It was a little tight around the mid section. If I lost about 30 pounds then maybe it wouldn't be so tight.

Honestly, one of the best coats I've worn in a long time. Quality, lightweight imo compared to some of my others which are a bit heavy yet has the same warmth conditions, and the fit is pretty comfortable. Would have loved a zipper protector at the top by the chin area when zipped up all the way and easier button snaps at the side pockets but it's understandable since it's a classic version. Totally nitpicking with those suggestions. Overall, it's an amazing coat! First purchase ever with L.L.BEAN. Great first impression. Again, this is a real review.

I liked everything about this parka--except that when I put on anything except a light wool sweater under it (i.e., the heavier sweaters I typically wear in the winter here in MN), it was too tight around the armpits and chest! And I am a pretty skinny guy who ALWAYS fits in a medium! Too bad--I had to send it back and look elsewhere.

My husband mostly loves this jacket. Well constructed with the exception of the snaps that attach the hood. Unlike the metal snaps along the front and on the sleeves, the snaps that attach the hood are plastic and do not hold well. Just lifting the jacket by the hood causes the hood to at least partially detach. Something more substantial and perhaps with a little bit of magnetic pull so it is easy to join the two parts.

Very warm coat, fit very well, would be better with a waist drawstring and an outside chest pocket

I sent this as a gift and have not seen it worn. He told me it fit and he liked it.

First, let's be fair here. This is not a flagship product. It's an economy product. I don't expect top-of-the-line features with this price tag.
Yes, the hood snaps are plastic. Yes, the zipper is plastic. No, there are no exterior zippers for the pockets. There are no exciting technical features.
But for the price, this jacket is warm. It has a removable hood and a double zipper. It's a clean, unaffected look.
My biggest gripe is that the inner shell material gets stuck in the zipper when I zip up the double zipper from the bottom.
It's not 5 stars for me, but it's a decent 4 for meeting expectations based on the cost.

I am from Mississippi and I had gone with my daughter on her trip to Iowa for her interview for her residency at a hospital. While we were there we traveled on to the Mall of America and I went to the LL Bean store and we bought some things, and this coat was one of them. I can honestly say it kept me warm in 7 degree weather during snow and sleet. I could not have been more pleased for a Mississippi man that had left 76 degree weather. LL bean has never disappointed me when ordering, but this was my first time to visit a store and it was a pleasure.

Looks good, feels good, keeps me quite warm. Needs more pockets/pouches inside and out. Hood attachment not secure. Have not had it long enough to see how durable it is.

Great jacket but i had snaps added to the pockets. Would also love an inside pocket. Small pocket on breast is too small for iPhone.

My husband has such difficulty keeping his body warm. This coat did the job and is lighter weight than it looks and that was surprising at how warm it keeps him. However, the snaps that keep the hood on are very disappointing. The snaps are plastic. At least I know how to sew. I can sew on the hood when the plastic gives out.

Good fit, quality workmanship and fabric, warm; one snap is giving me a problem but I'm sure I will be able to work it out.

I wanted something that would fit in between my lighter weight, fleece-lined jacket and the seriousness of the Baxter State parka. This coat works great! I purchased the X-large so that it would be comfortable over bulkier sweaters - and it is. The coat has two outside pockets that snap closed. I would have opted for more secure zippers. And, my one big gripe is the inside design. A winter coat really needs a couple of inside pockets or pouches. This would make the coat much more useful and would not decrease the warmth at all. I bought this coat in a local L.L. Bean store and it came with a detachable hood. I did not see this offered online or in a catalog. The hood is a great plus.

Bought this for teenage son who hates a heavy coat. This fit the bill - warm, but lightweight. Only problem we have is the hood. The hood is held on to the jacket by a couple of cheap plastic snaps. This leaves lots of space for wind to blow on back of neck and snaps come undone pretty frequently. Why wouldn't you make it a zipper attachment?!

Perfect fit. Decent zipper. I avoid Velcro, and this coat is thankfully without it. The hood isn't a great design. Hangs down too far and is not adjustable. Add a snap to adjust the hood, and add an exterior chest pocket with a zip closure, and it would be five stars.

this jacket was for my husband for Christmas. He wore it the first day and loves that it is lightweight but very comfortable and warm.

I needed a warm coat. this is warm and it fits. I wish it had an outside breast pocket, but I can live with the small inside breast pocket. the bottom zipper isn't real smooth. wouldn't mind prettier colors. but it's the best coat I've found this winter after shopping around.

I would give this jacket 5 stars but because the liner is a little tight in the biceps area it makes it slightly uncomfortable and tight. Otherwise, the jacket looks fantastic and keeps you very warm.
LOVE the Bean!!!

I like the Parker and have to say that it fits the temperature descriptions given for it. Still compared to a similar down parka that I bought many years ago, I find this one to be cold.
It fits well; is comfortable and if one is active is warm enough. If activity stops...well, don't expect to be warm.

I really loved everything about this coat, classic appeal, warm, high quality, but the medium (38-40) was too big for me, and the small(34-36) is too small, I am a 37. I have tried on Patagonia, North Face, Simms, Outdoor Research and stylistically this beat all of them, that's why I'm disappointed by the fit, so close but so far.

I bought this parka in 2020, possibly it has changed since then. The parka would be much better if the pockets were deeper. Especially in the winter one needs deep pockets. I have to be very careful that my gloves don't fall out of the pocket. There are inner pockets with a zipper that I have never used. A deep pocket on the inside would be good. It's going down to freezing tonight and I am considering wearing a lighter and much less expensive coat because of its deep pockets as I have to carry a few extra things. Wearing this coat is often a frustrating experience.

This would be my favorite jacket in almost every way but there was one issue - the snap-on hood comes off too easily. It often comes off when trying to pull on the hood if you are a little too hasty, or when the jacket is draped over your chair at a restaurant. I sewed the hood to the jacket in front and behind each snap, and now I love it. I recommend to L.L. Bean that the hood should be either permanently attached or attached with a nylon zipper.

Jacket would be great if the sleeves were long enough to be a Tall size. Had to return it. Very disappointing!
