I bought the original Primaloft last winter and was so impressed with it on a February trip to Montana that when I saw this one I immediately ordered it. It's even better than the original. It's impossibly warm. I'm still amazed that something so lightweight and comfortable can be so warm.

Coming from a lifetime of "warm = bulky," it's a revelation to feel just how warm this jacket is. I wore it on a 30 degree day with literally just a t-shirt underneath and I was incredibly comfortable. Once the temps drop lower, this jacket and a sweater should hold me for all but the most brutal Chicago winter days (which is when I'll pull out my Baxter State Parka).

This jacket is a great lightweight insulated jacket. It really is lightweight. The fabric is soft/smooth. The fit of the XLT is trim but comfortable for me, a reasonably fit 6'6", 230 lbs. I did have a small hassle when I ordered it in cinder in March. It was on back order, so I didn't receive it until the end of June. I just started wearing it 2 weeks ago. Definitely worth the wait.

Bought this for my husband and he loves it. Fits like a dream. Lightweight, warm, waterproof, cozy, looks awesome! Love that it packs into a pocket. Great all around jacket for everything. Best purchase ever! One thought, why not make gloves out of TEK 2L waterproof and breathable fabric so fingers could have the same dreamy experience!!!

I had ordered the women's waterproof primaloft packaway jacket for a trip we planned to take to Alaska. I received it and both my husband and I were so impressed with its lightness and warmth that he wanted one. Problem? The mens was on backorder. But we ordered it anyway in hopes we would get it in time. Well it did come in but the delivery date was going to be after we had left. So I called and talked to a Jim, and asked if he could rush the delivery to us. Well he did (for which we are very grateful) and both my husband and we had a wonderful trip thanks to Jim and the L.L. Bean jackets. As usual great products and outstanding service!!

Exactly what I was looking for, I had one similar when I was younger. I use this for my fishing trips and leave it behind my truck seat for emergencies. The only con I would put on this is it's a little spendy.

My husband is 6' 3" and 240 lbs. The XL tall fit perfectly, especially the sleeve length. The jacket kept him warm in wind, rain and 44 degree weather. He liked it!

I was looking for a lightweight but warm jacket for outdoor activities, including hiking and golf. Amazing light, yet warm and windproof. Easy to get on & off, plenty of pockets for cellphone and sunglasses. Also, hand pockets are nice & deep. I ordered a Medium which fit me well - not baggy but not tight either (5'11", 173 lbs, 42R jacket, 32" waist).

For the price, this is my best waterproof cold weather hooded jacket ever. With two chest pockets for glasses case and cell phone, plus lined hood and jacket pockets, perfect garmet for early morning winter walks here on the west coast (30's to 40's). I layer with a Bean chamois shirt. I like the extra lengths to keep my neck and lower body warmer. I don't have to worry about getting cold in the rain. I particularly like the inside right pocket to hold my gloves. I still love my regular primaloft hoodie and very old wool-lined barn coat (made in Maine) for a warmer mornings. This jacket now works the best for me for the coldest walks with my Lab.

I ordered a similar woman's coat first for a fall trip to Ireland coming up this year as I anticipate some rainy days touring. Unfortunately I've had plenty of days to check it out this winter as SC has been cold and rainy; fortunately it's a great coat. My husband was impressed with its light weight, warmth and being rain proof so we ordered a similar men's coat for him. My son grabbed it on his way to work today, loves it and so now I'm ordering him one too. My husband loves all the available, zippable pockets. I love that it's warm, rainproof with an adjustable hood so I don't get dripped on and that it can be tucked into it's own pocket for easy storage.

Top notch coat. Purchased for skiing based on reviews of my buddies similar down coat from LL Bean. Did my research on primaloft and turns out to be better and more humane as well as holding up to the elements stronger. First time use i skied in 30 degree F weather with nothing but a long sleeve underneath and sweated to much. Hard to believe such a lightweight coat can be so warm. Coat is made all around excellent, don't hesitate to purchase you surely won't be disappointed.

My husband ordered this for an upcoming cool weather vacation and has been wearing it already, temps in the upper 30s and 40s here, and he says it is very warm and comfortable. I love the taupe color, very good-looking jacket. The packability makes me think I should order one for myself!

I typically don't do reviews but this coat definitely stands out. I have the LL Bean 850 Down hooded coat and it is awesome, but this is even better. The warmth of the down is hard to beat, but this coat insulation is great, the shell is the best waterproof I have ever experienced, even better than Gortex. There are plenty of pockets and the sleeve cuffs are a softer material, almost fleece, so this feels super comfortable the first time you put it on. The same super soft material is around the neck. The design of the full zip up the neck is perfect, so that it keeps warm air in, keeps the hood in the right position to prevent rain out and still allows enough room for movement. It has cinches around the hips to keep it tighter if you want it for more heat. You will not be disappointed at all with this coat.

This is a really nice jacket light but warm. Interior zippered sticks to the fabric very easily. My only complaint.

I am really impressed with this jacket. It is very lightweight and very warm. This is the coldest winter in Houston, TX to memory and this has kept me warm all season. It is a handsome jacket that you can dress up or down, it goes with everything. Highly recommend!

Recently received and I love this jacket. Temps dipped down to the single digits with sleet and snow and heavy winds and this jacket kept me a perfectly warm temperature. Wind nor water did penetrate and the primaloft insulated and breathed well on a brisk hike. I wore a wool baselayer and light polyester long sleeve shirt under the jacket for the hike. The quality of this piece is top notch. Zippers are seam sealed, it's slightly fitted which helps modernize the look of this jacket. I look forward to enjoying this jacket as my primary winter jacket for some time as it's built extremely durably. Thank you, LL Bean!

LOVE Primaloft Gold and this jacket is so light and warm. Thanks for putting it in a weatherproof shell, as an outdoor jacket needs to keep you comfortable no matter what Mother nature decides for the day! Love the soft, quiet outside fabric, fuzzy-lined pockets (lots of them), real zipper. Also has pit-zips for us active folks. LL Bean has a winner!! Love the earth color cinder.

Used it during a recent winter storm and was pleased with the warmth and water-proof shell. Only drawback so far is that I can't get it to stuff into its packaway pocket/pouch

I would have given this ten stars if not for one thingunderarm zippers. I hate them and have never in my life had a need of any sort for them. I'm a tall thin man and the zippers are like springs pushing into my underarms. I even tried leaving them unzipped; same problem. I know "pit zips" are a clothing trend but to me, they are one of the most insane things you can do to a piece of clothing. So what's the good? This is a beautiful and very warm, comfortable jacket ruined by the stupid pit zips. Bean, please hear me out: I beg of you to make garmens without these. Or at least put the zippers on the side, like your Cresta rain coat. That way the garment is comfortable ( and usable ) for people like me. Just because another company does it ( pit zips ) doesn't mean you have to. Love your company and clothes but had to return this. I bought the Primaloft Air Hoodie instead. A phenomenal piece of kit toobut not as good as this Waterproof Primaloft Packaway. You probably don't do custom but if you ever make this without underarm zippers, please let me know.

This is the only coat my husband will wear. It is lightweight, yet extremely warm. However the zipper does not last but 1 season. It is unfortunate that he cannot get more than 1 season's use. But it is still his favorite.

I've worn this jacket several times now and I find it to be much warmer than expected and the rainproof aspect is great. However, after several minutes of straining my hands I finally got it to pack. Waaay to difficult if it's supposed to be a sales idea. A little larger compartment and a better zipper and this would be perfect.

I've been looking for a medium length winter coat. Most items are short jackets or very long bulkier coats. This is just the right length. The medium fits my medium frame (5'6", 140 lbs) well with some room for layering. I'm not yet sure how well it handles temperatures below 25 degrees and and unsure about whether it's truly waterproof. The hood feels a bit thin.

The jacket is very good, a little pricey and I would have preferred more substantial cuffs for ease of removal/ putting on.
