to zip up this jacket. It was also tight in the shoulder area. I am returning this rain jacket and ordering another in XXXL.

I put this jacket to the test over a week long camping trip. Of which it rained nearly every day, for several hours a day. This jacket kept me dry the entire trip. My main complaints about this jacket is it isn't the most breathable, nor is it a lightweight jacket. There are other competitors offering 3 layer gore-tex jackets that are lighter and more breathable. This jacket also does not have a stuff sack nor does it stuff into a pocket like many other jackets. So it's not an easy jacket to pack in a backpack. Because of the things listed above I couldn't give it a 5 star rating. However for 250$ this is a pretty good deal.

Typical Bean quality. Nicely detailed, hope to try it out in the field.

Very waterproof, water will never get through. Only problem is fitment. I am short so I had to get a small but the sleeves are very long for the size. The medium fits well on the stomach but the sleeves are way to long. Im sure that is just me because I am short. I also think the jacket is very rigid, it feels like youre wearing plastic but it does fit nicely especially when you adjust the fitment.

I have two of these jackets. I wear one nearly every day at work. It blocks the wind and does a great job with the rain. I love the pockets and the underarm vents. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because the two jackets I own are the exact same size, but one fits slightly but noticeably different than the other. Don't let the 4 stars dissuade you from buying, because I assure you this is one of the best jackets you'll ever buy if you want to spend more time outdoors and be as comfortable as you can when the conditions are keeping everyone else indoors.

I knew this going in, but I wish the pockets were high enough to be above a pack belt. Make another model with higher pockets and it would be 5 stars. Also would be nice if it came in Small Tall. I love the length of the tall, as it is rare to find jackets with sleeves long enough for my Scandinavian-heritage-length arms, but it is even more rare to find slim enough for my heritage-skinny torso. The hand pockets are a little on the small side. I love the orange color. As others have said, it isn't as neon as the image suggests, but, it also isn't almost red as some other reviews led me to believe. It is definitely brighter in direct sunlight. I like it because it makes me visible in crowds, so the people I'm with can find me, and, I like that if I get lost on a backpacking trip, the orange will be more visible to search and rescue (heaven forbid I'll ever need rescued). Overall, it is a great jacket. This fulfilled every item I wanted except for those pack-belt-high-pockets I mentioned above: - polyester so that when the DWR wears off, it still dries quickly - awesome color - extra-long sleeves - pit-zips - velcro wrist-straps, and - a higher-than-average chin cover (though for a "tall", the chin could use another 0.5-1.0 inch taller--some tall people have long necks) - drop hem covers my rear end when I'm standing, which is great because I lean forward for the handle bars when I'm cycling, and instead of riding up and exposing my lower back, the extra length actually keeps me covered. I do hope it is durable. Only time will tell. Did I mention I love the color and how long the sleeves are? :) I recommend.

So far, great jacket and well-constructed. Being a short and chunky 74 y/o means the arms are bit long and bit tight, but that is the case for most outdoor clothing

Overall great jacket. Kept me super dry in rainy, misty weather. Breathable and great over layers. Only concern was the front zipper. Gave me trouble at times and not very smooth. Definitely an area for improvement.

I bought this jacket for my husband. The 2XL size was too small for him. It was really well made, but we returned it.

All in all, a good value for the money. I like having a liner as well as the "pit zips". The outer breast pocket is also a definite plus. Good fit. And definitely long enough even though I'm 6'3" I wouldn't mind having an drawstring around the bottom and a 2 way zipper.

The tall size XL fits my 6' 1" frame perfectly. It hangs longer than my last parka and that is a positive thing. It's ability to shed water is undeniable and its light weight makes it extremely portable. The material is stiffer than I thought it would be but perhaps it will become more limp as time goes one. It was a definitely a good purchase and an improvement over my last parka.

I wish it had been longer, which is why I opted for the tall version for my medium sized (5'10"/168 lbs.) frame. I have worn it once in the rain and it works for regular walking. I had intended on using for my bike commutes, but it may end up as a something for walks, etc. I wanted this to replace a 30 + year old gore tex rain coat I had bought from you - for now I am going to try to squeeze a few more years out of that coat or maybe have someone replace the zipper, which is wearing out. That coat goes down to mid thigh, which is ideal for bicycle commuting in rainy weather as the older longer rain coat kept my shorts and thighs dry during medium to light rains.

I'm 6'5" and 255lb. I usually wear tall xl in LL Bean products as I own their sweat shirts to another coat all in tall XL, but the pathfinder was a little to snug side for me in that size, so I ordered the tall XXL which is a little loose but I would rather have the room foyers if needed. Keep in mind this is just a gore-tex shell so you'll need layers for warmth in cold weather.

Ordered this because the North Col was not available in any talls or large. This is good in the hips but too tight across the shoulders. Not sure whether to try a XL or XXL. I am usually a tall large in most LLBEAN clothes.

This jacket was a steal during the black Friday pricing. Gore tex, all seam sealed, and slightly fitted (but not for waifs). I vacillate between a medium and a large, and a have 43" chest, and the medium fits me just fine even with the base layers on underneath. If I could change anything about the jacket it would be to add a powder skirt, and a ski pass pocket in the forearm. Also, on my computer screen the orange looks on the brighter/lighter side - like a carrot, but when I received the jacket the orange is quiet a bit darker and leaning more towards a reddish safety cone neon color - similar to the Orange of the Salomon QST skis if you know what that looks like. I wish the computer colors matched closer to true life - that makes it hard to order things with specific colors. But the jacket is a great addition if you want something minimalistic.

I've had this coat now for over 6 months. It works well in the weather however if you have shoulders and want to wear anything beyond a t shirt then go up a size. It's too bad LL Bean doesn't go back to its working man roots. I was hoping to use this coat as shell to work in this winter but that won't work. Not all of us like or can fit into slightly fitted without breaking out the shoulders. It would depend on the person who I would recommend this coat to.

Sort of a girl's jacket. I have and older version of this jacket and the new one is noticeably smaller in the shoulders. Fortunately, I'm now 70 years old and my shoulders have grown smaller, and so the jacket barely fits. But if I was younger, it would bust at the seams. I'm still not sure that it will fit when I wear a sweater or fleece under the jacket.
