I love this jacket. I travel a lot for work and to the northeast part of the country so this jacket has saved a lot of space in my suitcase and that's where this product shines. It fits just right but after only packing the jacket in the stowaway pocket, the zipper has already ripped in the stowaway zipper itself. I just started a return to essentially get a replacement jacket so maybe the zippers need to be more industrialized and heavy duty since after two packs it already ripped. Other than that, the jacket has been great to me.

Surprising how warm it is for it's weight. Been quiet cold around here and not needed much under it but a small sweater or sweatshirt. Nice if you like to be active and not into wearing heavy or big puffy jackets.

Nice jacket, though not quite as warm as I had hoped. Has done great with heavy cold rain, stayed dry. Because of my work uniform (scrubs only no pockets), the jacket was ok down to around 25F without wind, 30F with wind. When our temps were cold and windy (2-20F) I a puffer underneath was necessary. Fit/quality/construction was high quality as promised. Over all, I am happy.

I bought this for Seattle winters, which are cool, not cold, and wet. There is almost always a chance of rain. It's surprisingly difficult to find an insulated waterproof coat. This coat fits well and seems to be well-made. The catalog rates it "warm" while the website says "warmer." I'd say "warm," and not quite warm enough for me. It's good down to about 45, with a polartec jacket underneath. The jacket is light and it folds into a compact bundle. The best feature of this jacket, in my opinion, is the hidden cuffs in the sleeves - much better than a velcro closure. Also, most jackets are too long in the sleeves for me, but this is just right. There are a few things I don't like, though. The colors are blah. The gloss black trim around the zippers is garish. The jacket is snug in the armpits, in case you want to wear a bulky jacket or sweater under it. I don't need the zip vents, which only add to the cost, I'd think. But they may be nice for hikers. I don't think the fabric is sturdy enough for camping though.

Wonderful warm coat was too snug in the size that I ordered for my husband (XL). It is a beautifully made coat, with great pockets, and warm but not heavy. My husband wears LLBean shirts in size XL so that's what we ordered, but the coat is not cut to allow any room in the belly, and although he could zip it he feared that he wouldn't be comfortable moving in it, especially with anything more than a T-shirt on. We both feel that an XXL will be too big, especially in the shoulders, so I believe that I will be sadly returning this coat soon. Shopping for an alternative that compares favorably to this coat has not been easy though! I wonder, LLBean, have you ever considered adding a men's size range for active older gentlemen of a more "portly" build?

Great product for a trip to Iceland. It rained almost every day and this kept me dry and warm with some layers underneath. It was easy to pack as well. It did take a little time to dry after getting wet otherwise it would have received 5 starts. Happy overall!

Jacket is great, but zipper should be a little more substantial.

It's a nice warm and waterproof coat. I would call it midweight and is nicely vented under the arms if you get warm. I travel with this coat much of the year. I bought it because of the 'pack away' feature. There is a zippered pocked the coat can be pushed into and then zipped out. It's on the inside lapel and is a long zipper and inside that there is a tag on the interior zipper that says packaway. With that said, it's a lot of coat to get into the pocket. I can do it, but it takes an effort and I'm always worried the zipper is going to give as I'm trying to close the overstuffed pocket. So far so good, but a better design would perhaps make the packaway feature easier to use.

To the extent I have worn the jacket thus far it has been perfect. However it has not been worn for any period in rain or extremes of heat and cold to date, and hence the tentative rating above. It is a perfect fit, is very lightweight, and crushes to a small size.

It fits my husband well. Since it arrived after cold weather I cannot speak to it's being warm or waterproof. Sure hope it is wind proof.

I've used the jacket quite a few times since I received it I like it very much. I would, however like to see one change made, which would be one or two additional interior pockets as I tend to use interior pockets more than the exterior ones. Otherwise, the jacket is extremely comfortable And I like the material. I am hoping it holds up as well as I think it will.

Husband loves everything about this jacket but the zipper. The zipper broke after six years of use and he is not hard on clothes. Zippers on some Bean clothing can be a difficult.

Great travel jacket with wide temperature range and waterproof protection. Only negative is zippers are a bit sticky and sometimes catch material, this needs improving.

The next will be my fifth Primaloft Packaway, They have been my go to jacket inside and outside almost all year round since the first. Like a water and wind resistant sweater. I loved the burnt orange color of the first two jackets, and the five zippered and one mesh pockets. Perfect for almost everything, dog walking, driving, most boating.
But, the main front zippers fail, and the light weight fabric jams in the pocket zippers.

My husband loves everything about this winter jacket. He wishes it were about 2 inches longer in the body, for better coverage, warmth and rain protection. This is the reason for a 4 out of 5 stars rating. Good functional pockets and hood - zipper was problem free all season.

I'm 6' 2" 170 pound male. I bought the Large Tall and it fits great. I absolutely love this jacket EXCEPT it is too tight under the armpits and in the elbows. The waist/belly area has plenty of extra space if you're overweight, but you'll just run into the issue I have. Any extra layering aside from a t-shirt isn't an option. LLBean needs more color choices and simply more jackets for "XL Tall". Just be aware this jacket runs small/tight. Lastly, I live in Southern Arizona and this is warm enough for winters here, but probably not snow climates, without layering, which isn't an option as it's too tight.

I bought this jacket in 2019. It has served me well on countless hikes since then. But you should know that there are reasonable limits to the claims that all manufacturers make when it comes to things like waterproofing. I discovered this, this weekend, on a mountain hike where it was raining at the base of the mountain for about the first hour and a half of my trek, then it turned to sleet, and finally snow. Coming back down, this scenario reversed itself. I was in the wet stuff for more than eight hours and at some point the jacket waterproofing failed. When I finally took the jacket off, it was completely and utterly soaked. I should have expected this. It's a lesson I've learned before. I don't want a refund and I don't actually think less of the jacket or of LL Bean. I just have a bit better understanding of this jacket's capabilities and will respect them. I plan to continue wearing the jacket because it keeps me warm and in light rain it keeps me dry under most conditions. It has a place in my closet next to other LL Bean clothing, some of which are over thirty years old.

Got it for my husband. He likes the coat. It is warm enough when the temps are 25-30 or higher.. Below that with a little wind, it could be a little warmer. He likes everything else about the coat.. fit, finish, etc.

Nice jacket but not as warm as I was hoping. Needs multiple layers to go out in 40-50 degree weather. As others have mentioned, the zipper isn't the highest quality you might expect for the price of the jacket but it certainly isn't a deal breaker. Pockets are lined and the hood is great for keeping the rain off my glasses. I would purchase again but would really like if the logo was embroidered.

I'm satisfied with my Waterproof Primaloft Packaway Jacket. I recently changed jobs and can walk to work now and thePrimaloft Packaway Jacket has done a great job keeping me warm and dry during my mile and a half walk to and from work. I live in Lancaster PA and the average temperatures up to this point have ranged from the high 20's to the mid 40's and I haven't been cold yet.

Nice coat, more visible at night, warm in 30s weather and good wind breaker. Took a little while to get the zipper; it requires a focused pulling down of the nib side to lock it into the clasp before zipping up. At first I thought I had it in and was frustrated that it didn't work before discovering that it required a little extra tug. Now, it works fine.

Comfortable and warm, but not easy to zip. Would be better without brand label.

The color does not match the product photo on the bright bronze. The product is a little darker than the "bright" that is depicted, this is a little misleading in my opinion, I have not decided if I will keep the jacket yet because of this. It's slightly oversized for layering, warm, comfortable down to about 20 degrees f without any layering.

A bit stiffer and warmer than I'd anticipated and maybe a bit longer. Still, it's an almost perfect 3 season rainy PNW jacket. Improvement: two way zipper and or Velcro flap for maximum adjustment when moving back and forth between rain and shelter.

Very comfortable and light but super warm. It blocks the cold winter winds from Lake Erie wonderfully and I can wear it shopping without roasting.
The only complaint I have is the lining on the sleeves sometimes slide past my wrist and show past the hem. Not a major problem
