With colder temps in California, I needed more than my Ascent Parkway jacket. I walk my Lab up to two hours a day, early mornings and later evenings. I love the zip-up full collar, cuffs, adjustable hood, two chest pockets for glasses and gloves, cell phone pocket, interior stowage for scarf, and longer length. I have always been a klutz with zippers slipping and parting because I did not secure the ends correctly at first. The more substantial zipper on my Primaloft Packaway Jacket solved that problem. In temps of around 35 to 40 degrees (cold for California), this jacket was very comfortable in the wind and showers. It is quite waterprooof. I like the new blue colors vs. only black & brown available. Would not hesitate to buy another one, particularly the brown (which was sold out at time of my purchase). This is a great new product from LL Bean. Thanks for many years of good customer service.

Early April, high 30's, biting wind. I'm atop Mt Battie in Camden Hills State Park in Camden Maine. I'm looking out into the stunning Penobscot Bay and I'm thinking how perfect this PrimaLoft packaway jacket is for these conditions. The light rain and biting wind and cold conditions are no match for this jacket. I'm totally comfortable, loving my decision to buy this jacket. Outdoors in Maine in early spring and loving it. Thanks for another superior product.

I was pleased with this jacket, appearance, fit and comfort. I would have preferred it without a hood, but the description, both in catalogs and online did not specify that it had one.

I bought this jacket one week before a ski trip to Montana.
It is light & kept me warm with mid layer thru 4 days of blizzard conditions.
The hood is a decent fit over a helmet. Nice jacket!

I have a 49 inch chest. The jacket as a slim fit, works well with a light layer, would not work with a heavy layer. The sleeve length is just right for my short arms, however the sleeves may not work for someone with long arms.I purchased this jacket to use on cold windy days and it blocks the wind and keeps me warm. The pit zips and all the pockets are an added bonus.

I had no idea a jacket that looks like a lightweight jacket could be waterproof and warm! I like all the pockets and the interior pouch. The jacket is well thought out and well made, I highly recommend it.

I purchased this for my husband after I received the women's version. I had ordered a size larger than usual, and the same applied in the men's coat. It fits perfectly, the hood is exactly the correct size/shape to cover glasses but not totally obscure peripheral vision. The underarm venting is nice when doing outdoor activities. Water absolutely does not penetrate. The jacket is warm and comfortable but not bulky when temps are in the teens with a mid-weight sweater/shirt combo underneath. This is one the best coats yet from LLBean!

FUNCTION: It works as advertised! I spent four days walking 5-to-6 miles a day in weather that ranged from mid-teens to barely freezing (with stiff breezes just to make it wind-chill colder). Layered with a 650-fill puff jacket, flannel shirt, and base layer, my core was comfortable when temps were in the mid-teens. When it warmed up to nearly freezing ;-) I was fine with just a flannel shirt and light base layer. Totally blocked the wind and kept the moisture out (I didn't walk in any rain or snow, so I can't speak to that aspect of the jacket). The hood is adjustable and effective, and works well over a stocking cap when more warmth is needed. Finish is nice and soft and the zippers worked very well. Pockets are large and, when needed, a good place to keep your hands fairly warm if you're not wearing gloves.
FIT: Excellent fit, I often wear a medium, but the large is perfect, with enough (but not too much) give to layer as needed, and has long enough sleeve length for my 34" arms. I like that the jacket is long enough to cover my hips.
WEIGHT: Very light weight -- I was initially a little concerned as I've tended to associate bulk with warmth. Not this jacket! It's light weight and lack of bulk makes it easy to manage when traveling and city walking.
BEST FOR: Really like that it packs into its own pocket -- this is absolutely terrific for stuffing into your carry-on bag for travel when cold, wet weather is likely to be a factor. Yes, it's expensive, but in my opinion it is totally worth it. It is my new go-to jacket for cold weather.

I was hesitant to purchase the jacket based on how thin it was. I was told it was a pack away model designed to be able to function as a winter jacket but had the ability to be stored in a bag while taking up limited space. All of the above rang true. I can shovel snow or go skiing in this jacket and have no issues with being cold. This jacket also allows me to wear it to the office based on its look and feel. I highly recommend this product to the adventurer and the office worker! Great product!

I love this jacket. It has replaced various down and synthetic fiber jackets I own. Warm and comfortable with enough room for layers underneath.

Light weight durable coat, I sized up so I could use multiple layers beneath the coat, Works remarkably well with even at -32F with two-three layers below. Cuts the wind, keeps you dry in the moisture. Overall very pleased

This lightweight, waterproof jacket was an early Xmas gift for my college aged son. He loves this jacket and says so frequently, wearing it for all but the coldest of days (when he breaks out his down coat). It keeps him warm and dry when walking around campus. There are plenty of pockets (2 chest, 2 hand pockets, & interior stash pockets). My suggestions: add a 2-way zipper, change the placement and type of logo. The "printed" white logo on black that is not embroidered looks cheap.

Bought this for my husband, who usually wears a size small at LLBean, but the small was super tight--would barely zip. Returned for medium, and it is perfect. Lovely jacket, and very warm, despite having the weight of a feather. Haven't tested the waterproof quality yet, but DH is happy.

Nice outer jacket to combat the weather. Not a stand alone though. Needs a layer under it in very cold weather. I use mine in Colorado and it does very good at keeping the winds out. Used it in a few snow storms and stayed dry. Hood is adjustable for fit which is very handy in the winds.

Exactly as it says on the website. Lightweight but very warm. It was 5 degrees and windy, I only had a sweater on under the jacket but was toasty warm.

After receiving this coat, I waited for a few weeks in order to test it properly.
Fit: I usually wear a generously cut medium or a large. Because it is fitted, the Medium was too small and I exchanged it for a Large, which fits well, with room for a heavy sweater, if necessary.
Uses:For Temperatures in the upper 30's it is excellent, but I advise wearing a medium fleece or wool sweater. When temperatures drop to the low 30's and into
the 20's, a heavy sweater (wool or fleece) is advised. I have not worn it for walks in the cold, but have been exposed to windswept parking lots and pumped gas and done errands in temperatures down to the lower 20's and upper teens even with winds blowing.
Comments: When temperatures drop below 20, it may not be adequate and I suggest wearing a warmer garment. The hood has been useful and can serve a collar. The pockets are numerous and well designed. The zipper works well, but a two-way zipper would be even better. The length is adequate but about 6-8 inches added length would be even better.
Overall, this is a very good garment, light and functional.

This jacket is feather lite and thin. It is also warm and wind proof. I use it for walking the dog. Yesterday was 5 degrees and 20mph winds, I was out for 45 minutes and stayed warm. I always wear an inner fleece or sweater. It is as lite and warm as those bubble jackets and you don't look like the "Michelin" man.

I got this jacket (size Large Tall) for my husband who walks every day- rain shine, snow, it doesn't matter. He is also a skier. I was looking for something that would be light weight and not bulky but still keep him warm and dry. Mission accomplished! This jacket is perfect. He is 6' 4" and the tall large fit him perfectly.4 thumbs up! (2 from me & 2 from him!)

I have been wearing mine all winter. I put on an ultralight underneath if it is real cold out. It has deep pockets. The cuffs keep out the wind and rain. I would buy another but wish there were more color choices!

Love the jacket..... so light weight, but WARM. The length of the jacket hit the bottom in the right place. Hope that it last like all the other L.L.. Bean clothes that I own.

Xcellent fit, very comfortable. Keeps out the wind, cold and dampness. Have not worn in the rain yet, but expect it will do as advertised. Looks great also.
Oh, very lite-weight too.

I've been wearing this during my bicycling commute to and from work. I live in upstate NY, so we get cold, wet, and windy weather, especially this time of year. I wanted something that was waterproof, windproof, lightweight, and packable. This fit the bill. I was a little put off by the price, but since this did everything I wanted I went for it.
I'm very pleased with the purchase. I wear it every day, with a button down shirt and nothing else and have been very warm, dry, and haven't felt the wind.
Definitely recommend.

I'm a new L.L. Bean customer this year as a major L.L. Bean competitor completely dropped the ball this year on tall sizes and athletic cuts. I prefer Primaloft to down - and it is very hard to find Primaloft in a tall size athletic cut. This coat is great as it hits all those marks. It is also long enough for my 6'7" frame.
I also like the attention to detail with the taped seams, nice quality zippers, and drawstring pulls that are easy to use with gloves on. It is a nice "technical" jacket.
Nice work!

This is a really nice jacket. It`s not bulky at all, but is warm and fits well. Also, there are zippered pockets for your phone, etc. Also, there is soft material around your wrists to keep any wind out.
