The jacket was too large so I returned and ordered a small which showed up in a few days. The return is where my problems began. I returned the item on 10/14 from a UPS store. I got email notification it was received 10/22 and then nothing. I called to find out the status of credit and was told I was mailed a gift card to the location where the jacket was mailed. This was at a vacation home to an unmanned mailbox that I would not return to until after Jan 1. I paid for both the med & small on my AmEx card and asked for a credit to that card. I was told once the card was mailed that was all they could do. After more than an hour and 2 chats (the first person a Kevin was unhelpful) I got someone to help me. Now it has been 3 days since they said they would issue the credit to my AmEx and still no credit. I expect at some point it will show up but for now it's not been a great experience. As for the jacket, waiting for cold weather to wear.

The jacket was plenty warm for two seasons. The outer shell is falling apart and the insulation is leaking.

I have one of these coats without a hood so I though I would add one with a hood. I have done a lot of travel and these coats are perfect. light weight and very warm. I love the zippered pocket in front to hold tickets, my phone or sunglasses. I would highly recommend this coat.

This jacket fit beautifully, and if a better quality of fabric had been used for its exterior, it would have been a keeper. However, the fabric was SO thin that the down feathers used as the jacket filling actually showed through the jacket fabric! This resulted in the entire jacket appearing to be covered with stains wherever the down feathers were brown. The front, back, sleeves, hood - everywhere - looked very dirty. This might be why jackets of this color and a yellowish gold color were on sale. It seriously appears to have small oily stains dotting the exterior of the jacket. How could this be missed during production? The picture doesn't do the problem justice. If you are looking for a well-fitting beautiful red jacket that appears to have been worn while dropping cold meat into hot grease, then this is the jacket for you. It's going back to LLBean pronto, and I won't be ordering a darker color that might hide the brown of the feathers. Interestingly enough, the darker colored jackets in this style are MUCH more expensive. besides, the cost of the jacket is WAY too high to have filmy fabric of this poor quality. I'm not a happy camper since a construction issue such as this should have been caught and rectified before this jacket ever came in contact with consumers. The fabric is just not appropriate for being used in the construction of jackets; for dresses, maybe, but not for down-filled coats. Forget about ordering this one!

I bought this jacket less than a year ago and at first was thrilled with the performance. However, the stitching by the arm pit came apart (manufacturer issue). Instead of standing by their product, LL Bean customer service tried to make me pay the difference to get a replacement (there was a price increase) When they finally decided to honor the price I paid my size/color was out of stock and not available until next season. I'd suggest considering the following before purchasing: The quality control. This is a major issue as mine didn't last a year. Second, consider that you may not be able to get a replacement and be offered a replacement that is unsatisfactory to you.

I ordered an XL Tall, yet this jacket fits like a size large. I needed a super warm and light jacket for extreme outdoor use. My Baxter jacket out performs this jacket, but is to heavy for back packing and layering. Returned it.

Very thin jacket that was not worth the money. It ripped after a week. I have been a L.L.Bean customer for over 30 years. This is the worst thing I've ever bought from them. Most of their jackets are like this now, so I don't know if I will never buy anything from them again.

If you need a coat for garage to Audi to valet, you found it! Didn't see this lasting a week! Why not rip stop!!?? Really miss counting on Bean for long term quality and durability. Not one company left now. Bean quality control has also been a HUGE issue. I can order four of same item and get four different fits. This was returned immediately, so not sure if it's warm or keeps you dry. It weighs nothing. But, definitely not for anything more than dinner or mailbox.

Returned for credit or replace with same color. Several areas of what appears to be a light oily type smudge. My LLBean credit card (---7318)was compromised and is in the process of being replaced. Fraud alert from CitiCard.

I wanted to like this jacket very much. I've had it for just over three months now. It looks nice. It's very light weight. On a scale of 1-10 its warmth is probably a 7. Some downsides. It's NOT water resistant at all. Not even a tiny bit. Every bit of liquid soaks into this jacket and leaves marks all over when it dries. After two months I have seams coming undone. I washed it on delicate cycle and tumbled dry low and when I took it out of the dryer there were 6 holes in the jacket and down feathers everywhere. I don't recommend this jacket for anything but the nicest of conditions and even then be careful with it.

I really like this jacket. It's very warm, comfortable, and is slightly fitted. I rated it a 1 star because it is not durable at all. I've had the jacket for a year. When I first got it, I was putting on my backpack and my arm caught a plastic buckle and tore the material. I was able to send it back and LL Bean patched it for $15. Today I was walking and brushed against a limb and again the jacket tore open. I understand that these issues were my fault, but if you are active in this jacket, it will tear easily.

I'm 6'6" 220 lbs and owned two of these jackets in large tall size, hooded and non-hooded in the previous version purchased about 4-5 years ago. The fit was perfect and I convinced other tall friends to buy it too. The newer generation in the same size has narrower arm room around the shoulders so now the seam hits under my arms and wedges in my armpit. It's uncomfortable and unfortunate because I lost one of them and went to reorder. Not sure why they changed it, and I'm not a big guy so I don't know who can comfortably fit into it. I hope they change it back. I've found the same problem with other large tall garments.

Was disappointed with this jacket when I took it out of the package and saw how thin it is; for the money this is unacceptable; just not enough down; LL Bean boasts about this coat in their catalog as 850 down fill but that only refers to its loft potential; it has nothing to do with the weight or amount of down in the coat; if you think this is a coat for winter then come to Michigan; this is a fair weather jacket at best and not for serious cold; sent the thing back

Ran incredibly small. I am a regular Bean customer and felt cheated by the sizing of this item. It wasn't even close to the right size

Honestly the puff is nonexistent. I don't stay warm and the stitching has feathers coming out. I heard great things, but I truly wish this was a quality 300 dollar coat.

I have purchased 2 of these jackets. the first in Dec 2019. That one developed holes and feathers started coming out. Of course this was about 8 days out of warranty. We were told where to buy tape and repair ourselves. He really liked the jacket, so I purchased it again in Dec. 2020. Guess what LL Beans warranty ended 2 weeks ago and feathers are emerging again. We will NOT purchase again. You can send them back and they will determine if its a defective. After 2 jackets in 2 years I say it is a quality issue.
