I love its lightness and protection from the wind. I like the fact that it has a hood with a drawstrap. I like the inside pocket and the drawstrap around the waist and the elastic wrists.

It is very light, hard to believe there is much of a lining in it but it keeps me warmer than my old one. The hood is a little annoying but overall an excellent jacket.

Warm, light similar to wearing a cozy sleeping bag. Travels well and works really well with a light waterproof shell over it to create exceptional ski

I insisted my husband try this jacket in spite of his doubts that it would be warm enough. Well, four months later and a closet full of jackets, this is the only jacket my husband has worn all winter be it 40 degrees outside or 10! I have two longer versions of this from several years ago and I know it is the perfect all around winter jacket for the northeast.

Great jacket, light weight and warm. Bought this for a trip to Alaska and I'm sure I made the right choice.

This parka has an equivalent amount and quality of down as parkas from Western Mountaineering which cost almost twice as much. The fabric is lightweight but the zippers are very robust. The parka is designed for backpacking and winter ski touring trips when warmth and durability need to be balanced with minimizing weight and bulk. I've taken it on overnight winter ski tours and on long day ski trips in Yellowstone NP when the temperatures were in the low single digits and it performed great--- albeit in conjunction with long underwear and a fleece mid layer. If you want the warmest possible coat for hunting, ice fishing, or winter camping you may want to get something heavier or even look to a synthetic filled parka; but for backpacking and winter ski touring this an excellent jacket and, in my opinion, an exceptional value.

I really wanted to know what the fill weight was, so I contacted customer support. Men's Medium fill weight: 4.32 oz, total weight is about 15 oz. Each size varies 1.12 oz, so you can scale proportionally to determine fill weight for any given size. Hope this helps someone else. Great fit and finish. This is a heavier jacket compared to some other ultralightweight options on the market -- the thicker face material makes it so. Still extremely compressible and lightweight. My suggestion to anyone saying that this jacket isn't warm is this: look at fill weight and fill power. It's not a winter parka, it's a ultralight insulation layer. You will not be warm standing around with this and a t-shirt at 0 degrees F. I've found I'm okay at 40 or so with just this. Thanks to LL Bean customer service for quick responses.

This is an excellent lightweight jacket. Very stylish. However the large size is a slim fit and too small for a wide chested or muscular person. I had to exchange it for a different style.

Jacket is lightweight yet pretty warm. The hood is also very helpful. It's not the warmest jacket that you can buy but works well in layers.

I bought the 850 in both the hooded and jacket style. I love both and occasionally double them up on minus degree days. So why not double the fill and charge $450 for it? I would've bought that one instead. Consider this 4.5 stars, because a double-filled version of the hooded 850 would be 5.

Very very good jacket. I also bought the 850 sweater jacket from LLBean to compare both. This is the heavier version, filled with what seems to be twice as much down. It is also longer and bigger, so you can layer underneath more easily. I've been wearing this daily this winter for my bike commute with temperatures from 35 to 15 degrees without any problem, although I always wear a wool sweater underneath. Blocks wind perfectly, is more water resistant than you'd expect for a puffy jacket (it isn't waterproof though!) and looks and fits great.
